This is reposted from something I did on the Bethesda forums. Hope you enjoy.

-----

The cell door whispers open and two Altmer enter. The taller is scribbling furiously with a perfectly still face and an uneven gait. The smaller mournfully whistles descending arpeggios and fiddles with an intricate and weighty key. Behind them, a skull adorned with soulgems and crystalline wings chants "MARAM. MARAM. MARAM..." as it flutters. The elves take their seats at one end of the chamber while the skull swoops to the other and alights upon a pale metal bench, where a haggard figure lies in chains and rags. His golden skin is bruised and unhealthily translucent. His body is still as the grave, but his pupils flick maniacally back and forth beneath tear-greased eyelids.

Waiting for some acknowledgement of their presence and receiving none, the pair of elves grimly glance at each other. The taller stands, hides her scroll in her wide sleeves and produces a scalpel and a tiny bottle, while her companion speaks in monotone sequences. "SMIS Absolute Proving. Starb'd scribe sixteen, you know as well as I do the changes in documentation required to allow us access. Do you not think we could also promote dormant clauses enabling us to order your immediate surrender of records?"

"No need, Lithour-hour. They've already tried that. I would have told you earlier, but clause duplication has its uses sometimes. We should proceed straight to myelin-dye reading." The elf with the scalpel stoops over the catatonic prisoner and makes an adjustment to the winged skull - causing its chanting to rise in pitch slightly - before making an incision on the gaunt cheek. Working precisely with her knife and a minuscule brush, a complex red pattern is cut into the face and a thick blue liquid is worked into the wound. The bound elf shows no reaction as the same is done to his chest and the palm of one hand. Finally, the surgeon finishes, nods at Lithour-hour and returns to her seat next to him.

"Mnemonic by thirty degrees." Lithour-hour brings forth a large gem as the chains rattle. The prisoner on the bench gives a long sigh, breaking his silence, and his chest begins to rise and fall in a better approximation of life. "Records. Last relinquish and continue forth," the tall Altmer commands. The prisoner coughs and begins to talk:

"Hailtrance. Overvox collage initiating soon. Continuing across unhame vector set Phyn Four. Hallu, no news back there? Resolve log of Lygnic minor sons, they'll want to hear about the new batch. Yessah, ensuring lines four and nine relative will include refs to resonance-debris in the new sol-box. Thik-thik.

Trinim's teeth, Mlenain, you're as bitter as bladeroot today. I think it's beautiful, and I don't care if you've seen it a hundred times. Countless stars, reflecting in the escaping moisture of a cloud of scaled unbound daedroth-loci, parsing colours you don't even see in the Isles. Isn't this the sort of thing you signed up for? Hah! Yessah, noting the rust on midsection of SMIS Quail over then. Advising discharge of Dirennoids to fix that one up.

Charting delegation path for you, Lorequir. Wait, discontinuity on deck k, three sailmer burned out eight minutes hence. Let k equal summation from zeht-sub-ayem to zeht-sub-zeht, once again, you worthless muddy ray. Pains me to have to repeat myself, we haven't received clearance for hard-lensing of this'un, have we? No sir, just conversation. Got to keep the tongues loose and ready. With all due respect sir, there have been three models in as many decades, we ought to keep up with the times.

Approaching three of four courses for natural lunar roundmantling. Have a look at those, Mlenain: bet you're glad you chose this era to be young in, hah! Don't much fancy our chances when the Alloys come round. Coded New-Man backjumpers are in same position as SMIS Falinesti noted. For somewhere that's stuck up Sithis' armpit, so to speak, it's been damn quiet. No ma'am, just lawbright exercise syllables, not a speculatory bone in my body. Sorry, I shall be sure to discriminate more carefully in future.

Reverberations up ahead. Hold - yessah, I've had the bit in since I got here. Void spake no words, but the heat was audible, as per regulation hypotheses. And there's another thing as needs replacing. Blast, need to change out all four of those quill-mucking nub-ears from row behind. Hardly singed my robes at all, now there's luck. Guess Auriel smiles with those who smile themselves, mm? Meteorologist! Back here! And hurry, the smell's impeding the last paragraph.

Ink's running. Nothing here to log but disenfranchised Molagites waiting for their next payoff. Wheelian doctrines have cooled off ahead? Good, all underscribes are registering ready for transit here. Remember your first Moonround? Yes, this era, I mean. Wouldn't - "

"This isn't getting us anywhere."

"Patience, Etimnor-nil. Hmm, increase focus and jolt us forward a bit, I think."

The skull rotates along its vertical axis. The cheerfully monologuing prisoner coughs and continues from a different point:

"-and wingtips are retracted by six more notches. Her vertebrae have ceased to absorb the Daedron pulses from Cyan-Crepuscubit XI - the drakes'll have to leave now it's starting to heat up down there. Once we've cleaned up the rust, Gelbornym estimates we'll have around forty thousand acres of habitable Adularia-el. Refurbishments will continue at a greatly increased pace after that.

Nirnshine hotspots are now within Proving's sight. No noticeable VARliance coeff difference. Dance us a bit out, I've lost track of sericonches three and nine. Ah, see 'em now. All seems well, normal eruptions and gleaming VARices. These old shells still have a good month in them before lepidopterism makes them unusable. Much better than the processors they were stuck with back Mundus-side - I hear they were switching them out every hour at Rimmen. Out here it's all gung-ho and progress-up.

Accrual's furthest reaches are wasting away now we're cresting the new hemisphere. And no wonder, those plains and spires are too dark even for the Pioneers Saliache. A shame to see it wasted. Hmm, what's that gleam 'midst the VARves yonder? There, I mean. Not orthoclase, definitely. And - could swear looks like something swaying in the wind. Oy, Fof'm, move - Syr'bane, it's coming bloody fast - "

The bound elf pauses mid-sentence, gaping wide-eyed at the ceiling. The two observers are silent and puzzled.

"What - "

"Hush." Etimnor-nil stands up, caution written in her gradual movements. She makes her way across the room, barely disturbing the air, and is lowering her hand to the skull when the prisoner jolts upright. Straining against the chains, his spine arches and inorganic noises rasp from his throat.

"... [censored]. Looks like things are political now. Gods know the 'birders have had enough of that."

"Gods. You send word to the circles, I'll call down the cleaner."

"MARAM. MARAM. XARX. MARAM..."

This story reads like River Tam speaks.

Creepy

I read it a few times. The imagery is disturbing and morbid (in a good way) and certainly interesting, but I just don't follow.

Context please?!

Nevermind, I'm obviously way over my head here, haha.

I read that whole page you linked, and now feel dumber for having done so. Tons of dialoge and obscure vernacular with no context or plot curve whatsoever. I might as well have been reading a medical dictionary...

Thanks for trying though.
