Thanks for the guide !

The guild I am with does not RP, but I am wanting to at least have a Bio/Idea so when I encounter a RPer in game I can assist in the immersion and not be one of the non-RP disrupting game spoiling players ;)
Just a added note, could you add what a Marry-sue is as I had to look it up and some new joiners may not know either.

Great guide! I'm really looking forward to roleplaying in TESO.

I also really want to play a real role with my characters, not just executing the game, it so much more creative way to play. I also wish that in TESO community will be more this kind of playing too.

Those hints are very good, I also say that good way thinking is that stick to the role, try to understand how the character would think and do, even someone would shout at you "off roleplay" try to keep your role up. Although this can be difficult if the general gamers aren't roleplayers and if you play more "special" role it can be stressful to keep it up.

Good example for this was when I was testing "Runescape" MMO where I tried to play really out-of-the-box-thinking character, a female warrior who wanted to save goblins from slaughtering (which were one of the first and easiest mobs to farm) and tried make a "protest" against goblins slaugtering, but absolutely no one did realise I was playing role and mostly just shouted at me. For couple hours I tried that if someone would come join the "protest" but then my interest slowly dropped because no one was playing along.
This is a good example when community generally is not roleplayers and won't see if something creative thinking is put on some characters.

So this is why I really hope in TESO this could be a less problem and more creative plays could be played.

Well yes I'm not saying that everyone should create silly things like that I did in that example, but if someone would do something like that, it wouldn't be discriminated but seen as a cool and creative way of playing the game.

@Harlwystyr a nice guide, but their should be more out of context guidelines.

Such as trying to include in your post what others did; a reaction of sorts. When people roleplay, its invigorating and flattering to sometimes mention what others did. RP is nice when its a two way road, it feels more storylike rather than people posting solely one sided.

Fair enough. From what I've seen most people here are pretty learned anyways, probably from your guide.

Plenty of great points in this thread to help guide both beginning RPers and the experienced RPers. Everyone can improve themselves in one way or the other, even if they feel they're at an advanced level.

I mean, ultimately everyone will do what they want; but it doesn't hurt to offer some tips that would allow them to get along with others.

I agree with you Seamus on that point about reactions and acknowledgement. Sometimes if there isn't enough of it, it feels like there isn't much interaction between players and they end up going in totally different directions. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is if you're trying to RP with one another. (Might be something I have to work on!)

Ninjas are actually in ESO more or less, hate to break it to you.

The Nightblade Class (and assassin NPCs) have the ability to leap over your head and land behind you. There is also dodge rolling and rolling when you fall. Combine that with black suits and daggers... well you can see how they might look like Ninjas.

EDIT:

I'm not in Beta and I'm not breaking any NDA here. This info is from someone who played at PAX.

How is that a bad thing :P
They're assassins, some people just associate them with ninjas because of the fighting style.
The main difference is that assassins tend to attack from stealth more then ninjas, though I could see the actual fight style be somewhat similar.

False. Ninjas are 110% about stealth. You are making an odd distinction between assassin and ninja. Ninjas are a type of Japanese assassin.

The reason I pointed out that there are basically Ninjas is because the OP said "NO NINJAS!! There are no ninjas in TES!!" Because in TESO, there basically are ninjas.

It is sad a lot of the rules and guidelines should have been scripture a long time ago here. I have to hand it to some of you though... people have to start somewhere, and since this is a new site there is many new people.

Ninja's are in essence assassins but quite different than what you would find in the ES universe they originated as farmer and made their weapons from whatever they could find as a common misunderstanding Ninja's wore commoner clothing which allowed them to pass for the servants of a target. Also Harlwstyr was making an opinion that ninja do not exactly fit into ES lore.
