Heirlooms?

Honestly, something that ruined low level PvP for me in WoW is the fact that everyone else had heirlooms, I never got a level 90 (I kept getting bored and creating new characters when mine sucked at PvP). Something that would be game breaking for me would be if they implemented heirlooms into the game.

What do you think?

For those of you who don't know what a heirloom is:

-A heirloom is a piece of gear that one of your characters can earn and all your characters can use.
-Heirlooms powers and stats scale with your level and can be worn at any level.
-Heirlooms are always more powerful than most other gear available at your level.

As someone who has never played an MMO before to me the heirloom idea doesn't sound like a bad one, the only question I have would be how does the one char earn it? by completing quests or looting or what?

Oh god no, I hate heirlooms. Gear that scales removes the need of getting new armour. Anyway ZOS has announced that they wont be implemented.

If they add heirlooms they are essentially, diluting the PvP and PvE by ALOT as it essentially destroys the concept of killing enemies and looting them for gear.

It doesn't work for the system in place. The idea behind heirlooms is good for the type of MMOs that have come and gone, but it won't work for ESO. Essentially you get one char to max level then buy a piece of gear on that char which you would send to a new char. This piece of gear will help speed up levelling. In ESO, levelling is a part of the process. Yes, endgame is very important but levelling and experiencing this world is important as well. Endgame will make or break this game, but don't forget how important the levelling process is. It shapes a character, helps players build skill so that when they get to endgame, they are equipped for playing when the game 'really starts.'

To add any such item, which would take away from the experience and make levelling just another grinder that people have to 'get through' in order to access the real fun stuff, would be a complete disregard for what makes this game so awesome, and that is the Elder Scrolls in its name. You haft be able to live in the world and feel a part of it. Not power grind through it.

This is one of those things that makes me worry about the account-wide bank. :( That you'll have a level 50 char and you'll just take all of that max gear out of the bank and power level...

I wouldn't worry about that. Most of the time, higher rated gear has a minimum level requirement, so a level 1 wearing max stat gear simply won't happen. Heirlooms still aren't a huge problem imo, because it's usually just a few pieces of gear, but I would still rather they not implement an heirloom system.

I also have mixed emotions about sharing an account wide stash. It would put a MASSIVE inflation on gold, and make it too easy if you play more than one character

I just think that if everyone made smerfs and 60% of the level ones had like 600 gold and the other 40% had 600,000 gold then there could be a problem.

I would not have a problem with it if it were very limited. Perhaps only jewelry? Overall though, I can see where this would make crafting/looting much less needed/interesting if you could get weapons/armor that were heirlooms. In the end, I guess I am against it as I think the drawbacks are simply to many.

The fires burn. Our supplies are spent. Axes are dull, and armor is rent. The enemy approaches, our doom, they seek. We are Daggerfall Covenant. We are Orcs. Our comrades, they come, for glory they seek, at the side of our iron and steel. We will not fall.

exactly my point. Item sharing is one thing, but whatever currency is being utilized should be separate between characters
