Faction Prevalence and How you'll become Emperor

So these are some news here:
The three factions will be vying for territory by taking fortresses and capturing resources like farms and lumber mills. It's not just wailing on the other guy in a timed match for points; there's a purpose to it.

When enough territory is controlled by one faction, that faction can attempt to seize control of the Ruby Throne in Imperial City. Whichever character contributed the most to this conquest will be made Emperor, and will receive combat and leadership bonuses, presumably which last until a new Emperor rises to take his place.

Mhh, when you say it like that, it sounds pretty much like the endless war of Planetside 2 ;) the front lines waving back and forth with always a seek to conquer ressource bringing station to have advantage in battle.

Except the "become Emperor" part. In PS2 conquering all the map is more a question of honour, rather than being the emperor of that continent for a short time.

But PS2 is a shooter and TESO a MMORPG. I think it will take much time to conquer, and the whole map won´t be lost again in a couple of hours later on.

Exactly Idriar, the lines are going to change continuously and as I see it...we will be playing as units in a big game of strategy which is going to need people to be organized and pretty good in strategies so as to win the battles. I kinda like it!

@Ivixor yea, it will be tons of fun. I can't wait to be part of a large siege against a well defended keep.

@Ivixor , taking resource points like keeps and farms isn't new news.

The piece of information that I found interesting was the dynamic for claiming control of the throne -- area control % triggering "something else". Thanks for that.

@Reichmar12 I had to write about the farms etc, so as to connect it somehow. However, this is how it was written where I read it.
You are welcome for the info, I'm happy I help here!

My main concern is how contribution is measured. If it's just on kills, healers get shafted. If it's objective-based, defenders probably get shafted. This is going to be a tricky banana for them to figure out.

I'm curious to see if the non-combat contributions (like upgrading the guards) will provide some benefit - and what the depth of the options are in the first place.

actually in pvp i am more worried, how can we identify leader or good strategist with so meany people, and will every one follow orders, this stuff really brings me down in MMO pvp. My best bet will be, to get good pvp guild and do pre-made campaigns with guilds, i think pvp wont work as they intended with no "ranks" system, in a place where 200+ players don't follow orders will be chaos. Ummm.... maybe electing "general" figure in pre battle moment would be nice, somthin like you submit your request to be general, people can see "stats"(wins loses and points) of candidates and then chose general for that campaign, others candidates will be 2th in command when general is offline. General and 2th in command will haw chant privileges, like talk to all raid or make raid groups and give them "quests" objectives, like group A captures mill group B goes for farms, etc etc, and if group completes objective they get bonus points as players...
But i dont know if they can make this system.

Actually now that i think about it, if this system gets implemented, determining Emperor is much more easy, since he is accomplished general many people will vote for him. Does not matter if your healer or defender, if you haw your "general" or strategist(this includes 2ht in command) stats to show.

@Ewan I'm sure they have good plans, so as to make an enjoyable PVP experience...I think we don't have to worry about it ;)

It might be chaotic at first but there will be organized guilds that eventually step up and you will start to figure out who you think knows what they are doing and who doesn't. There doesn't need to be a game-mechanic to determine that. I'll listen to those who have proven themselves and ignore those who have not. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you want to be proactive, you could contact other guild leaders that seem to take some initiative and open up communication with them to facilitate better cooperation between your guild and others.

Natural leaders and born strategists tend to emerge from the ranks. I still remember some great guild leaders and famed strategists from Shadowbane. It just becomes self evident and everyone loves a winner and wants to be on that side of things.Tongue_out_laughing
