Greetings fellow scrollers,

After a much long heated debate in another forum, I was able to obtain confirmation about minor lore in ESO timeline.

Quote:Greetings !

Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team! We always enjoy hearing from such loyal and enthusiastic Elder Scrolls fans such as yourself. The Knahaten Flu is indeed still active in some areas during the time in which The Elder Scrolls Online occurs, but those areas will not be in the game at launch.

We hope that helps answer your question! We’d encourage you to keep an eye on our official site, Facebook, and Twitter for the latest ESO news and features, including our Ask Us Anything articles in which we answer questions from our community.

So it will be exciting do see if they will unlock this plagued location with lore or just "fluff" it went away.

As a chosen Argonian, I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of my homeland. What are you thoughts?

the flu is very much an active factor of the lore anyway, justifying the kahjiits role in the dominion.
not sure if i like the concept of it beeing the reason for beeing locket out of southern black marsh. at the end of the day if these regions are introduced by the lore, you can tjust say 50 years passed. that makes no sense. magical cure? that would be silly.
And you cant get every player corprus so hes disease immune.

what interrests me more is: how did he actually contact them.

I got into a HUGE debate. It got into comparing "black plague" etc from real life. So, as it's minor lore for now, it i'm sure was easier to answer than something huge. UESP does state how long it was ACTIVE, but other person try to interpret it as "effects" lasting. Black Plague is what he tried to support his side, yet the black plague was brought on by fleas, off rats, running through cities squaller. But after better sanitation, it naturally was taken care of. The Flu, is a magically altered airborne pathogen disease. It spread over to most tamriel, so it may be minor lore confirmation but was major points for my debate :)

What did one Dwemer say to another Dwemer about the crying Snow Elf, "Show The Falmer Underground!"

wether or not it is magically altered is not said, however i would say that the black plague analogy is right and wrong for two different reasons.
first both work very differently and have very different outcomes, but on the other hand, for the people in question, the expirience might be a quite different one.

However while the black plague in europe caused misery over the whole country. here it actually not only damaged the population, but actually caused an exodus out of one of the, at that time, heavily populated province. the flu in the other region is actually only a by product of this fact.
Also it should be noted that the black plague had a tendency of instilling a stasis on where it was raging, as waging wars was a very risky act, that doesnt mean it hasnt happened, in fact the plague had been used as a means of warfare before, but ofthen the great loss of life had a tendency of attracting even more rats and other disease bringers.

i definitly wouldnt say that the knahaten flu is the black plague of TES; that would actually be the Thrassian plague, and even that is actually highly different as it actually is a bioweapon by the sload.

It is said, that some infected gathered and build a ship known as "crimson ship". They sailed whole Tamriel coastal line to find a refugium, a haven, but every harbour city would chase them. Finally they arrived in Hammerfell and found no asylum as well. So they left Tamriel trying to cross the unknown seas.

This shows, that atleast some infected can survive over a long time while still having obvious symptoms. And these symptoms doesn´t seem to influence the sick very much, unlike Corprus. It wouldn´t make sense transformed insane monsters to build a ship. It´s also said too be extremly contagenious. So it wouldn´t make sense to have infected as enemy type.

Does anybody know how exactly Ayrenn, the queen of the dominion, could end the plague in Elsweyr? She didn´t do it completely, but still the Khajiit follow her now.

Yes, that was the Kothringi peoples of Nibenay, I think.

Good question: they probably claim it was by their superior magic, but I think their response to the plague was a little more brutal, going by descriptions of Senchal in the Pocket Guide:
Quote:In CE560, a strain of the Knahaten Flu blew across the channel from nearby Argonia and quickly infected the city's population. Whole neighborhoods were razed in some mad effort to cleanse Senchal of the Flu and have never been rebuilt. Visitors to the open-air markets can see these charred skylines on the periphery, as black and jagged as the teeth of the nearest sugar junkie, begging for cake.

Thank you, this was a quick answer! ;)

You can easily think of Aldmer promising help to the Khajiit by putting the infected under quarantine and murder them, or simply wait till they´re dead. And then selling it as charitableness to make the remaining Khajiit feeling to be in the Aldmers´ debt.
