Forum Ranks?

Many forums use "forum ranks" among the members as a fun thing. For example, I'm currently a "curate" in Bethesda's forums. Perhaps we should have something similar here just for fun?

Thoughts?

I'm not against this. If we can come up with a bunch of TES-related ranks, I could make it happen.

Not sure how hard it would be to tie into the +Likes system, but if that proves too difficult, we could always fall back on the good ol' post count system.

I think it's a great idea!

Perhaps we could have 3 parallel sets of ranks which are linked to the factions. The EP would our own flavor, and you kitties and othermer in AD could have yours.

Tecca, of course, will ensure DC gets prestigious enough ranks.

I'm guessing that I am the only one who doesn't like the idea of forum ranks. Sure it can be cool and all but it also creates something close to a caste system in my opinion. What I found so great about this forum is that everyone is a member (I know I know, writers and contributers) but still we're all just equals, which I find great. So yeaah... That's my two cents.

I would be ok with named "Levels", I say leave post count out of it. I get what Baldur is saying. I've seen people reference this when arguing in other forums a la "omg shut up noob....how can you have a opinion". But, if we have a good community this kind of stuff won't happen anyway.

I think this sounds neat, but I think I get and agree with Baldar and Van Hoffen.

I hope such a system is based off of likes, contributions, or something else besides post count.

Something I always see in forums with post counts is at least a couple people spamming the forums with junk, seemingly to increase their post count. And then of course petty squabbles always reduce to criticizing ones post count, which I think also makes a forum less inviting for new members.

That said, I think TESOF is an amazing community, and I attribute (at least in part anyway) it's amazingness, and high quality of user posts, to the lack of a post count. :)

I agree. I suppose the current system is fine, you could look at it as every +1 being an extra inch on your meat. I see your meatstick is longer than mine. Devil

I don't care of forum ranks. Just do a normal way with the nice and active forum, and knowledge discuss is my side.

That's a good point.
