Group vs Group RvR in TESO ?

Hi all,

I have played the MMO Dark Age of Camelot and I really liked the RvR system the game had. Now ESO will feature a similar system, where you can raid keeps and gain alliance points for participating in the realm war.

In DAoC people also made groups and just roamed the frontiers in search of foes in order to kill them. They didn’t necessarily participate in keep raiding or so but simply roamed the pvp zone and try to find enemies to kill. Groups like this, with communication and skill could easily defeat 2-3 full groups of “randoms” and it was a lot of fun to, for example, surprise a large army that was about ro raid a keep and ambush them with a small group of people and kill them all with aoe effects and stuff.

Do you think this kind of RvR gameplay will also be possible in TESO ? Do you think players will be given the tools to be able to defeat larger groups of enemies if you play well enough?

I hope so, after all we should be rewarded for good tactics, not having larger numbers and zerg tactics.

That sounds reasonable to me, but I don't know for sure. I played DAoC pretty much just partnering with my hubby, sometimes with other friends to form small parties.

I did however really enjoy the seiges of Shadowbane, so was raiding Keeps in DAoC similar to Shadowbane where the map was constantly changing on who had dominion over what areas, according to what seiges they had just won?

I am hoping that TESO is like that and that also like you are saying, that more informal groups can wander about and kill, also that solo PVP will be occuring in Cyrodiil between warring faction members and that there will be both faction and solo quests within Cyrodiil.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar

Cyrodiil will be a pretty large zone. I forsee no shortages of opportunities for roaming groups.

Firor is making this, don't forget that. :-)

1) The three faction system is designed to naturally balance and lend political intrigue to the persistent PvP endgame. If any one faction becomes too powerful, the other two factions naturally tend to work together to turn the tide of battle.

2) Guilds can collectively select a Cyrodiil campaign, and players will be able to switch campaigns, however this will impose some meaningful alliance point cost. However, you are prohibited from having characters from different factions in the same campaign.

3) Guilds can claim control of any objective in Cyrodiil from keeps to small outposts. Control of an objective allows the guild to further upgrade its defenses, and customize the placement and role of NPC guards which defend it. Guild members recieve immediate notification if their objective comes under assault from enemy forces.

4) Alliance points accumulate through killing enemies and taking objectives in Cyrodiil. This constitutes an alternate advancement system through which the player can earn Alliance Ranks. There are 23 ranks planned for launch, although this number is subject to change.

thanks xoo, but that was not the point of the thread. read the OP.

im fairly sure this type of gameplay is alive and well, in fact it is openly encouraged through having small objectives like farms.

The devs have also stated that there are different sized targets in Cyrodiil, so that even relatively small groups can play a role in the RvR, and I would expect that these different sized groups would run into each other regularly.

True...

Quote:Stealth functions similaly in PvP to past games. A stealthed character is invisible to enemies unless they are detected, at which point they are a shaded outline. Stealthed players are fully uncovered when they take damage or attack an enemy. Since every class in TESO has some basic stealth ability, this creates very interesting possibilities for coordinated ambushes and surprise attacks.
