Anyone have a approximate date for the beta release? And will how will you get a key? I was hoping you could get a beta key if you Pre Order the game. I just know that there are people that know more info than me
let me know
thanks.

The game was announced way back in May. http://www.gameinformer.com/p/elderscrollsonline.aspx We know that in October, ESO had a demo of the game available for a select few. From the reviews we also know that the game was in Pre-Alpha/Alpha state. http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/10/22/...ls-online/

All we know for sure is that the devs are aiming for a 2013 release. Speculations are the Beta will start anytime Feb - April with a late 2013 to possibly early 2014 release. This is all speculation. All the devs are saying is to keep watch on their official web sites, twitter and facebook for more information on the beta.

tl:dr No idea.

Once a beta is announced I'm gonna do whatever I have to to get into it. I wanna be a beater (sword art online reference there for ya).

I have been checking in daily, I was in the beta for SCII, Diablo III, and Dota 2, but I have never been as excited for a beta (or release for that matter) as I am for this one! TES has been my #1 gaming love since Morrowind and I just can't wait! I have been giving my friends an almost daily reminder that once TESO is released we will be playing far less Diablo III and League of Legends!

Really? Is that the way these things usually work?

Most recent MMO's that I can think of let you get into (keyword) some Beta Events with a pre-order. This doesn't necessarily mean that Zenimax will follow suit. At this early stage, they haven't released any information regarding specific dates or information pertaining to payment models, etc.

GW2 had limited beta access for those that Pre-Purchased as opposed to pre-ordering. However, the game released with a lot of bugs. I will give them credit for only having 3 hours of downtime at launch.

It would be nice if TESO did this but on the whole I'd prefer they did the standard approach to beta testing. At least start off with a long closed beta and then when they are closer to release do an open beta for stress testing.

I'd rather not be able to participate in an open beta and have a launch free of major bugs than be able to have a beta key with purchase and have a game almost unplayable because of bugs at launch.

Well doubt we'll all be trapped in a trance were people would complain about a beta-tester being awesome like whenever someone does well in shooting games he must be cheating using knowledge of unreported glitches and bugs for personal gain. Fighting for survival itself being kept alive irl by life-support....well....if for once I havn't got my expectations to high like when I got dissapointed by TES: Skyrim(since apperently all the reporters acted as commercials and not reporters making it seems more awesome than it is) I wouldn't mind living on the planet of Nirn and eat all the delicous stolen sweet rolls my virtual stomach is capable of containing within a day cycle while spending my spare time trying to make cyrodilic citizen riot by framing the rulers of their designation for stealing their sweets.

I would think that there would be a basic criteria to be met. Being a Beth sister, I'd assume they would follow previous Beth selection strategies for the projected participants. Most people think that Beta testing is nothing more than a chance to play the game ahead of the masses.

While that is still viewed by some newly elects, Beta is not fun and games. It requires a devoted mindset and demands diligence, to be effective.

No info or hints released yet whatsoever, and my guess is that we won't hear those either until at least the three factions are "covered" over the next couple of months.

Closed alpha/beta-invites usually go round in a state of hush-hush to a select group of folks, then there might be a second round of closed beta for those who have pre-ordered or have keys through other means, and then there's usually some open beta a few weeks before launch. I personally do not count on hearing anything about non-secret betas until at least medio 2013.

I love skyrim and still play it to this day. What about it didn't you like?
