Thanks! I like your profile too!

A question, if I may - How do I make my picture the same size / scale as yours? Seems a lot better...

Click on it, grab the link (which is actually http://www.tesof.com/attachment.php?aid=20 ) and then add the [img] tags around it.

Yeah, that's the problem with using the attachment feature like this (it needs to be in the post, otherwise the system automatically deletes orphaned attachments).

Alternatively, you can upload to a site like Photobucket or Imgur if you don't want the attachment at the bottom to show up.

I really like how much work and detail you're putting into him, that's quite the dedication!

The one thing that confuses me though is his age. I'm not a pro on lore, but for as far as I've gathered, Breton people would, despite their elven blood mixed in, have human lifespans. So would it actually be possible to grow so old as a Breton?

Magic, my dear Triskele, magic. It's known that powerful mages are able to extend their lives with longevity spells, most commongly Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft (vague), and a the Elder Scrolls (Telvanni wizard-lords)

Now, where's that overpowered spell from the Forgotten Realms... Ah yes, here it is, as an example:

Now that's a way of putting it.

Naw that was rude. But truly I'd say that Divayth Fyr was more of an exception rather than a rule, and the argument of "I'm as strong as him so there" is kinda... Well, just look at it, it's hardly a compelling argument ;>

Well, I'm of course aware magic can do extraordinary things in several settings, games and universes. But taking spells/magic/rulesets from different games to use in another world seems a bit invalid, that's like taking abilities from a Night Elf to give to an Altmer xD Then again, I don't know the entire TES-spellbook, so if prolonging lifespans is a common thing I stand corrected ^^

Edit: Just read up on Telvanni, that honestly seems exception rather than rule :\

No no, you misunderstand me, Vrage. No-one ever said anything about being "as powerful as" - quite certain that old Divayth could wack everyone around with his little finger; you could too if you lived 4000 years, which is considerably longer than 900 - and the link was merely an example.

Still, longevity is no more exception than it is in any other fantasy setting. Take it from someone who's roleplayed those kind of characters throughout his roleplaying career. Bloody WoW.

And Triskele, I'm not taking anything from another setting, that's something nooblet-roleplayers do, not old foxes who have been at this playset for too long.

Fyr was able to reach 4000 for a reason, by being this all-powerful being who could simply not die. The mere concept of being able to do the same is one that I'm right now scrolling through UESP and the imperial library trying to find -some- way to convince me that you have a point, the only things that come to my mind are Lichhood (at an obvious self loss) and Vampirism (at an obvious self loss)

The terrible thing in WoW was (during the short amount of time I've been on there) was that people could not see the difference between "let's be creative" and "let's toss all common sense out of the window". So I feel you there, haha. I've been roleplaying for give or take eight years now and what I saw in a single night on WoW surpasses all the bad I've seen in all other games combined.

The tricky thing about roleplaying a magical character is that it's quickly overdone, and before long people will start flinging the Mary-Sue word without even wanting to hear you out, which is sometimes justified but often a shame. I was just curious how grounded the whole age-thing was, lore-wise :)

Anyway, I don't want to derail your bio with a debate, so pardon the question xD

It's a standard ruleset that those who practice magic to a certain degree have some advantages of age, that's like... the Golden Rule of Magic ;P And quite frankly, I don't expect my Breton to go beyond 1000, so the whole "he got 4000 for a reason" doesn't hold water. But yeah, sure, I can show you just one piece of lore for longevity:

I'm actually quite glad you ask, that's how you get clarification on things.

What can I say, of course WoW is lame, that's why I don't roleplay on my mage so much these days.

The whole overdone Mary-Sue thing? Believe me, there's no bigger hater of that than me - which is quite ironic, if you think about it. I don't really think anyone but myself capable of pulling it off, but then again, I'm arrogant as a tree ;P

Ah, but my characters are far from flawless, and you'll just have to take my word that I am doing it the right way. That's what I've done on Argent Dawn for the past five years.
