Hey, listen to my weirdo idea please :D ("Hey Listen" reminds me of Navi from Zelda....)

So first I'm all skoomaed up. As I'm playing Skyrim I stop to eat. As I stop eating all of a sudden it shot to 3rd person mode. I always play in first person and I never switch so I began staring at my character who has covered his whole body in light armor and you couldn't even see any skin. Then when I looked at his head it hit me. You should be able to wear masks as a cosmetic item w/slight perks and and the usual hood of course without a mask. But if you have a full helmet like iron/steel/ebony/orchish etc... you can't wear a mask.

So when we create our characters we can basically have additional equips compared from the traditional TES game.

Now.. masks don't have to be the only real face equips. They could have something like an earring instead? A pair of earrings? Tattoo? and they can only have 1 of those for the face.

As they progress further into the game and follow the P2P model they could then start adding onto this by opening new slots like, gloves, splitting the face equip into both, earrings and masks even if the masks covers it. They would add small bonuses but it would be pretty creative!

that was pretty hard to understand but i think i get what you want. you want a "vanity slot" where you can equip items that are displayed on your character but dont match your actual equipment.
well first im fairly sure a "hide helmet" option will be there.

As for vanity slots... its a maybe. i usually like this feature, but its weird in tes. probably limit it to use an armor type that matches the one you actuallyl wear.

and for PvP it shouldt work, as knowing what your enemy is wearing is important.

knowing what your enemy is wearing should be the least of your concerns in this zerg pvp where numbers > all.

as for the vanity equip thing i dont like it. i think vanity shops should be in the game ie tattoo parlours piercing stores barber...so these things can be changed with splashing a few gold coins.

but i do think recipes for these should be gained when adventuring just like a profession recipe should.. the more you explore the more random recipes you will find creating a vast array of vanity and choice for your character. and make them tradable xo

I like vanity pieces as a means of a gold sink and I also like the idea of having your actual equipment hidden and being able to use other pieces for appearances.

@Konahrik even in zerg PvP a I think good team should still target healers first and then move on to other squishy targets.

So I think that perhaps once you enter Cyrodiil you should have to have your actual gear shown - they could back this up from a immersion standpoint by saying you have to be identified by your faction or something and that the cosmetic gear would be confusing.

Cosmetic slots are great, and in my opinion a must in every game. LotrO has been doing it right for years, Rift picked it up fairly recently, as did AoC. I'm a sucker for customisation, and with vanity slots and, preferably, a dye-system (GW2 is doing it right), the amount of options goes through the roof. There's always a moment where you don't exactly feel lovestruck with the armour you are currently wearing. A simply toggle can make you look just as you want in that case. I'm all for that.

Hmmm i agree with everyone else on this thread that there should be cosmetics in this game. And i think they should be a must for most of the time i don't like the gear i am wearing (although i never had this problem in ES i have had it in other games).

I was thinking though if these slots for customization just act as another upgradeable equip. So you could have like +10 magicka on an earring or +10 health. i played maplestory when i was younger and the whole act of customization really grew on me from that game. They made it super simple where you would just double tap and equip items like most games. But the amount of armor you could wear is just insane.

In a report I read that in the equipment menu, the armor you posses would "hang around the character like a ring" while the armor you wear is on your body. Any changes in the "ring" would change your characters armor immidiatly. I don´t know wether there is one huge "ring" or a small for every available "slot" (helmet, gloves, boots...).

If we get cosmetic items, I'd better be able to get a big bear pelt and wrap my Nord up with it.

I agree with you Liger i believe they should do that with the equipment.

I am all for vanity and cosmetic items, i want to haw extra "dangers and knifes" to put on my rogue, like at back waist legstraps, etc. not to mention eye patch , or scarf would be so cool. Hoods and cloaks is a must, i wish for option to haw hood over/instead of your current helmet, and stats count as helmet would be equipped. And at pvp, enemy wouldn't see your cosmetics, only allies and your self would see them, this way i we could keep good looks, and enemy still had chance to see our gear.

Since this is "Equipment Slots" topic, do any one knows if we can haw 2 different weapons equipped at same time? Like bow and dual wiled swords, or huge sword and double axe? i think GW2 does this... and if 3/6 cast slot would change with the weapon ( since other 3 depend on your class) it would give more options combat vise... or is it too op?

I was thinkning that as well because I want to dual wield and use a bow, so how will the weapon switching work??? That brings up a whole new topic but I feel you should defintely be able to swap between two types of weapons with ease. 1 for long range if you prefer and then another for a melee. But I want cosmetics as well, even though that wasn't the point I was getting at. it would make characters look unique from each other

They said that as long as you are out of combat you can switch your armor and weapons.

well... is kinda obvious you can do that >_< ... but the question is can you do it in combat? like you start with bow and then press F or G or any key, and switch weapon to sword and finish the fight in melee. I know you cent switch weapons and armor from your bad during the combat, but if they make 2 weapon equip slots to haw 2 different weapons at all time would be great.

I think Zinimax should do what SOE done with DCUO. For those that are unfamiliar, you collect armor styles as you equip new armor. And you can change these styles as you please. Say you have some high teir armor, but you like the look of say a helmet you have found earlier... You could change your helmet style, but keep the stats from the other helm. This goes for all armor pieces.

I really enjoyed the customization in that game, and think it would work fabulously in TESO.
