Dear TESOFians,

Is there any lore on the Goblin out there?

Does anyone know of the goblin lore? Anyone willing to make educated guesses or assumptions on where they came from? Anything you like to inform others on the goblin culture? The different tribes? Etc.

Let me know down below!

Judging from Oblivion they had, at least gotten to tribal stage culture with the women being shamans and healers while the males tended to be warriors or hunters.

Oh boy. Goblins are a tough one. I had debated this with Terminus before i think regarding the Old Redguard lore and about the "Goblin Portal"

Generaly there is not that much about them realy.

Oblivion promised alot about them and then didnt deliver so i guess you can blame oblivion on it realy.
Tribunal didnt realy say much about them either so id say the best sources come from Daggerfall of all places, stating that Goblins did live with the Orcs in Orsinum for a while. Tho its doubtfull how true this actually is.

Goblins were also part of the "beastmen" the Redguards fought upon arriving in Hammerfell.

There is some realy good apocrypha about them tho..

I don't think there is a great deal of lore concerning these creatures, and they have evolved through the course of TES games, in arena they were depicted as little more than animals, but later in Morrowind and oblivion they are a primitive late stone age type culture, tribal in nature.

"Goblins, filthy creatures, the high elves of the summerset isles train them, I find it hard to imagine" Is a common enough comment from npc's in oblivion, and in the Morrowind expansion an npc (helseth I think) was importing goblin foot soldiers and altmer trainers from the summerset isles.

They are a beast race ( which in itself tells us nothing as the beast races are not really related to each other or even connected) and they are NOT related to orcs, despite popular misconceptions.

If I were to make a guess at the origins of goblins, I would say they were likely the devolved descendants of Ehlnofey progenitors who could have been a race indigenous to one of the worlds destroyed by Padomey, ending up on nirn like so much else of the cosmic detritus.

That's about all I got. Oh and oblivion had a feature called goblin wars that involved traipsing about with a tribes totem pole and them all following you. You could take one tribes totem to another tribes home cave and "Goblin wars" ensued.

Edit- Sordak man your fast, you fired that post of whilst I was pondering. I need to up my game to compete with you obviously :)

All I know is that @Archmage Alator is seemingly hellbent on freeing them from the clutches of the High Elves.

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

In TES 1 Arena there was a Goblin king holding Stone Keep in Hammerfell. As far as I remember he was a necromancer. But anything further I donĀ“t know.

They have enslaved them and make them do all the Dirty work for them, they use them in battles so that their losses will be smaller. Yet they treat them like crap. That is very unjust especially since the Goblins are far more intelligent than animals. Maybe not exactly as intelligent most of the humanoid and human races but they are still pretty intelligent ((compared to animals anyway....)).

That is why I want them freed, if the High Elves want work done, they can bloody well move their own asses and fix it themselves instead of enslaving people to do it for them.

Note: I am completely against all slavery, it is not only the enslaving of Goblins that I want to stop.

@Archmage-Alator stop bringing your human feeligns into this. I have said this before and i can only say it again. Stop trying to make everyone human, stop trying to make everything be "ideal" there is no utopia because thats boring.
The Altmer are not nice and the Goblins will remain their slaves.

There realy is no point in you stating how much you abhor slavery. If this was a real world issue fine.

But you know what? In TES i love slavery. Its perfect tension for the Story.
Its a backdrop for stuff to happen and it perfeclty reasonates with the Altmer mindset.

Why would you *not* want slavery in TES? Its such a wonderfull topic to get excited over!

I am still against it because that I am largely a human... I am no elf.

you are a human in the real world and you are nothing in Tamriel.

You can stand against slavery in the real world but whats the point.
Thats the real world.

We all love to hate. Would you realy want a fictional world youd want to live in?
You realy want to play a game in a world in which everyone is free, happy and not waging war?

wouldnt that be boring? Id find that boring...

You are not getting this are you? And as an RP'er my Character hates slavery, though I find it interessting to have. I like the tes-World as it is. But my Character is against slavery in tes and I'm an RP'er, deal with it.

@Archmage Alators character is against all forms of slavery. This makes his character interesting in turn. THere aren't a whole lot of "people" in Tamriel who are against Goblin slavery.

So, yeah.
