No idea where to post this, but the latest change in forum format made it so I can not tell anymore what the latest threads are, or the newest reply.
I think this function got displaced to the name of a thread being highlighted but it is a poor substitution for actually seeing what is going on.

I have no idea anymore who made what or replied to what.

I'm not quite sure I really understand your problem, but I think you are missing the "latest threads" block, yes?

While "Today's Posts" takes you to a search result list sorted by post and date/time and shows the latest , it doesn't really show newly created threads. Maybe "New Posts" is meant to do that, as it only comes up with this thread here. (but misses the newly created guild threads).

The rest of the forums work as they always did here on my end.

Yes, that is what I miss :)

"todays posts' takes me to a page of threads that I cant gleam the relevance of.
I can not find the latest posts made by people.
There might be a topic I am interested in, now I have to click on that topic and scroll down to see if there is a reply.

It is possible I am missing something.

But I think it was much more user friendly the way it was, as I could tell who posted what on what thread when.

Whenever you click "Today's Posts," the last poster is shown on the right-hand side of the screen, along with their avatar. On the left, it is who started it, along with the starters avatar. Where it says "Last post:" - you can click on that to view the very last post in the topic.

You may notice that each topic that has new posts that you have not read yet will be bold and have a small, yellow arrow next to it. If you click on the arrow, it will take you directly to the first post that you have not read yet.

The reason I replaced the previous feature is for server load reasons for the future. I'm implementing as many things to save on queries and site load time before these things become a problem in the future.

Let me know if you need additional help.

EDIT: Oh and in the end, this replacement will turn out to be a lot more helpful whenever we have hundreds of new posts and dozens of topics made while an individual is away. The previous one only showed the latest 5 posts/topics - this will be able to display as many as needed.

Oh ok I understand.
Just dont expect me to reply to posts anymore unless Im directed to them.
I see no way of discerning what is a new post on a thread unless it is in bold and that could mean anything.
Im not going to click on threads 300 times to see the same message, Id rather not click on anything at all.

That sounds really whiny.
But the old system did things that this one does not. Or, at least, not that I can find.

You don't have to click threads multiple times. If there's a new post in a thread it'll be on top of the forum and it's name in bold. By clicking on the small arrow at the beginning of the thread title you will jump directly to the last unread post and do not have to scroll up from the end of the thread to search it yourself.

This should be the same in the forums, the daily and new posts. The new posts should only show threads with actual new postings, while the daily shows the last 24h (I think), already read posts included. But any new content should be in bold.

To me, that's actually a better way to see what's new, as I can see more than just 5 threads/posts and don't have to visit each forum.

New Posts seems to only show new postings within the last hour. This could be extended a bit, I think. But all in all you should be able to navigate easily to new and unread postings.
