I had an idea to allow people to display their guild on their character. What if guild members have access to a cape with the guild logo and/or name on it? You would then be easily able to see affiliated/unaffiliated people even during pvp. You would also be able to recognize certain logos and friend or enemies with just a glance.

The guild masters/council should have many options for their cape design:
1. include guild logo and/or name
2. choose background color
3. choose material texture
4. add fringe or frills and change shape as guild earns clout.

Just my ideas, let me know what you think.

Sounds like standard guild colors creation to me. No names though, waste of resources. Just allowing players to pick graphics/icons and cape design is enough.

For the record, I'm pretty sure we'll see something like this in game.

Emblems on cloaks and shields is one of my favourite things to have in game. It generates a great amount of guild pride. DAoC was one of the first games I played that offered this idea you could stitch your emblem into the cloak and get it on your shield

Rift now has this in their game was introduced in their newest expansion and World of Warcraft is talking about allowing Emblems on cloaks.

Surprised not many games have this. it is a huge feature.

Check out this video, go to 2 hours 18mins in and it talks about Guild Emblems and Cloaks etc.

The only thing I would want is to be able to choose if you want to wear the emblem on your shield, but otherwise - yes yes yes!!!

Some sort of crafting choice to put an emblem on armor shield wherever you want it, improves the guild members pride, you can still use your favourite armor and are not stuck with guild armor, and a big character customization plus :)

I am all about customizations - I need them. :)

The only thing with guild capes is that capes are probably also going to be drops from mobs. That means not everyone is going to have the same fabric or shape of cloak. In DAoC, there were really only two cape designs, hooded and unhooded, and both of those could have a border or no border.

Because there wasn't much variation, painting each with guild colours was pretty easy, from a graphics perspective. In TESO, cape/cloak design is probably going to vary a great deal more. It will be interesting to see if, and how they go about it.

well i am hoping that all cosmetic will haw different equip then real gear, and you are not limited to same type of cape, i hope as long as it haw guild crest cape should match the taste of the wearer. And why only cape and shield? i want to see guild crest on armor or ban-deg at my arm or leg, maybe scarf would be great too. I dont want them to limit my customization choice, i want to haw as much freedom as possible in "decorating" my character, like hood that pops up out of combat while still hawing my helmet equipped, or extra knifes or pockets at my belt chest arm's or legs... most of these stuff was done in Skyrim modes, that is why i know how great it is to haw lots of options in customizing your character. Oh what about mages that wear robes and haw there cape hidden, will they wont haw guild crest : ), that is why the best option is to let us decide where we want to haw our guild crest, and not limit it to back.

I wouldn't mind having guild emblems on capes, tabards or even on armor pieces such as shields. But I think we are more likely to have battle standards with these emblems. I think it'll be mostly a PvP thing.

although not an mmo I enjoyed having my own crest on my shield in 'Mound and blades; warband' perhaps doing it so that the guild crest chosen/made could be chosen(on/off option> to automaticaly appear on your shield and armor depending on the item like it being more logical to appear on wooden shields than those purely metal, since it would seem painted on on metal shields

In Guild Wars we have many varieties of cape shapes, background choices, emblems and colors. Of course Guild capes are very important identifiers in GW and I belong to one of the oldest guilds in the game. The cape has changed twice, the guild hall 3 times but the guild goes on with basically the same players plus new additions. It is true that guild capes do instill guild pride and camaraderie between members.

I enjoyed Garbrac's shameless promotional video very much - I intend to watch the entirety of it, not just the discussion of guild capes/shields. Thanks Garbrac! Who is that person you're talking to? I mean what is his function at ZeniMax? I only watched the guild pride part so far.

I recently joined a guild in EQ2 and get to use all the crafting stations and get crafting resources from the guild gatherers; but I am having a hard time finding out particuar information from anyone about things like a linking guild door from my house, getting guild permission to buy certain objects, how to join raids, etc.

So knowing this I will add that I hope the guilds in TESO have very explicit commmunication between members especially new ones and posted guild rules, regulations, perks and duties. Not just about how to don you guild cape emblem but good communication about all guild matters.

TESO - - Multiplayer: "M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." M'aiq the Liar.

"Va Khaj Dar - Khajiity's united? M'aiq will join!" M'aiq the Liar

Guild capes were key in WAR too. Bannermen also carried guild banners into battle, and keeps we captured were adorned in our colors. I hope ZoS does the same thing here.

They did away with the guild capes in GW2 and instead had it so you could put your guild emblem on armor and weapons. While I like both, I do miss those capes.

It would be nice if ESO would allow us to put our guild emblem on a variety of items instead of just one thing.
