Joining Multiple Guilds? Are You SERIOUS!?

Ive read it in two places now that users will be able to join multiple guilds.

As a guild leader of over 190 people in SWTOR, one of my rules was if you make another character on our enemies side, your out of the guild.

This would completely ruin the game for me, and create lots of problems especially at raid times when you need someone and they have to pick sides who what guild they want to help.

So this means there is no guid chat or guild names under player names?

How are you going to know if someone is in a guild or not or what guild they are in? You cant show all the guilds they are members of that would be retarded.

Hopefully im just reading this wrong because to me this is the dumbest thing i have ever heard of.

considering this game has only one big server.
handling it like you did would be the dumbest way of handling it.

are you seriously telling me you want to lock out your guildmates out of 2/3 of the content because you think it seems fit?
how did you even get to lead 190 people....

I got to lead 190 people because we were like a family and the top guild on the server beating new raids/bosses weeks before any other team could. We also didn't like our enemies, only thing we did was kill them.
Have you ever played an MMO?
Funnest thing about MMOs are being in a guild. Competing with other guilds to see who can down the new content first.
Growing with your guild and helping each out. Having crazy funny conversations in the guild chat. Getting a name for yourself so when the your enemies in PVP see you, they run cause they know what we will do to them.
Having a well structured and organized guild, and knowing how your teammates play is very important aspect of the game and downing new content. Having people in and out of your guild and train hopping around everyday is completely retarded and anyone who has been in a top guild in a game knows and understands this. I like to get into games and if in the game another faction is my enemy and I PVP against them, it's going to stay that way. I'm not just going to join up with my enemies and start helping them one day cause i'm bored with my main.
Sorry I've never been the type in real life and not in video games.

yess i indeed have played alot of MMORPGs.
And im generaly a player that will stick to one faction. Im a planetside player you know how that goes.

But get this. Not everyone is the same person. Not everyone is you.
And this does not affect YOU in any way. Nobody forces you to say it. So why do you complain about a feature that has no meaning to you?

It does affect me. I want to have my guild name under my character and wear it with pride.
Playing a game where everyone is jumping from guild to guild, and not taking the factions seriously, doesn't sound fun to me.
And how are you even going to talk to your guild mates if some members are in multiple guilds?
Are they going to have multiple guild chats for each guild you are in?

Are we sure it's multiple player guilds that can be joined? Or by "joining multiple guilds" were the devs just referring to the Fighters Guild/Mages Guild/Thieves Guild etc, as well as one player guild?

I can see that player guild rankings would get a lot more complicated if players could be a member of more than one of them. I'd definitely like to get more specifics about how player guilds will work.

nobody forces you to do that. it doesnt concern you. and if you say your guild is that tight anyway. why bother?
Do you need to bind your new members by force?

I just found out that they meant that you can join other guilds to participate in raids.
But you can't actually join and be in 2 guilds at the same time.

It still would concern me because if you couldn't tell if someone was in a guild or not how can you recruit them to be on your team?
I don't understand why you have an attitude, I was just trying to find out more info.

No one is talking about forcing anyone to do anything. Even being restricted to one player guild, the guild membership isn't a pair of shackles. If you don't like it, then leave.

I'm just talking about the oddity of being allowed to join more than one player guild. Have any other games done that, and have they done well?

There are just a lot of things I'd like to know. How does guild ranking work when players can be members of more than one player guild? Will guild masters be able to easily find out in-game if one of their members has also joined another guild? Can all the members of one guild create a new guild so everyone is now a member of two guilds? Can they do it again so all the guild members are a member of three guilds? Can they keep doing that until their list of guild names amounts to a Shakespearian sonnet? And how will guild names be displayed in game anyhow? If you are a member of 16 guilds, how can they possibly display that many names by your character? And if they don't display names, how do you even find out what guilds another player is a member of?

So, like I said, I just have a lot of questions.

guild wars 2 did this.
basically you can choose wich guild you represent.
as for the guildmasters knowing all these things. i dont know. but honestly, its not the guildmasters business.

Me too and this isn't a small issue. This would affect the whole game and probably ruin it for me and my friends who have been talking about this.

i still dont see the problem.
you say you play with a tight knit guild of your friends. why would that change anything about your expirience?

Badnews every comment you've made has no real issue attached to it.

Clarion Call was in Guild Wars 2 a game where you can join Multiple Guilds, it really isn't an issue. You want members that want to be part of your guild, and raid with you, if they join another guild and don't make your raid time than they aren't the members you want.

Joining Multiple guilds is needed when the game is designed as a Mega-Server with 3 different faction. If I can't join Multiple Guilds than how can I place all 3 sides, experience the storylines from the other factions?

You say you have over 190 people in SWTOR, even if all 190 want to play ESO chances are, they won't all want to play the same faction as you've picked especially if they have played TES games in the past, they might have come passionate to a race that isn't on your chosen faction.

But like I said your issues aren't real issues, if they don't make your scheduled events or be part of the guild you don't want them as members. Unless your 190 people you had in SWTOR was really like 10 people and 180 were people that stopped playing 3 weeks after release.

On GW2 where guilds can be across multiple servers, the WvW guild that I am in will kick out players who transfer to another realm. It's part of the rules that everyone knows about (you are required to rep the guild while doing WvW). So if you listed that as part of your guild rules, that members could only be part of your faction, as long as guilds are by characters and not account wide, it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with Badnews... TESO will have this "political issue" of the three factions... How can it be fair if you have someone on enemy side as spy? Guess what: Nobody cares - Because nobody does anykind of tactics these days. But I like to think that on TESO it will be different - mostly because TES players are hardcore rp'ers and not casual kiddos as you find in WoW.

I don't like the idea of someone playing both sides and I would kick him from my guild or leave my guild if someone is doing / suporting this what I like to call "meta-exploit".
