I hope this belongs here because i think it will benefit our characters characterisation :)

Basically i'll make some scenarios (feel free to add your own i'll add them in) and answer how your character will approach said scenario try and be as creative as possible and hopefully this will add more depth to your characters :)

1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do?

2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help

3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p

4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a target, this target happens to be one of your friends

5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride

some new questions

6. a thief approaches you, you recognise him, he's a lowly street rat born poor and had to struggle for food and money, he depends you to hand over your good! and pulls out a knife

7. The murderer of a good friend of yours passes you in a crowded street, he doesn't recognise you

8. You witness a crime, the victim is unaware that he is about to be a victim

9. Someone you hate is trying his / her best to make friends with you

10. you have been offered an artifact of GREAT power! you have heard / read that this artifact is evil and dangerous and is better to be destroyed!

here is some question provided by Horizon Seeker

11. A person is victim to an agonizing disease that cannot be cured, they will soon die a slow and painful death. They ask that you stop their suffering and end their life.

12. A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy.

13. You and a good friend are part of an army fending off a daedric invasion pouring out from an oblivion gate. You have the opportunity to stop the entire invasion now by closing the portal from within, a one way trip in this case. Your friend is insistent on being the one to sacrifice himself and begins to head to the portal do so.

14. Many years ago, a close family member of yours volunteered to fight in a war. During one the battles he was slain by an enemy soldier. Now you have encountered that very same soldier living a peaceful life with a family on a farmstead.

15. You have spent a month looking for a lost priceless treasure in the mountains. Once you find it however, you find out that it rightfully belongs to a nearby village.

some notes
try to re frame from saying what would be the out come of your actions! for example answering question 6: I killed him effortlessly and danced on his grave!
you never know but this lowly thief could turn out to be a struggle for even your mighty hero

**the person who is giving you the contract to kill your friend does NOT have the money on him ..... that would be silly**

Weakness in a character is an admirable trait, it will sometimes be their internal struggle and will become part of your character. you may find your characters weakness may become their most likeable triat

keeping on the subjects of weakness, don't make your a character a uber demi god that could kill anybody on a whim. it's been done, its dull and frankly i can't see how one could have fun playing a 'invincible' character

try to think of your characters internal struggles and which question(s) effects said struggle the most! for example if your character has lost a friend to a vampire how differently should you answer question 1

thanks for your time i look forward to your answers

this is for my character quib http://www.tesof.com/topic-quib

please (if you made one) link you character bios

1. Quib has a huge fear of the undead, believing that his friend is suffering he will read his books are try anything to find a cure, Quib has lost a lot of friends he's not having one become a monster .... even it that would mean contacting the daedra!

2. An opportunity for money! after talking to the worried parent he will try and squeeze some money out of them saying it's for equipment and supplies regardless of that outcome Quib will assure the parent that there child is in safe hands and will be returned shortly ..... Quib will then go to the nearest bar and spend the money on mead and ale maybe seeing if there's a righteous soul that would do it for free .... after the bar and with the booze making him feel invincible he will go and find the child (drunk) if he can feel that he can beat the kidnapper he will if it's a big brute or something undead quib will then search for a friend to help him (he always keeps a promise) and try not to tell said friend about the money

3. Quib will get that sweet roll back! unless he's twice his size .... he probably needs it more!

4. Never! a friend is a friend, Quib will be curious that his friend is a mark though and will find out who wants his friend dead! this person has made a huge mistake and quib will make sure it's his last!

5. Nobody hurts Quibs pride, probably in a bar Quib will be drunk aswell and a fight is going to happen! stumbling out of his chair spilling other peoples drinks as he bumps into quib will attempt to punch the drunken fool .......... quib as of yet has won 0 bar fights and has been in about 10

for the new questions

6. quib will (try to) beat the stuffing out of him! and try to teach him a lesson that thievery is never a answer that is of course if quib can beat up the thieve, if the thieve is stronger than he quib will try to distract him by throwing some shiny coin at him hoping that will distract him enough for quib to escape

7. Quib not enough of a fool to kill him with witnesses around but due to the rage quib will find it hard not to kill him on the spot. later quib will make sure he regrets his actions

8. though choice, quib would either: stop the crime hoping for an award or later find the criminal using quibs knowledge as blackmail

9. every one deserves a second chance! unless they are a scummy nord! they already had their chance!

10. Knowledge is power! and this weapon could be used against the evil the book speaks of and once quib has used the weapon against said evil only then will he (think about) destroying it

11. Quib would end their life a painlessly as possible, no one should die a slow and painful death. if it was a friend asking he would find it much hard to agree to end their life

12. This one matters, quib is no fan of war and knows most dont have a choice and have to fight! though if this person has killed someone quib holds dear ...... he will kill them

13. That big headed tool! i knew he always wanted the glory!!! if s/he thinks they are going down the history books alone they have another thing coming!!! quib will join his ally for better or for worse and will see it as a good death a story mothers will they their children!

14. he lives in peace, he can't be blamed for what he's done, war is war and makes killers of fine men, it will hurt quib to see the killer of a family member but knows better than to bring it back up

15. it belongs to quib! that near by village has NO idea of how hard it was to get this treasure!! well they could have it back ..... for a price

Cool thread!

I'll answer these scenarios for my own character, Endaros, who has the background of a knight-templar sort for the Tribunal.

--------------

1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do?

For the sake of the fallen beggar and anyone else who may become a victim, Endaros would slay the vampire on the spot. It may have once been a friend but now is a corrupted murderer. It would be a mercy to end the fiend and a duty to protect the citizens of the town. Endaros would want the same treatment done upon him if he were to turn into a murderous vampire.

--------------

2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help

Certainly can't allow this to continue! Endaros would step in to investigate the kidnapping and hopefully rescue the child. To ignore the pleas for help would be heartless or cowardly. Step in and save the day.

--------------

3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p

Endaros would probably be impressed that someone got the better of him. As it's a minor theft, he would not go out of his way to pursue it.

He's a Hackle-Lo Leaf fan himself anyways.

--------------

4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a friend

A life changing amount of money? Why would Endaros want to change his life of exploration and adventure? He wouldn't be quite sure what to do with a large amount of money, besides donate it to the Temple. Besides a friend's a friend and shouldn't be betrayed.

He will question this individual offering the money however, perhaps going along with the offer until he learns what he wants.

--------------

5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride

Endaros would laugh the drunkard off. He is aware of his own pride and won't stoop to challenging a drunken person on it. He wouldn't try to convince them otherwise either as the person in question probably won't recall it the next morning.

--------------

6. a thief approaches you, you recognise him, he's a lowly street rat born poor and had to struggle for food and money, he depends you to hand over your good! and pulls out a knife

Endaros would feel pity for the thief, but could not give in to mugging as an acceptable form of living. He would attempt to reason with the thief and hopefully suggest an opportunity that doesn't involve a life of lawlessness and danger. This would probably involve some sort of suggestion to seek the Temple for guidance and refuge.

If that doesn't work, a demonstration of the dangers of thievery may be in order. Force the thief to yield followed by a warning that their path would lead to doom.

--------------

7. The murderer of a good friend of yours passes you in a crowded street, he doesn't recognise you

Endaros would follow the murderer to a less crowded environment before challenging said individual to a duel, although it won't be one that can be declined. Justice would be met whether the murderer is slain or apprehended.
--------------

8. You witness a crime, the victim is unaware that he is about to be a victim

Another chance to save the day, step in and stop the crime.

--------------

9. Someone you hate is trying his / her best to make friends with you

Depending on the reasons this someone is hated, Endaros would either try to set aside the past and accept a new friend or nod his head and smile politely, trying to leave the room as quickly as possible.

--------------

10. you have been offered an artifact of GREAT power! you have heard / read that this artifact is evil and dangerous and is better to be destroyed!

Endaros would want to destroy the artifact as quickly as possible. The sooner the better. Best get it done before the inevitable, "I can definitely control this and use it for good" rationalization pops up in his head.

Too many stories of daedric and dwemer artifacts will make him very uncomfortable around it! Whether he might use it in a certain situation... well, who can say.

--------------

11. A person is victim to an agonizing disease that cannot be cured, they will soon die a slow and painful death. They ask that you stop their suffering and end their life.

It won't be an easy decision, but Endaros will read out a prayer then carry out the request as quickly and painlessly as possible.

--------------

12. A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy.

Endaros would follow any proper rule of engagement as followed by the Dunmer. He would respect the warrior's combat abilities and be sure to acknowledge that before having the fate decided.

--------------

The thought of sacrificing oneself to save your people is a noble and worthy of respect. If his friend however has family or others depending them, he wouldn't hesitate to take his friend's place whether its through convincing or deception. In fact even if that wasn't the case, he may just do that anyways.

There is no better way to die in his mind than to sacrifice onself to save a friend or nation.

--------------

14. Many years ago, a close family member of yours volunteered to fight in a war. During one the battles he was slain by an enemy soldier. Now you have encountered that very same soldier living a peaceful life with a family on a farmstead.

Endaros would like to believe that he could overlook the death of his family member in war, but he would try to avoid all contact with the soldier just to be certain.

--------------

15. You have spent a month looking for a lost priceless treasure in the mountains. Once you find it however, you find out that it rightfully belongs to a nearby village.

The treasure would be returned. Gratitude is better than wealth to Endaros.

I shall answer this as best I am able for my character: Rythis en'Medora.

1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do?

Rythis is a fiercely loyal friend; that is, once you earn her trust. She would search feverishly for a cure for her friend, and if she found one, approach her with it. If her friend refused, then she would be left with no choice. She would incinerate her friend. Magnus would expect no less.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help.

Whether Rythis would help depends on the individual. She would need to talk to the parent and determine if their child was truly kidnapped, ran away, or wandered off when they were not paying attention.

If the child was kidnapped, Rythis would certainly help them reclaim their child. Magnus would expect no less.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p

They would die a slow, fiery death!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a friend

Rythis would play along and gather information from the "employer." After finding the information that she needed, she would incinerate the "employer" and then hunt down those who hired the "employer."

She must protect her friends.

------------------------------------------------------------
5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride

He would get a fireball to the face upon exiting the bar.

--------------------------------------------------------------
6. a thief approaches you, you recognise him, he's a lowly street rat born poor and had to struggle for food and money, he depends you to hand over your good! and pulls out a knife

Rythis would create a little ember bed under his feet. After he dances around for a bit, she would then hit him with a gust of wind to knock him on his bottom. She would then tell him to find legitimate work and walk away.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. The murderer of a good friend of yours passes you in a crowded street, he doesn't recognize you

He will be a pile of ash shortly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. You witness a crime, the victim is unaware that he is about to be a victim

The perpetrator will be a pile of ash. She would then inform the victim to be more careful.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Someone you hate is trying his / her best to make friends with you

She will give him/her a chance to redeem him/herself, after all, they can only improve her opinion of him/her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. you have been offered an artifact of GREAT power! you have heard / read that this artifact is evil and dangerous and is better to be destroyed!

She would take the artifact and isolate it. She would then do proper research to determine if the artifact itself is evil or if the previous users were evil. If said artifact is evil, destroy it. If not, she would then use it in a judicious manner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. A person is victim to an agonizing disease that cannot be cured, they will soon die a slow and painful death. They ask that you stop their suffering and end their life.

She would end it, quickly and humanely. She would want the same done for her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12. A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy.

If she liked said allies, then she would give him a weapon and fight him. If she did not like said allies, she would throw him in prison for others to deal with.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(According to Oblivion, you can get back out after closing the Oblivion gate, but anyways). She would let the friend go in, as she has bigger goals to complete on this realm. She would however give him/her a ceremony to honor his/her death and be haunted by the memory of him/her

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14. Many years ago, a close family member of yours volunteered to fight in a war. During one of the battles he was slain by an enemy soldier. Now you have encountered that very same soldier living a peaceful life with a family on a farmstead.

She cannot deprive the children of a father. She would simply ignore him... actually, she would incinerate some livestock.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15. You have spent a month looking for a lost priceless treasure in the mountains. Once you find it however, you find out that it rightfully belongs to a nearby village.

It would depend on what the treasure was. If it was something that they could actually use, not some obscure tome or w/e, then she would give it to them. If it was something listed above, then she would keep it as she could make better use of it, (no sense of it going to waste, right?) and eventually returning it.

(If you haven't noticed, my character really enjoys incinerating people Cthulhu )

1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do?

Cools-His-Hands has no issues with vampires, but his relationship with this "friend" would certainly be changed by witnessing this event. They would probably no longer be friends; guilt by association is something to be avoided.

2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help

Cools-His-Hands would investigate. Brigands should not take advantage of children.

3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p

Cools-His-Hands does not have much of a sweet tooth. They can have it.

4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a friend

Cools-His-Hands would think about it... but probably refuse and warn his friend.

5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride

Words are wind.

Updated my post with the new questions.

Also here's some of my own that might be good to think about.

-A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy.

I really like this thread. It is really helping me to flesh out my character with this weird little scenarios that you normally wouldn't think to put your character in.

1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do? - This conflict's heavily with Revins beliefs however a friend is a friend and he would help them aslong as they are willing

2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help - Revin would help out but would expect coin for his troubles if they cant afford it Revin would probably still help out

3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p - Intimidation goes a long way with thieves

4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a friend - Revin would be insulted by the other and investigate into it, Revin would never betray a friend

5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride - Revin would try to swallow his pride however if the insults continue then Revin would retaliate, with his fists

6. a thief approaches you, you recognise him, he's a lowly street rat born poor and had to struggle for food and money, he demands you to hand over your good! and pulls out a knife - Revin has respect for robin hood styled theives but not pety theives, revin would harshly drop the kid to the ground disarming him in the process and once the theif stands up battered and bruised revin would toss him a coin for his trouble as a sign that the lesson was learnt

7. The murderer of a good friend of yours passes you in a crowded street, he doesn't recognise you - Revin's emotions would get the better of him and without warning he would strike murderer in the crowded street, not thinking of the consequences

8. You witness a crime, the victim is unaware that he is about to be a victim - Depending on the crime, if not mega seirous Revin would just let it happen (that's life) however if he see's a kidnapping or attemptive murder Revin would intrude the situation in a way he see's best (shouting out, ambush the kidnapper, etc)

9. Someone you hate is trying his / her best to make friends with you - For Revin to actually hate someone it would mean for them to have hurt him deeply, the only way he would accept there apology is for them to save his life or do somthing on that magnitude

10. you have been offered an artifact of GREAT power! you have heard / read that this artifact is evil and dangerous and is better to be destroyed! - Revin has dealt with the deadra before and this artifact sounds like their doing, the artifact would be destroyed without a second thought

11. A person is victim to an agonizing disease that cannot be cured, they will soon die a slow and painful death. They ask that you stop their suffering and end their life. - Revin would agree to the request as he believes it would be the right thing to do

12. A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy. - (Very hard choice) Revin's soilder instincts would kick in and would allow him to live (this is if the enemy warrior only killed allies in combat and no trickery)

- Revin's desire is to attone for what he's done in the past. Revin would softly grab his friends shoulder and will insist he is the one to go, without waiting for an answer Revin would enter the gate.

14. Many years ago, a close family member of yours volunteered to fight in a war. During one the battles he was slain by an enemy soldier. Now you have encountered that very same soldier living a peaceful life with a family on a farmstead. - War is war, Revin would not apporach the soilder, (unless he boasts about slaying his family then that is a different matter)

15. You have spent a month looking for a lost priceless treasure in the mountains. Once you find it however, you find out that it rightfully belongs to a nearby village.[/size] - The villiage can have it as long as Revin is paid for his troubles (if it truely is priceless they will pay for it back)

Faction & Race:
Daggerfall Covenant (Orc)
1. There is some one in your town who you like, a friend. The other night you find him feeding on a beggar .... s/he's a vampire. what do you do?

A vampire is an animal, but not one fit for companionship. If need be, it will be hunted as such.

2. Some one has had their only child kidnapped and is looking for help

This is a matter to be left to the city guard.

3. Some one stole your Sweet roll ;p

Khaz doesn't leave food unattended. The thief would have been caught in the act and may very well have lost a hand.

4. Some one is offering you a life changing amount of money to kill a friend

Coin is a burden. You only need enough to trade for basic supplies and food (for when you are stuck in town for a few days at a time).

5. A drunken person at a bar insults your pride

One less drunk.

6. a thief approaches you, you recognise him, he's a lowly street rat born poor and had to struggle for food and money, he demands you to hand over your good! and pulls out a knife

Khaz would attempt to intimidate the thief into running off, but only once. If the thief insisted, there would be bloodshed.

7. The murderer of a good friend of yours passes you in a crowded street, he doesn't recognise you

An axe flies almost as swiftly as an arrow, and in the right hands, just as accurately.

8. You witness a crime, the victim is unaware that he is about to be a victim

Khaz isn't involved, nor is it his place to interfere.

9. Someone you hate is trying his / her best to make friends with you

Friends aren't something Khaz wants or needs. He would ignore all attempts by said person.

10. you have been offered an artifact of GREAT power! you have heard / read that this artifact is evil and dangerous and is better to be destroyed!

Depending on what the artifact was or did, Khaz might take it with him, though he doesn't care for magical trinkets.

11. A person is victim to an agonizing disease that cannot be cured, they will soon die a slow and painful death. They ask that you stop their suffering and end their life.

Mercy killings are part of the hunt. The victim's request would most likely be respected.

12. A great warrior of an opposing faction has slain many of your allies but is forced to yield to you after a battle. They are now at your mercy.

Unless they killed with weapon in hand, there is no honor in killing this warrior, though it would be done to ensure victory.

Khaz would oblige his friend's request for a glorious death. He would do everything in his power to get him through the portal, even if this person were a stranger.

14. Many years ago, a close family member of yours volunteered to fight in a war. During one the battles he was slain by an enemy soldier. Now you have encountered that very same soldier living a peaceful life with a family on a farmstead.

War is a predator that claims the lives of many. When you are on the hunt, you don't aim for the teeth, even if you have been bitten once before.

15. You have spent a month looking for a lost priceless treasure in the mountains. Once you find it however, you find out that it rightfully belongs to a nearby village.

The treasure would be exchanged for goods and services. There's no need for trinkets and treasures on the road.
