Faction & Race:
Ebonheart Pact
Argonian
Name - Dee-Zara

title - Captain of "The Serpent" a medium sized brig-like pirate ship

Sex - Female

Race - Argonian

Age - 31 by the time of ESO

Occupation - Pirate captain

Faction - The Serpent, she has no intent on helping anyone but her crew

Appearance - Dee-Zara has emerald green scales and stands around 5'7. On her head are two horns with a few smaller spikes on her brow and chin along with a tuft of purple feathers. Her throat is crimson red and is fairly muscly for an argonian due to her spending most of her life doing hard work or fighting. Dee-Zara has a soft harmless voice but she has the talent of changing that immediately by making her voice boom across the deck of her beloved ship. Her voice is very persuasive and extremely charismatic which has helped her get where she is today. When she is boarding ships she covers her face in blood red war paint and puts on a hood to protect her identity which allows her to travel tamriel without her infamy.

Personality - Dee-Zara is very charismatic and loved by her crew. She has a problem with authority, developed by her time spent serving in the imperial navy so she turned to serving only herself. Dee-Zara strongly believes that everyone is equal and no king, queen or emperor should own you. She loves power, the sort of power you can only get from being an extremely successful pirate captain. Dee-Zara is egotistical, she loves being the centre of attention which is easily possible when you're job is to mercilessly attack countless numbers of ships. She claims to be "Queen of The Ocean" due to getting cocky over never losing a ship battle while aboard The Serpent and is also a sort of joke among her crew to boost morale and show them they are strong. She loves her drink and was once an alcoholic but eventually overcame that challenge however she does like the odd drink, in 'moderation'. She is usually very merry and believes that you should live each day as if it's your last to make the most out of your short existence on nirn. She is a slight Pyromaniac and coupled with her near mastery of flame spells makes her a force to be reckoned with but as you can imagine is a double edged sword as there's always the possibility of burning her own ship down.

Social Background/Backstory - Dee-Zara was born in Lilmoth to an average family of fishermen. She was taught from a very young age how to fish and was taken on many boat rides. Her parents were magic enthusiasts and raised Dee-Zara to use magic. When she was 14 she joined a small fishing company which brought her great experience when sailing, however she wasn't trusted with too much responsibility due to her age. She was taught how to handle a sword by some of her co-workers and she turned out to be a natural however she still preferred using magic to defend herself. When Dee-Zara was 18 she set out on a journey to Cyrodil to join the Imperial Navy. She hoped to prove herself and gain fame as an amazing sailor and go on to captain her own ship but she was unaware of how badly the Empire had crumbled. They barely had any power but she was determined to become great, but her experience was far from great...

Dee-Zara had to train under the imperial captain named Titus Maevus. Titus was famous for being the harshest captain in the entire crumbling empire and was said to have connections with the ruling Tharn family. These connections have saved Titus' hide countless times after recruits go "missing" or an "accident" occurs on deck. His temper is a force to be feared, however the ones who do survive his training go onto be great sailors under Titus himself who is a very capable captain and naval tactician to say the least. Dee-Zara was determined to pass her training and as luck would have it there was high demand for mages as she happened to be which made her training that little bit easier.

Once Dee-Zara's training was complete she was recruited fully into Titus' crew. For awhile her and the ship just patrolled the coast of Cyrodil and nothing happened. This made Dee-Zara very frustrated as she signed up to fight, gain glory and become a famous sailor and maybe even one day a captain. One day when Dee-Zara was particularly agitated she started a fight with one of the other crew members, it was a vicious and bloody fight and Dee-Zara ended up seeing the ships healer. It was bad enough having her pride hurt by losing so terribly but to rub salt in the wounds Titus humiliated her by forcing Dee-Zara to do the pettiest and most degrading jobs like scrub the decks with her own clothes or being a servant to every single soul on board. She felt Titus hated her and deliberately picked on her, maybe he did, but she managed to slightly redeem herself when they were attacked by pirates... It was a foggy day off the coast of black marsh when they were attacked. Luckily Dee-Zara was on watch and managed to spot the pirates in time, a fight ensued and the crew fought bravely and won. For a second Dee-Zara thought Titus would show her some respect but she was very wrong and all he did was remind her of the humiliating tasks she had to perform. This was the pint when she developed a problem...

The crew and Titus were eternally horrible to her, they constantly taunted her and generally bullied her so she turned to her only friend- drink. Drinking was the only thing that made her career bearable, that's why she stayed. Because it was bearable. After years of fighting and humiliation they ended up off the coast of morrowind. There was a storm going on, everyone was frantically rushing to tie up ropes, change the sails or tie things down. Dee-Zara was drunk at that point but was able to run, well more like stumble around. She was tasked with changing the sails so the mast could cope with the wind but she fell and blacked out. The wind was too much for the sails and they were ripped off however it took part of the mast with it. When they got out of the storm 5 crew members had been killed, 3 from the debris of Dee-Zara's mistake. Titus was furious and his anger he had her whipped 25 times, stripped naked and then tied to the mast of the ship. This was the single worst experience of her life, she had been humiliated for years but this was a hole new level. As Titus was in the process of humiliating her in front of the entire crew a hail of arrows came out from the fog, impaling a few of the crew. Pirates...

A battle ensued but the imperial ship was quickly over run by pirates, Titus and a few of his cowardly underlings escaped but most were captured or killed. Dee-Zara was imprisoned along with 8 other crew members. Luckily for Dee-Zara things just fell into place for her, a chance at a better life presented itself and she took it. First of all she observed the crew were VERY inexperienced, it was probably their first boarding. Their captain was also extremely harsh and hated by the crew, he clearly ran the ship with pure fear. Dee-Zara used her charismatic charm and magic to break free and inspire a mutiny, with some great lies she managed to weave her way into the position of captain. And a great captain she was...

The ship was made in the traditional dunmer style and was fairly small but it was able to put up a fight. The first order of business was to train the crew, which was hard but doable in the end. Secondly Dee-Zara had all the loot from her imperial ship sold and lastly... She ordered the execution of every single one of her imprisoned former crew mates. "That'll show the bastards" she said as their heads fell from their necks. With them dead Dee-Zara tried to tackle her drinking problem but to no avail. Over the next year she went on a pirating rampage across the coast of morrowind and Skyrim. However at this point her crew was weak and the ship all but destroyed, but she had one crazy idea that would mean life or death. Near vvardenfell she spotted an imperial brig-like ship, they were unprepared and she knew it. She took the chance and blasted the enemy's sails with a fire bolt, leaving them immobile. Dee-Zara sent her ship hurtling towards the enemy and successfully rammed them with devastating power. A battle ensued but the ship was hers. And guess who was on board, Titus Maevus. Without hesitation she set him alight and slaughtered the crew. With this new found infamy she gained a lot of crew and an amazing reputation for success. Her new ship would be called "The Serpent" due to her favoured tactic of waiting in the shadows for the perfect time to deliver a killing blow, like a snake does. As her infamy grew she fashioned an intimidating disguise for boarding that made her look like a daedra. "The Serpent" has been fitted with a ram, a serpent figurehead and a coating of treated fireproof leather to the hull which looks a lot like scales, adding to it's namesake. She has never lost a battle and this has made her cocky to the point of recklessness... Well at least she's mostly over her drinking problem!

Best Memory - Becoming captain of The Serpent, to put it simply

Worst Memory - Being punished and humiliated by her captain. She had joined the navy for a chance at glory but all she got was torture, day in day out. Dee-Zara was never called by her name, she was simply known as "Runt". Some of the crew genuinely didn't even know her real name. She hated the crew but Titus... She had a bloodlust for Titus. She swore to be the one to end his life, and she did.

Skills - Dee-Zara is great at swordsmanship but her true talents lie with destruction magic. Fire to be even more precise. She has attributed her success to her mastery of fire, which has led to her loving it. A lot. Of course her main skill is that of ship captaining, she is good with tactics and general crew management. Finally Dee-Zara is a stunning and inspiring speaker which has gotten her out of the worst of situations.

Challenges for the Character - She is a pyromaniac and is always in danger of hurting herself and the crew. Her cockiness has led to recklessness and an egotistical personality which means she has put her crew in some extremely tough positions. Dee-Zara, as you know, was once an alcoholic. She doesn't mind the odd drink but she has relapsed several times. All these problems have endangered her most loved feature- her personality. It is only a matter of time before this self destructive nature ruins her charismatic charm.

Religious Views - Her only life view is "Live a short and merry life. Take what you want and live how you please"

First of all I'm biased because of the RP, but I'll try to be objective.
(I like how you choose her to be in the RP during her problematic time, btw.)

- "Dee-Zara strongly believes that everyone is equal and no king, queen or emperor should own you. She loves power, the sort of power you can only get from being an extremely successful pirate captain."
That's the only thing I don't really get - You shouldn't be owned but loves having power?
And directly after that:
- "Dee-Zara is egotistical, she loves being the centre of attention which is easily possible when you're job is to mercilessly attack countless numbers of ships. She claims to be "Queen of The Ocean" due to getting cocky over never losing a ship battle while aboard The Serpent."
So she hates kings and stuff and calls herself 'Queen of the Ocean'? Lol wut?
Did you do that to show her arrogance or...?

And now after being confused, here the happy part (=D):
Like her drinking-thing, no matter what happened, good or bad... the drinking sort of stayed XD It makes her character a little less overpowered and I like to read about flaws and imperfection of characters - so I really love her being a pyromaniac. I also like her backstory, it isn't all rainbows and unicorns - like I said, makes her less overpowered.

Over all a nice character, but I'd like to know about her position when it comes to violence and humiliation - would she never do it or do it to her worst enemies?

The queen of the ocean stuff is just to show her descent into becoming an arrogant egotistical criminal. It's half there to show how she's strayed from her views and believes it to some extent and just there because she uses it for fun among her crew and shows she is truly powerful over her enemy. I'll add that bit in.

The everyone is equal bit stems from the idea of the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean. The pirates didn't care if you were black, white, a man or a woman. They were all free and had their own power over the tyrannical empires that controlled most of the world. They were anarchists and independent. It also shows how democracy and the idea of freedom is flawed. some people believe that there is no true freedom with laws, civilisation and government. I'm not going to start a political debate here but that is something that some people believe.

Thanks for your feedback, it's really appreciated!

Thanks, I spent the most time on this one. Partly due to my ac4 hype and partly due to how I like writing.
