Are you physically active?

I was originally going to make this a poll, but thought posts would be more constructive. By physically active, I mean do you exercise or play a sport or two on a regular basis?

This can obviously constitute a lot of different types of activities, but what do you do to try and stay healthy? (Whether health is the intention or not).

I like to ask this around gaming communities to get an idea of the trends when it comes to personal health and fitness. Because we all know the typical stereotype of what a gamer is in that area (read: couch potato).

As for me, I generally work out 5 times a week, ranging anywhere from 1-3 hours a day. My workouts mostly consist of weight training, though I have started to do some running again recently. I need a little more motivation when it comes to running, especially when I'm doing it on a treadmill. The idea of running in one spot for a few miles bores me like no other.

I'm a runner mostly. Can't stand treadmills. I have trails around me that I take full advantage of. I've really found that i dislike gyms and would rather come up with non weight workouts I can do outside.

weve seen your pictures tecca ^^

on topic, yess. If i get the time for it, studying chemistry does eat up quite a bit of freetime. I usually do some workout at home, but i have a tendency of going to the gym on weekends.

I used to do quite a bit of martial arts, but i doubt i have the time now.

When it comes to running i did that every day when i was in the military (duh) but generaly it bores me out of my mind and the weather isnt particulary nice for it around here either..

Epee fencing, a little HEMA (with sword & buckler), and light dumbells at home. Not really one for the gym or running around anywhere :P

^^ I spend most of my time dancing around but I no longer do classes ( I did ballet for six years or so). I do half an hour/forty minutes of basic fitness exercises generally once every couple of days. I wouldn't describe myself as particularly strong or incredibly fit but I'm in shape.

I like to walk in "shadow" forests and make fun, strange fantasy to think....

Yah forests, hills and fresh air. You know how in Norway, do you? :)

I used to ride horseback since I was six, and same goes for dancing. I used to focus on that a lot, went to classes three times a week, did ballet, modern, jazz, hiphop, bellydance, you name it and I did it. These past few years time, circumstance and work swallowed that up somewhat, haha xD

Ooooh I did horseback ridding for a while too, my mothers friend owned a stables. I live in a city now though so ....... Its a really awesome thing to do if you get the chance. :)

XD At school ( I think it would be the american equivalent of highschool? XD I'm not sure) I opted in to do dance twice a week, Most of my memories from it is being ridiculous with my group of friends, The class covered a broad range of stuff so XD sometimes we would be doing Bollywood and then the next lesson would be doing the Charleston. I did ballet at a class out of school. XD It was much more serious, I once got told off for smiling to much in a rehearsal for a very dramatic depressing piece.

XD I really loved dance classes, They were a lot of fun.

Due to my scoliosis, not so much since my civil service for the agency of nature conservation (lumbering is quite the workout).
Besides 3-4 light workouts per week mostly physiotherapy now, but I'm quite an outdoors-man, so I don't think I fit the gamer stereotype you mentioned.

i actually dont think most people do. I dont know too many "gamers" but i know quite a few people that play as many games as i do. And none of them (including me) is your average fat nerd that lives in his parents basement and has no social life.

well i know one that COULD qualify, but its not realy his fault.

I run and lift weights. (Free weights and Bowflex) I also love to swim, hike, Michigan is all about the outdoorsy stuff.

Same with Colorado, though I moved away not too long ago. I was going to live in Michigan with a friend, but my circumstances kind of stopped me from traveling there. I'd like to visit at some point, since I've never been there.

There's a vast difference between states like Colorado and Texas in terms of health and fitness.

Well in the Detroit area, it's good to be able to run. You have Pitbulls and bullets to worry about. There is an old saying about Detroit. "Welcome back, we missed you the first time!"
