What would be the best weapon choice for a Dragonknight Nord, using either a Sword and sheild, or a greatsword? Do you think ill be able to use the same abilities for both fighting styles?

Weapon choice depends on what you want to achieve with your character, do you want to Tank? Hit things with a big sword/axe/hammer? Hit things with two weapons? Shoot things with a bow? Launch fireballs at enemies? Heal your allies?

As for abilities, I'm guessing you would be able to put the same abilities on both bars if you want to.

I want to have high survivability. In Skyrim, I used a sword and a shield mostly, and a bow for ranged. Would play style still work? And would that make me a tank or DPS?

It sounds like it could work, start from afar with your bow to deal some damage then when your enemy gets close you can pull out the sword and shield to finish him, it would make you capable of tanking and ranged dps.

Plus as a dragonknight id have some fire magic if i need it. Don't know how useful the spells are, but they could help.

If you want to tank then go for the sword and shield, because you have fiery reach though the bow is obsolete as a result I would recommend something else. However it is up to you and the bow is viable. If you want to have a high damage output come tank then go for the big heavy great sword. You could have a sword and shield and a two handed weapon; tanking sometimes and smashing shit up other times. I will do this for my alt. Good day.

You could be a heavy DPS if you wanted to go sword and board. I was considering it before but thought I'd just go straight DPS and use a big freaking sword. But as a DPS sword and board you would be sacrificing some DPS on weapon swings but might last a little longer in a fight. Also I think in the weapon skills lines on TF I saw a sword and board ability which was noticeably offensive as opposed to the tanky abilities in the rest of the line.

If you wanted to be DPS using a shield you won't be using weapon abilities much i can see class skills and world skills being a lot more useful to you as a make up source of DPS.
