i thought that since we have a crating section now we might as well have a thread that can contain all of the tips and tricks we want to share in regards to and crafting skill. ill start with some smithing tips:
  • when you need iron go back to bleak rock and go all the way around the smaller island bit to the north
  • this might be invalid now but preveously because coldharbour had so many chests lying around it was a great way to get racial motifs

ill make some more later.

one thing that would be nice is some stuff about ways to get lots of aspect runes for enchanting

For Any Crafting
  • Pair up with a friend/guildie and trade your crafted items for more crafting exp, as when you deconstruct your own crafted gear you get a reduction on exp/resources gained.
  • Get keen eye, it will make life so much easier when collecting resources, especially woodcrafting

If you are a part of the AD, when in Auridon head to Mathiisen, there are plenty of wolves and bears there to cull for Rawhide

although keen eye for runes isn't that useful 'cause they already produce light, and from further away

Is there anywhere that we can see the models for what we're making, especially clothing/armor but also weaponry.
Knowing what a thing will look like tips the balance for me if I have enough mats for only one thing and the prospective stats are similar.
Last night it was "make shoulders or belt?" and I didn't know what either would (or could, if multiple models) look like.

you can't see how their coloured but when your selecting what you want to make it shows you what that type of item.

its in the top row of the creation section. it's a bit small but you should be able to make out the general appearence

Very true. deconstructing other player crafted items yields the most inspiration. Only the item level determines the amount of inspiration. Player crafted level 6 iron daggers give you the most bang for your buck in blacksmithing.

Pm me if you want to trade level 6 iron daggers for the same

Keen eye really helps me gather more mats from nodes but lately ive been running into phantom nodes. All glow with no mats. I have to relog or all nodes will be dead to me.

Outside the Beta I have only played AD but it should be the same for all alliances. For AD players, when you get to the Mage guild quest to explore Ondil, farm it. What you are after is a complete set of gear with the trait "intricate". This is a trait that players cannot research but gives you crafting inspiration. Regardless of your class you want a one handed weapon and a shield to maximise this attribute. It makes a huge difference. What I now need is the ability to lock/mark items in my inventory as "not for sale"/"not for deconstruction". It would be a simple addition that would make life a lot easier.

So, traits are a bit like enchants, when you make a piece of armour you can put a trait on it, for example "Exploration Bonus". These traits will cost a kind of rock to make (which changes depending on your trait). You can get these traits from items that you get from loot, simply go into the research tab, here it will tell you what you will unlock the trait on, and what trait you're getting. This will consume the item, and you will receive the trait after about 6hrs, depending on the trait and your level.

Anymore questions just reply to this post

Thank you @Mukmoo.
- Another question, i have read that to level crafting in the 'fastest way' im supposed to work with a friend or someone else and exchange items and salvage them. But my question this times is, is it better to craft for example "A rawhide jacket as good as possible" or craft it lame everytime? I mean how many rawhide you use per one Jacket.

Is there a craftingtable for this anywhere?
Thanks.

/K

Found this on the reddit.
Robe - 7 Jute - level 1 - XP Gained: 59 - XP Per Jute: 8.4
Robe - 13 Jute - level 14 - XP Gained: 268 - XP Per Jute: 20.6
Boots - 5 Jute - Level 1 - XP Gained: 59 - XP Per Jute: 11.8
Boots - 6 Jute - Level 4 - XP Gained: 115 - XP per Jute: 19.1
Boots - 7 Jute - Level 6 - XP Gained: 152 - XP per Jute: 21.7
Boots - 8 Jute - Level 8 - XP Gained: 177 - XP per Jute: 22.1
Boots - 9 Jute - Level 10 - XP Gained: 213 - XP per Jute: 23.67
Boots - 10 Jute - Level 12 - XP Gained: ??? - XP Per Jute ???
Boots - 11 Jute - Level 14 - XP Gained: 268 - XP Per Jute: 24.4

So, you gain more exp per item, (jute is just an example) when crafting the highest as possible.
I think we covered trading in an earlier post
Hope this helped.

Ok Ive currently maxed levelled 2 Professions, Provisioning and Alchemy and have max skill points in both. And I am currently working on all the other professions! So perhaps I can be of use!

Provisioning!
- Searching in desks, Wardrobes, Backpacks, chests, drawers. And other storage containers of similar kind will result in obtaining lots of recipes! Also motifs..
- Towns are the best places to pillage for ingredients, take everything from one town, move to the next..
- Invest skill points into making higher level recipes, and buy from another player the highest level recipe you can make and the ingredients to make it, it will level you up faster than light.
- Make friends with players from other alliances, trade your recipes for theirs, each faction has its own unique recipes! Also consider they also have their own ingredients!! So be mindful you probably won't be making a lot of that stuff until you are 50+
- Avoid the hirelings! They will bring you an insignificant amount of ingredients obtainable by opening a single container!

Alchemy!
- Keen eye is your friend, you will need a lot of plants, and they can be expensive to buy.
- When looking for traits, if you want it easy, Google the traits and save yourself some reagents. Otherwise enjoy experimenting.
- There are only a small amount of ingredients, and the first ones you find will be useful all the way to VR10, so stock 'em up.
- Spent skill points on producing higher level potions, and buy the water you require. alternatively you can swim down rivers in zones full of nasty beasties and only come to shore to pick up Water Hyacinth, Nirnroot and Pure Water nodes.
- You will be able to find higher level water from searching in crates, barrels, urns and similar containers than what you would find in a river!
- When creating a potion take note of the negative effects! Ravaging your own health for stamina is not ideal! so try to stack positive effects, there is also a skill to reduce negative effects by up to 100%
- Invest in the skill to use 3 reagents! A potion with multiple effects of stronger effects is much more worth your time.

Blacksmith, Clothing and Woodworking!
- You will gain most inspiration from deconstructing items, The current best known way is to craft a lot of a specific item such as daggers or boots, then trade it will a fellow who has done the same!
- Power levelling these skills is not all that useful! You will need traits to make these items worth your time. Traits take time. I would highly recommend investing skill points in reducing research times and allowing for multiple researches at once. (Researching also provide inspiration).
- Invest in Hirelings they can bring you resources that you will need! Including the reagents needed to upgrade the quality, which can be very very hard to obtain otherwise! (especially the last quality upgrade).
- You can camp mini bosses for the high item drop rate which will allow you to deconstruct large amounts of varying items. (I am able to level all 3 of these professions simultaneously).
- Search for motifs from Desks, wardrobes, drawers, chests, backpacks and other similar containers, alternatively find your local Provisioner, they will tend to have Motifs lying around!

Enchanting!
- This is possibly the hardest profession to level quickly, however all equipment crafters will throw money into your coffers!
- There are 3 Types of rune stones, Potency(level of the time, effect), Essence(effect) and Aspect(quality).
- Creating Glyphs will provide abysmal inspiration, But may prove useful when applied to your equipment.
- The best way to gain enchanting inspiration is to buy/obtain High level glyphs (purple) and deconstruct them.
- When looking for new traits you know you have discovered one when you see "Unknown Glyph" instead of seeing an actual glyph, saving you the trial and error process!

I hope I have been useful, I am still learning myself! If you have any questions, hit me up!
