You want the best Battle-Mage possible so you make the best build for it regardless the race because there is no Racial Traits in TESO.

Every race is the same, choose the one you like the most and prepare your build and build only.

I think a Breton would make a pretty decent Battle-Mage.

I've always thought of Dunmer to be straight Destruction or Morag Tong assassin. But this is Elder Scrolls, you can be whatever you want to be :)

Int he SRPGs: Breton, their stats are just OP like that.
In the Lore: Definitly the Dunmer.

Tho the Imperials also qualify, mostly due to quantity rather than quality however.

In Skyrim or base stats I'd say Redguards. One handed and destruction magic basic boost.

It depends. Breton are more conjuration and general magic based but aren't too good at destruction. Dunmer are more Destruction based, and have good all around skills. Dunmer also make good battlemages, according to the lore.

Though we won't be having any racial bonuses in TESO, people like to stick to lore, and what races roles typically are.

Redguards dispise magic tho. So i doubt that they would make good battlemages.
And if, id say Spellswords more. As Redguards tend to fight in light armor.

The best for a battle mage is a Dunmer, but maybe even a Breton.

if they keep the racials intact, I would say a breton. magicka boost without the magicka vulnerability. plus the dragonskin racial ability. seems appropriate to their lore too.

also, in TESO, will you need a free hand to cast spells like you did in skyrim??
if not, a sword and board battlemage would be pretty cool, and could work for many races (esp imperials if only they were playable).

I like the Breton for this simply for the sake of lore, but Zenodin is correct that it wont matter in TESO. Any race can be any "class" or profession. It should make for some interresting builds/looks.

Dunmer are the best battle mages lore wise.

Ill give you, Dumners are a good choice. Its a good thing that theres gonna be no difference in TESO, as fas as race vs class, or this arguement is gona be ongoing for a LONG time in-game. hehe

Personally Im not a big battle mage person, so my knowledge and experience with them in elder scrolls is probably not up to what it could be. I dont think the Bretons are quite that incompetent though. None of the races were created with absolutely no usefulness. They are the best magic class of the human races, not that this is saying much. :)

Ive played Bretons though and they do ok with magic. I think theyre well roundedness, in game and lore, is what sets them apart though, myself. A battle mage, depending on your definition, would seem to require this.

I like the assassin/thief and sometimes even warrior classes a bit more myself usually, which explains my limited experience with mages in elder scrolls.
