It has been confirmed that you will be required to have both a first and last name for your character in The Elder Scrolls Online. How do you feel about having to use two names as opposed to the more traditional 1 name style that games tend to have?

This isn't really a topic to post what your name is going to be, but feel free to share it with us if you'd like.

Please use the Help & Feedback section if you need help. This will help others that may have the same questions and you will receive a faster response.

So far:

Character Customization:
First/Last Name: During character creation, the player will have the ability to enter both a first and last name for their character (forming an unique server combination). The naming guidelines: At least 3 letters long, starts with a letter and ends with a letter. No more than 2 of the same letter in a row. One hyphen or apostrophe at most.

Body: Type (triangular slider featuring points of Muscular / Large / Thin)
Body: Skin Color (various selections)
Face: Type (triangular slider featuring points of Heroic / Soft / Angular)
Face: Hair Style (slider featuring approximately 11 selections)
Age: (sliders)
Adornment: (sliders)
Eyes: (various selections)
Brow: (various selections)

I don't like it. Although, were appropriate, my characters would have first and last names anyway, this is really troublesome for Altmer, Bosmer, Redguard, Khajiit and Argonians. Plus, it doesn't get rid of the problem of nick-hogging.

I'd prefer Star Trek Online's solution, which also has an instanced "megaserver", albeit not the functionality and capacity of TESO's. Your account would simply have its own nickname (can, but doesn't have to the account name), and that name would function as a hande that distinctly refers to your character.
For example, I could have the characters Divayth Fyr@Faulgor and Ieneth Hlervu@Faulgor, and somebody else could have Divayth Fyr@LOREMASTER13337, The @name wouldn't show ingame, unless you try to pm someone and several characters with that name exist. Then you are offered a list of all characters with that name including their handle, in my example Divayth Fyr@Faulgor and Divayth Fyr@LOREMASTER13337.

It's not intrusive, and lets an unlimited number of characters have the same name.

I'm happy with this - as long as I can come up with last names which I will both feel to fit the world of Tamriel and my characters. It's just a small, nice way of giving a bit of extra depth to characters as far as I am personally concerned.

I like it, until I get to the part where I can't come up with a good last name. ;-)
I don't particularly like this last name, but it fits my character.

I am sure TESO will care with name policy, and program to set, how they can not make "12123_¤""!¤%/(%" no matter.

It's a good idea, they just picked a singularly bad lore environment to implement it on... we know a single dash and a single hyphen are allowed as well, perhaps for example instead of calling myself Sulsharnabittipath I can be Sul-sharnabittipath? that's not too bad, though Sul -Sharnabittipath would be quite wonky.

Ah thank you, gotta make a note to suggest haveing option to filter players you dont wish to play with, based on strings in their names. I would certainly like to filter out all characters with "nub, noob, pwn, own..." all this sort of stuff

I admit I did think about it, as my naming policy is usually based on Rage and its generally nickname my friends use. I doesnt fit ES tho, so I suppose I would have to go with some sort of family name like Rageborn to share among my characters and pretend my elven characters were adopted. Causes me a headache

Hmm, sarcasm off Confy. If an Altmer baby was adopted and raised in Windhelm since childhood. Thats exacty what would happen. He would be raised among nord children and would have to fight twice as hard due to him being different. Such child would have muscles and attitude Altmer wouldnt ever belive. Interesting

I really only half-joking, as with the body sliders in char. creation, and the freedom of weapons and armor, you could actually totally do that.
