Argonian Design

After finding out what the Argonians actually looked like it took be aback at first. Their design was so drastically different from past designs that I was not sure whether I liked it or not not. After having some time to adjust to it I have come to actually really like it but I am still confused by their short snouts. In all the past games they have had long pointed snouts for the most part but in TESO they have short black ones. Does anyone know why they took this design approach? My only thought is that it allowed for putting helmets on more easily but otherwise I am not sure. If you have any ideas feel free to respond! Thanks! Smiling

I think they look pretty badass. They don't look as "human" as the other Argonian designs have.

Argonians are ugly and bad smell and love to live in Black March...

Mad shamans... They would make a voodoo party in the dark place...

(Sorry, it is what I mean against enemies of Argonians)

So far i know:
Argonians (a.k.a. Saxhleel)
Imga (a.k.a. Great Apes)
Khajiit
Lilmothiit
Sload

All are Beast races.

If I am correct, it widely depends on the species of Argonians, as argonians have different races. Some of them are more "beast like", whilst others tend to look more like humanoids.

Sordak means this one :) It doesn't just cover Argonians, but all current models. Discuss away!

Sorry I hadn't realized there was already a similar topic. I would not have created this if I had known but I'll look at the other one now!

I'm not sure they even look that different besides the snouts... Does anyone have some screenshots or anything that I haven't seen that better shows the more beast-like differences in TESO?

From what I've seen the ESO Argonians look pretty cool. I still have a muzzle/snout, scales, and a tail. I am pretty sure they still have horns too. I am happy.

they also have a nose, a non reptilian head shape: note how it looks like a simian. while a reptile has its bones build "around" the sockets for the eyes and nose, a simian has an overlapping structure.

just compare an argonian from sykrim with your profile picture and you will see that they are fundamentaly different in their facial sturcture.

I think they look kind of dumpy, but that's just my opinion. Someone also commented on this when Zenimax answered some of the publics questions on the EHP. They said that by no means is the character model final, which is good news for me since they look a little lackluster.

I also have to assert my dissatisfaction with the new look of the Argonians in TESO. I do understand the need to simplify geometry for an MMO, but there is no reason why the artists couldn't keep the basic facial structure more in line with what Skyrim has established. The Skyrim Argonians are the best design compared to all previous Elder Scrolls games. So far what I have seen of the screenshots and videos, the new Argonians look silly. More alien than reptile, and their tails are far to thick and stiff looking. I really hope Xenemax revises their look.

it says on the teso main sight on the ask us anything section on the Ebonheart pact that they are still working on the Argonian models

"Customization of individual characters will allow for much more variety than we’ve been able to convey in the screenshots released so far. Also, we’re still fine-tuning the ESO character models, including the Argonians".

Yeah, I liked that little revelation. Hopefully we get reptillian-looking reptiles. That would be nice.
