Eso currently has 9 provinces, how big is each province compared to skyrim? Also eso have said that not all provinces are going to be released from day 1 and they will be available in the future by an expansions, but will they charge you for it like wow do? I'm concerned they will which is a joke if your paying subscription fees for the company to divert resources for additional stuff they going to charge you for apron what your paying.

Skyrim is approx. as big as all the maps (5?) of any one alliance. For reference:
Tamriel map

They have pledged to continuously give us more content for our subscription fees. That said, I can't say that paid DLC is not a possibility. But I don't think they will charge us for them over and above the subscription.

i fully expect them to charge for future map expansions. think about it, they would need to expand all three factions simultaneously with new voice work and new questing and dungeons.

thats a huge endeavor - one id be willing to help fund.

The joke is the countless people who do not know that it costs to run customer service, and servers.
There are a lot of other costs involved in it all.

However I do not expect them to release 'expansions' in the way WoW did.

Take a look at Craglorn, this is the first adventure zone, and note that it is a ZONE!
Its not just a 'raid' its an actual area with things to do as a party, including content for small and large parties etc.
That is just one of the monthly content promises they gave us.

So I think if there is an expansion it will dwarf other MMO expansions!
Because they are throwing out significant content on a monthly basis.

So look at it this way. You buy the game, and get a month free. this is standard, you then pay $15 a month.. Id pay $15 for Craglorn..

That's what you took from what Rickter said? No, YOU'RE the JOKE Toptom. Apparently you only read the part you WANT to see. Try reading it again. That's NOT what Rickter said. If you can't see that, then I can't help you either. Or is it you are just one of those Trolls?

I'm saying I don't get why I'm paying sub for a customer service desk and content which should already be in the game or the beta fixes. The sub should cover future expansions your already paid for the game and paying a heft sub. 5 million beta keys were given out alone!! Say one in 5 carry buy eso and sub for a year that's 100 million and that's just PC not the xbone and ps4. Your telling me they need all that extra money for a customer service desk get real.

Uh actually, I am the one that misread Rickter's post. I'm sorry, all I can do at this point is apologize for that, my bad. I didn't see his "i fully expect them to charge" part, or more accurately I mis-read it just as I accused you of (I had my mind on other things too). I have retracted my prev post.

Well I just have to say, that's his opinion (Rickter), not a fact. The fact is they have 'pledged' to give us lots of new content for our subscription payment. In my opinion, this means many new maps too. Did you see all those empty spots on the current Tamriel map? I expect them to make new areas for us with no extra DLC charges, for at least half of that. Now that I have discredited myself...

What content should already be in the game? Should the content they release in 2 months, 6 months, a year later already be in the game? If so, then all games are betas, and you never truly get to experience the full game until the developer decides not to support that game any more, and boom, there is your finished product.

WoW is subscription based and you pay for any major content upgrades, a.k.a expansions. Do they provide some content in between the expansions? Yes.

What you want is a game that will potentially last a decade, to come with all the bells and whistles, all the maintenance, all the employees, and all the hardware to provide you the best gaming experience possible, all while you pay just the $60 for the game. Well, sorry to tell you this, but a company that is going to have an ongoing budget for the life of the game is not going to just sell you the game, then sit back and eat all of those expenses. You will pay one way or another (I have played games with micro-transactions, and I much prefer the sub) either through sub fees, cash shops, or content purchase.

Just think about the first adventure zone they just released. If this game was not subscription based, that little addition there would not be available to you unless you were willing to pay for it. As a matter of fact, they would probably lock each zone, and you would have to pay to access each one (a lot of F2P games do this type of stuff). That means you would pay $60 for a game, that you couldn't even fully explore, and if you wanted to zip through the game and beat it within a week, you would end up paying more like $100 just to unlock everything.

If you just don't like subscriptions, that is your prerogative, but that is the route that TESO has taken, so that they can attempt to provide you with a AAA game, regular content additions/updates, and customer/technical service. I realize that some people have had issues with the customer service so far, but the game just launched, and no major MMO launch has ever been trouble free.

Also, as far as I know, the devs have not stated whether we would have to purchase expansions, and even talked as though ALL future content, including expansions, would just be a part of the subscription fees. Now they didn't elaborate, so I am not going to hold my breath, but even if they come out with an expansion once every couple of years that costs $30-60, what does it matter considering that in an MMO, an expansion can have as much or more content than a single player game that costs you the same thing?

I would have kept playing WoW for longer than I did, but I got tired of the people there, not the game. I didn't mind paying a sub fee for SWTOR, but it lost out due to my time constraints with college and work, and now I don't have a computer to run it, so I haven't been back, but I wouldn't mind getting back into that game, and I would pay the sub to have full access to the game.

If you just don't want to pay a monthly sub, or don't have the means too, that is your choice/situation. Please stop acting like the company is trying to rip you off however, just because you don't like their business model. The first rule of a for-profit business is to make money, not run a charity.

Well this game took 5 years to make and cost you $60, your paying $180 per year for extra content. it aint worth $15 a month the customer wont be getting value for money. To say that its only $15 naive. Yes i do work and yes i can afford to pay $15.

@Toptom has a point, the sub is supposed to cover the influx of future content. we paid full retail for the game so it should be complete. the free month is complimentary and shoudnt be seen as a charity of any kind, its an expected industry standard.

honestly im a little upset that level 7-30 non veteran early quests are not able to complete. thats almost inexcusable considering we are talking level 7 quests bugged its almost like the devs havent played their own game.

i understand development cycle is not chronological but im sure the multiple betas and consistent PTS server should have picked them up

I see quite the reason to pay using a subscription system for a mmorpg since this game isn't ever "done" in the normal sense.
This game keeps getting content and evolves over the years. Also the sheer amount of content avaiable makes it already worth the subscription in and of itself.

Four things:

1) What does the length of development and $60 price tag matter? $60 is the standard price for new games. If length of development were really taken into consideration, then wouldn't a long development period mean it should cost more?

2) If you think that the $15 a month sub fees is only for future content, then I would say you don't understand how MMO's operate and what it costs to run them. True, you can play a single player game for over 100 hours for $60, but an MMO like this is meant to consume 1,000's of hours over the course of many years (if it is a really good MMO, look at WoW).

3) if your main concern is that the game is not worth $15 a month, then that is something you have to decide for yourself, but that is your personal opinion, and does not mean it is a fact. If everyone else agrees with you (whether it is lack of content, bugs, poor management, etc.), and no one pays for subs, then the game will go F2P anyways, so what will it matter?

4) How is saying that it is only $15 a month naïve. I spend more than that for a 2 hour movie when the wife and I go to a theater. If I don't have a single game holding my attention, I spend close to that amount per month to buy games (if you average them out for the year). Even if you rent games you will spend that much. So why is this service any different than those services/purchases. They are delivering a product 24/7 (excluding server maintenance) and you can invest as much or as little time in it as you desire. You can even not pay the sub fee for a few months if you decide to take a break. Or not pay for a year, and then decide "I think I will get back into TESO for a while" and start paying again.

To summarize, I am not trying to be critical, I would like for you to elaborate. I like to debate, and think it is an excellent way for people to communicate different view points. Even if in the end we don't agree, I respect your opinions.

You and I have discussed this before, and it does seem as though they intend to include future content for the sub fee, but only time will tell. What do you consider complete? Are you saying it is not complete because it still has bugs? I will agree with that, 2 weeks after launch 99% of quest bugs should be gone. The fact that you are still finding a lot of quest bugs is not good. I doubt a game this massive though will ever be bug free, at least not all the time, as updates have a tendency to actually create new problems.

The first thirty days are industry standard, and I don't think anyone here believes they are charity, unless I missed something in someone's post.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining; but if the past Elder Scrolls games are any indication of what will happen, then we will see much added content or added features come out before the bulk of these Qs are fixed. So if that happens, then worry is justified - then we can expect a major ignorance of game bugs such as quests broken. But until that happens, plz keep an optimistic outlook. Plz don't try to 'drag us down with your pessimistic depression.' I hope you are not doing this just to be able to say "I told you so" if you find you were right. If that is the case, I may have decided to quickly when I added you to my "buddies" list months ago.

Agreed. +1.

You guys (all of you exc. Burl & Avidus, incl. ppl that haven't posted here) know this is not a developer's forum, right? It almost sounds as if you are trying to goose devs into fixing the bugs instead of just saying it like it is. Devs are not watching this forum. If you want to do that, you should do it at TF.

@HalloweenWeed please do not over analyze what i was saying. all i did was agree that @Toptom had a point. I agreed with his outlook, specifically that the reatil box cost should have covered a playable game meaning: broken quests, broken MAIN quests are unacceptable. And the subscription should cover the influx of new content.

If you have to reevaluate why you added me to your buddies list because i agreed with someone else's opinion then what are you doing here?

and @Lord Burl - no one implied that the first 30 days was a charity i just wanted to throw that out there as a disclaimer, sorry i should have been more specific.
