Faction-locked Provinces

The news has been out for a while now about each faction being able to travel only within their own provinces, with the exception of Cyrodiil.

I understand why this is happening, and I assumed that it would be like this because of the way DAoC worked. What are your thoughts on being restricted to your factions provinces? Would you rather be free to travel past these boundaries?

All races can visit all provinces reason: We saw all TES games, they can visit all provinces. Traders can. Ships visit other provinces. Cyrodiil can attack all provinces. Spies can visit there :)

Skyrim (4era) have all races. But logic: We live in the second era, is may very low to view other races in other factions?

So yes, it will unlock at start, just my meaning. We, players, to visit other factions, is of course own risk.

I mean it is very illogic if it will be locked in beginning of TECO, but fine if next exp will unlocked?

I dont like it... I hope an early expansion will unlock this so we can raid each others home land. I think it would be fun if we can "sack" other nations cities...

no it wont. argh you never played an MMO did you? Ganking is not quality expirience. I know that cause i did it. I liked kicking other peoples asses when they tried to farm their twinks. But its just a lame excuse for a PvP system.

...uh... yes

Yes it would be fun if PAX could invade AD and Sack a city in any of that factions nation. Some thing like the when the storm cloaks invaded Whiterun in Skyrim. The invaders could "pillage" the shops and houses, and what not. If a city is sacked then it would be like a 72 hour period where everything is closed and the city would be unusable.

even funner if they added bonuses for city control, like one city would make all MOBs drop better loot in that nation, and if that city is sacked you lose that bonus for the 72 hours...

Nods, thus we must watch on your scum EP groups ;) and we will stop the damning plunders (Dependant on how your server, i guess you will play US server mens I play EU)...Pity!

Yah, it would be fun if it will work in TESO as u said, i.e. 72 hours...Sound good idea. But it is also hard. Guards + defensive players against one little plunder-group. WoW is may easy, but not TESO, i bet.

Actually akia had something similar to this. They had temple raids (open 24/7) and national treasury raids (once a week and uber hard). They were a lot of fun, They would rally the whole nation/alliance. Temples had guard and guardian stones (magic automated turrets) at first it was really hard, but people got strong more people joined the game (i was there from the start) and they would tweak the guards levels as needed. I dont see why that couldn't be done here.

Since we know:

1) TESO said:

Quote:How does multiplayer work?
Players can choose to join together in small adventure groups or large communities such as guilds. As part of a group you can work together to solve quests, head into epic battles or fight for the throne of Tamriel.

Multiplayer is an important part of our player versus player (PvP) option as well. The Elder Scrolls Online contains a massive PvP war in Cyrodiil. Three Alliances face off in an epic battle over Tamriel’s throne in the Imperial City. Forge alliances, storm fortresses, and overtake your foes as all of Tamriel joins the battle to become the emperor!

100 % sure as RvR-> We can kill & hunt other faction players inside Cyrodiil zones, and conquer & plunder cities of Cyrodiil.

2) But TESO said none of inside faction locations... Faction locations in PvP? PvE? or just raid/plunder allow?

3) How realm server type? RP-PvP, PvP, PvE, RP etc...

So we must wait until TESO tell us more later... We must...wait and patient...

I understand why people might be upset about faction locking. I was at first.

But its the only way to make this work. If you allowed cross-faction exploration it would:

1) Make PvP decentralized rather than centralized around the Imperial City
2) Make PvE frustrating because every time you tried to complete a quest, enemy players would be harassing you and preventing you from progressing.
3) Demean the sense of faction loyalty by allowing players to play different races with different provinces (like an Argoninain playing primarily in Daggerfall.)

I also think it makes sense with the story. Sure you could travel all over Tamriel during the 3rd and 4th Eras. These time periods were comparatively peaceful. But during the Second Era we are engaged in a bitter war. There is probably a lot of racism, xenophobia, and nationalism going around.

Look, you'll be able to roll alts in another faction. That character will just be tied to a different campaign than your main.

This is for obvious reasons -- both structural and in lore. There is a war going on. They want to focus PvP efforts in Cyrodiil.
