Well since we all know there will not be player housing on launch of the game I just thought we could discuss what you'd like to see in Player housing and Guild halls as such if they were to introduce such wonderful things

I particularly would like to see specific areas for housing and guild halls even if they are to be just a part of 1 factions race ie, in Hammerfell, Solitude and where ever those people have a special capital or even if they just allow us to have it in Cyrodiil where guilds can also raid each other in underground war or something, what are your thoughts?

If it were set in physical areas, the entire game would be cramped and filled within the first few weeks of the feature being implemented. I, for one, would also love to see non-PvP guild halls, but I firmly believe they'll have to be instanced cells, where you enter some sort of dungeon / instance in a capital city (Let's for example say Daggerfall, or Mournhold), and you're then delivered into a coded cell, where everyone in your guild / party can see each other, but no one else in the game world. I believe player housing will work the same way.

True physical guilds will overwhelm the servers but what I mean is that in some way having interaction with the world on a PvE level such that can bring out more fun in owning a guild and being part of a guild, so like certain NPC will interact with buildings, even if its like a large building to be for guilds, and once you enter the building you can access a door with your guilds Banner on and go in

Well if your guild captures a fort in Cyrodiil I believe you can hang your banners on it. And claim it as your own.

That's just incentive to defend it. Once a guild claims a keep they are always able to lose it again. I've already heard some guilds are planning sentry duties (these being the hardest of hard core). Players log in and just hang around the guild keep hoping no one attacks and if they do call everyone back.

Course with the way this is set up, everyone will already know when a keep is being attacked. So the guild will just hafta run back quick. It adds another layer to it, helps to instill pride in your guild.

One thing I actually do like about guilds taking keeps.
It has a serious negative effect on the elitist 'I am better than you' guilds.

Think about a top tier guild, who are jerks to everybody not apart of them, then their keep is attacked by an overwhelming force.
Who on their alliance will want to help them?
It makes bonding with your whole alliance worthwhile.

I certainly hope some form of "home" property is added in TESO at some point! I think the game can really benefit from it. From a player perspective, it's just awesome to have. But from a business perspective, it's another form of progression and customization for players to invest themselves in and thus continue playing the game and paying the subscription fee. It's like how people like playing The Sims and Farmville. And I do think some sort of phase/instance is the best way for this to be added.

In any case, to add to the original subject: I certainly feel like there should be a few themes to choose from so not every home is the same; at least one for each of the nine races although likely restricted to your respective faction. So a dunmer home wouldn't have the same feel as an orc home or an altmer home and so on. It would be great to enter a building and really feel like this is a culturally unique home belonging to a certain race, rather than just a generic wood and stone house.

I feel like "trophy displays" would be a good thing to include as well! This is often requested because it's cool to represent accomplishments that isn't just a few lines of text in an achievement system. So if you've killed a Daedric Titan boss or something, you could have its claw hanging on a mantle over your a fireplace.

Well you could go forward with that. The capitol cities in each faction would obviously have representation of each race dwelling within. So it stands to reason these cities would have districts for each race. And obviously player housing would be an instanced affair, because instanced housing would be the easiest way to implement it (and you could possibly have 'guests' in your house by grouping up with them). So rather than have everyone go to the same place to enter housing could not we have 3 separate entrances?

For example, in Daggerfall, let's say there's a major square in the middle of town which is centralized to any amenity needed (think Stormwind's Trade District). To get to your player house, you go to your respective race's district in the city. There will be an entrance to an instance there for players of your race to get to their houses. The other two races would be able to get to their houses by going to their districts. Of course you can decorate your house as you wish, but maybe by default it is adorned in your own racial style. A trophy system could be incorporated like you said, even tied into the achievement system (every achievement you get awards a trophy in a special trophy room in your house, and maybe each successful boss encounter in an Adventure Zone).

Have any of you ever played Runescape with a paid membership? The player homes in that game were what I want in an mmo.

I've played runescape since 2006 and was a member. The housing in runescape is what I imagine and hope it will be in TESO

If ZOS is going to implement housing, and they probably will at some point as players crave for it, Im quite sure they would do it properly.

Most likely in Skyrim:Heartfire fashion, which is pretty much what is being done in Wildstar. Elaborate and highly customizable. Having house to show off just doesnt cut it nowdays and especially not in ESO. I wouldnt be surprised to see armory, the most desired ES housing element along with crafting stations, which were always part of housing in ES as well

On the topic of Housing I made this post on another ESO forums and I would be interested to see what you guys think. So here is just a copy of what I posted there:
Hi everyone,

As everyone knows, neither player housing nor guild housing will be in ESO at launch, which in my opinion is pretty sad despite all the other awesome features they plan to include in ESO. I would in particular like to see guild housing because, if it was done right, it would be great for guild communities, building up friendships which is of course what keeps people playing an MMO long after the content has slowed down.

Guild housing is of course not an original concept but I have several ideas to go along with it (that I have wanted to share for a while) which I think will make the system fun for all guild members:

1) Each guild has to buy their own guild home (which are all instanced somewhere). Each guild home can be upgraded to become larger and more … fun.
2) To buy and upgrade your guild home guild members must donate gold (or whatever currency ESO uses) through their guild store. Once enough donated gold builds up the guild leader can choose how it is spent on the guild base.
3) (Here is my favourite part) Here are some sections of the guild home that my guildmates and I thought up that could be added or upgraded:

~

Guild library- perfect for RPers and book hoarders (I know books in ESO are stored in a player database and not placed in their inventory but it would be incredible to be able to collect books for your guild).

Guild Altar/church- another great place for RPers, my guild is devoted to worshipping Stendarr and an altar to worship His benevolence in would be divine (get it!?). The guild church/altar could be dedicated to a wide range of Gods from Redguard belief, Khajiit belief, the Eight Divines and even Daedric Princes! :’D

Guild Kitchen- putting a few workshy guild members on kitchen duty would be great fun, sweetrolls for everyone!

Guild Armoury and smithy- guild members create armour and weapons to share amongst their guildies and store them in the armoury for guild members to take… community :’)

Guild garden?- why not? a nice place to stroll around and time waste, perhaps a fishing spot, a fountain, flower patches, a statue of your guilds deity? Stendarr’s Mercy :D

Guild training arena- a lot of players want to be able to duel one another, this would be perfect! I am sure a lot of players would prefer to be able to duel anybody, anytime, anywhere but in my opinion this would be far better! Guilds could organise competitions themselves :’)

Then just your basics such as a guild Mess Hall, a few beds and chests, maybe a wine cellar?

I am a big fan of PvP and I will probably be spending the majority of my time in Cyrodiil but as an RPer and guild lover a system like this would have me working in my guild home for 70% of the time. Not only does the system make guilds more competitive (who wouldn’t want to brag about their guilds castle?!) but it would also develop guild community giving something else for guild members to do together. I am not sure how feasible it is to incorporate a system it is and how much development time it would arguably “waste”…

But, I guess what I am trying to say is:

Put in guild housing.

Only joking, but I would be interested in seeing what my fellow ESO fans think:

Would you like to see guild housing at some stage? What sort of things would you like to see in a guild housing system? Do you want to cry as hard as you can at Zenimax with me to get guild housing in the game? (I guess it will only be me haha xP ).

I like many of those ideas JustBarbaric. I can definitely get behind a training area. I really hope that house building is more akin to Runescape than Hearthfire though. With Runescape it just seemed extremely in-depth and customizable.
