The trouble with mods that go beyond the UI, is that we're all not playing separate versions of the game. We're all playing one single game. I wouldn't be a fan of armours or anything else which weren't visible to everyone.

Of course, this would happen with expansions that included new armours, but that would become super complex if anyone could have any combination of perhaps 100 different mods, or more.

And please, let's hope TESO aspires to greater things than GW2, just sayin'.

I love the armor mod idea!!
Would be incredible to commission a custom armor set ;D

@Cools-His-Hands
It would all be server side,(Presumably, lol) so everyone would be able to see each others custom stuff.
The way these guys were talking, you would have to purchase the armor via a special merchant, or some sort of online store.

Thank you so much for the cheese wheel warning. I was not aware of how dangerous they could be.

At least I won't have to add that to my list of stupid ways to die in Skyrim which includes:
Death by cart (TES physics 101: A tripped over cart becomes a spinning deathtrap, the wine inside of it is not worth it!)
Death by dropping 20 swords/axes/ greatswords and daggers on the ground at the same time.

From what I heard, they were saying people could make armour mods, and then ZOS could offer them for sale. This means only a certain selection of people will actually download them. Some will have the meshes on their local machine for the new armour and some won't.

You can't transmit an armour mesh on the fly to users who don't have the mod. That will quickly saturate everyone's connection to the server. The meshes need to reside on the local machine.

I am okay with users submitting armour mods and then having them freely distributed (once approved) in patches to everyone. I'm not okay with having them put up for sale like DLC.

That's what I'm talking about...
A quick patch once or so a week/month to add the custom armor to the vendors.

They are saying that selling them is a possible solution for using the B2P/F2P format. It would still be a patch, not DLC. Just that you would have to pay a small fee to actually use/commission the armor.

Mod's would of course only be visible to the user, but the thing is that they generally have to be regulated in an MMO.

I dont think you quite understand what these guys are wanting.
It wouldnt technically be a Mod. Just armor created by the TES Modding community, that is then approved my Zeni, then sold in-game as user-created content.
