New update today has major changes

Today's patch 1.1.2 has a longer list than any other patch since before Beta v0.181 - by a lot. It looks to have at least twice as much (detail) than any patch since. Of course, the banner change is the addition of the anticipated Craiglorn "adventure zone" (for 12-player groups). "You can earn up to Veteran Rank 12 as you continue your adventures in Craglorn." Also, they added "trials," also exclusively for 12-player groups; and includes "trial of the week" and other frills.

But I really am looking forward to the "death recap" feature, in which you can look at some stats that contributed to your death (details are not known yet).

New rules on "chests within instances" (dungeons) for groups only:
Quote:Chests within instances have undergone two changes:

Shared Chests – Each player in the group whose character is within 50 meters of the chest when it is unlocked will get an individual roll on the chest.

Reduced Number of Chests – Since each chest yields rewards for all group members, we have reduced the number of chests in instances to two total. Each instance will always have two chests in then, but the location of these two chests will be random within the dungeon.

These changes do not affect chests that appear in public spaces, only those within instances.

Quote:All chat messages are now limited to 350 characters.
I assume that means when that bastard from goldah spams the zone chat we will see his name (if we change to social font 12 or so), so ppl can R-click it and report him.

There are many reworks to various ability attributes - too many for me to discuss here. One thing urgently important to note:
Quote:Those who have spent Skill Points in the [ability here] will have those points returned to their overall skill point pool. You may place those Skill Points back in this ability if you wish, or invest them elsewhere.
This applied on several ability skill lines as they changed the stats for those skill lines. You may want to check your skill page for unused skill points to see if it affected you.

And of course there are lots of bug fixes, including these of particular note:

Item set (armor, jewelry, sheild, and/or weapon) bug fixes.

Quote:Reduced the cost of all armor repairs.

You are now immune to immobilizing effects during the time you are roll dodging, in addition to breaking out of existing effects when you begin the roll dodge.

Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented abilities on your skill bar from being used after attacking a critter.

The rate at which you can earn racial motifs and provisioning recipes from lootable containers and furniture has been slightly reduced.

Improved the overall support for machines with Nvidia SLI graphics cards.

Fixed an issue where you could sometimes become dismounted from your horse by sprinting.

Light Armor
Annulment: This Ultimate ability’s damage shield now absorbs 100% of incoming Spell Damage rather than 50%. This damage shield value remains the same.

Extraction passive tooltips have been re-worded to better explain the benefits of upgrading the skills. Affects Blacksmith, Clothier, and Woodworker.

Enchanting
Added additional runestone harvest nodes to all zones in the game.
We have reduced the variety of available essence runes in lower-level zones in order to improve chances of making a usable glyphs.

i.e. I think they removed the chance of getting essence runes (trapezoid, green, yellow fire shrines) for jewelry in the "tutorial" zones, such as Khenarthi's Roost, Bleakrock Isle, Stros M'kai, and Betnikh.

Quote:We have adjusted Essence runestones so the rate at which they appear is in the world is more in line with other types of runestones.
Slightly reduced the chance to receive a negative potency runestone while harvesting.
This should allow you to make a little bit more armor enchants - if you can find enough Makko, Odo, and Deni essence runes.

Quote:Fixed an issue where potency runestone [square, blue, blue fire shrines] harvest nodes would sometimes give the incorrect level runestone.
Fixed an issue where enchantments that increase potion effectiveness were not correctly stacking.
The value of the potion effectiveness enchants has been doubled.
Fixed issues where potion effectiveness enchants were incorrectly increasing the effect of non-restoration potions.

The number of usable cooking fires has been dramatically increased across all of Tamriel. No longer will you go hungry when traveling far from home.

Wow, this one hits me hard, as I just made 3 more characters to get all hireling items except provisioning:
Quote:Crafting hireling mails no longer contain a loot box. Instead, they contain the random assortment of items which the box would have contained when you opened it. The items you receive in the mail are determined by the character for which the mail was intended.

As a result of this change, the issue where hireling containers were sometimes empty has also been fixed.

Before, the quality of the item(s) delivered depended on the character level whom opened it! I simply took the mail attachment with the char of the level I want the item(s) to be. Now, I may be getting a flood of Lv1 items to my Lv25 Templar - BOOO. I was hoping for a treasure-trove of high-level enchanting runes to make enchanting an entire new set of armor every 2 levels doable. Now it seems I will have to also advance my other characters to near the same level to accomplish this feat. That would take >a year for 8 characters!

One last note:

Quote:Updated the icons for public and instanced dungeons to better delineate public dungeons from delves:

The icon for delves is a torch.
The icon for a public dungeon is a torch with a plus sign (+).
The icon for an instanced 4-man dungeon are crossed torches.

Thanx for clearing up those icons, and what we should be doing there, ZOS. For those who don't know: A "delve" is a dungeon that works just like everything did on the surface, outside. You can bring in groups, but there is no need to, and you should see other players there too; there is no "instancing." A "public dungeon" is one that is intended for groups, but you can go in solo, and either way I think they are not instanced, there is no reason not to see other players in there. But a "group" (4-man) dungeon is specifically designed to need a 3-4 player group and should slam anybody going in solo (after the warning on attempted entry). I think some of these categories have "achievements" associated with them.

Update 5/22 1:45p.m. EDT: The NA server is still down for maintenance.

Update 4p: Huge multi-GB(?) patch downloading currently! - I'm estimating about 3GB, 5:40p EDT.

It says applying 23GB patch, @17% done! But I know the download couldn't have been that big, must be 23GB after decompression; our FAP is only 17GB/mo. Now I am worried about going over limit, and we can't buy more GB.

My wife is having repeated crashes since the patch. She is working closely W/support to determine the cause(s) of the problem. Odd, since she has the same vid card as I do, and the same driver ver, and I haven't had crashes. She has Bloomfield (i7-960) and I have SB-E (i7-3930K), same amt RAM; very similar platforms exc I have newer generation.

And, we both have lost our achievements for Auridon & Grahtwood quests, they now say 0/3x!

Also I have been having LOTS of error 318's ("A message rate limit was hit") during or shortly after using bash/interrupt during combat, mostly W/my new DragonKnight char - he uses bash and my other chars don't. It has also happened to her a few times. This has nothing to do with the last patch. She complained to tech support and they said something like 'odd, that is only for chat spamming.' And they are quite interested in what is happening there, since it happens to us when we are not doing anything in the chat window. Prob there is a bug in the comms interface, that only manifests itself when the Internet lag is just so, like our satellite Internet connection. I hypothesis that if they do find a bug as a result of this investigation, it may improve game performance for others as well (hopefully). Just before the 318, combat and E-prompts quit, I just keep getting wailed on by the monster and can't fight back although I can still move around. FYI.

The memory leak hit me bad but my mother board is currently dying so I am not entirely sure how much is hardware failure and how much of it is TESO's programming mistake. I guess I will have to wait until Tuesday when the new computer arrives. I might get a few days to play and test the new patch before I have to go on a week long hiatus. I don't know if I lost achievements but I did have a character lose quest progress in one of their infamous zone resets after the patch released (about 20 minutes of game play lost so not terrible).
