Level 50! My thoughts...

So I just hit level 50 and thought I'd share my thoughts on the journey. I also leveled Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking in the process; they're level 30, 32 and 30 respectively. My /played is ~48 hours.

I leveled with an AoE build Templar and spent most of my time grinding areas with large packs that I could chain pull. I found a few spots where I could pull up to 10 mobs at a time, and with a bit of practice, kill them consistently dying maybe once an hour.

I've posted an in-depth guide with exact locations and clear directions in the Tamriel Marketplace powerleveling section.

If you're focused, AoE grinding is DEFINITELY faster than questing. Personally I hate questing so I enjoyed this a lot. I found 7 epics and completed just about every drop-able set many times over.

The warlock set that drops around level 17 is AMAZING. The 3-piece set bonus gives you a magicka boost every 60 seconds when you drop below 33% mana. This was HUGE; I basically had infinite magicka. It also scales with level.

ESO is a beautiful game. I'd often stop playing and just take in the landscape, or the intricate detail on some cool object. If you haven't seen a dragon yet, you're in for something great.

Some people think grinding the way I did is boring. It's all good, different strokes etc. I personally had a blast.

Now, off to Veteran content!

I knew the whole 120-150 hours thing was a buncha balls. I'm also doing a templar AoE build.. templars are kind of broken if you ask me. O.o

Why is questing boring, if I may ask?

What journey man? That wasn't a journey, that was a slingshot to 50 missing everything in between.

I am so proud of myself for not doing this.

I have spent more game time rummaging through crates and barrels for provisioning supplies and recipes.
I've finished every zone I have left, I am still going through Stonefalls, so much to do and see, I am trying not to out level the zone before I get to do it all.

What's the point in just grinding all the way to 50? I can understand you doing it after completing everything properly on one or two characters but doing it just at launch? Really? You've barely experienced what the game has to offer at all.

That said, thanks for sharing the grinding locations anyway. Once I reach veteran ranks with my main maybe I'll use them for my next character if it's in the same alliance.

Yeah I agree 100% with all the replies here. But on the other hand, I understand 100% that different ppl like different things, different games, and different methods; and hate some things that other ppl love. So to each his own. Myself, I am savoring every moment of every level. In Skyrim, I started out just DYING to get to a high level, with awesome power to wield. When I got there, it got a bit boring. Had to start another char just for the challenge; and also a bit just to try different things, different specialties. I held-off releasing dragons till I was about Lv25. I really enjoyed that game. This one is like that. There is so much to have fun with along the way, I don't even try to 'level', that's not what the game is about to me; leveling is just primarily a necessary evil; and secondarily a way to get some better weapon power.

But to each his own. I did find this interesting, and will check out the guide someday.

I did that with my 1st char (Beta). I found it got too unbearably hard as I approached Lv10. Then I read the 'tips and tricks' suggestions. So I have a couple of things to tell you:
1. Don't spread your skill points out in many places. Specialize in 2 or 3 attack methods, try to put the vast majority of your skill points there; at least to Lv16 (IDK past that). Make those attack methods one melee, one area-of-effect (AoE) to kill groups of baddies, and later (see below) a ranged attack. Get a major ability ASAP (should be about Lv7). It is better to "morph" a skill rather than start a new skill line. Save up a skill point or two around Lv4-6, you will need it to unlock a new and much better skill line that you need; such as Aedric Javelin for the Templar - you need some kind of good ranged attack too. Every half dozen or more skill points you can put one on something else, perhaps armor and a racial perk. You can also put one skill point into some crafting perk such as keen eye for ores if you are heavy armor physical damage fighter, or keen eye for fibrous plants if you are light armor centric such as I recommend for Templar or Sorcerer; at about Lv5. Otherwise, spend those skill points on three attack skill lines max.

2. I have read that it is very hard to develop a Nightblade solo. They need a group support. So if you are not grouping, Nightblade is not a good choice. FYI.

3. Get ALL the skyshards possible - and remember there are skyshards on the tutorial islands! Use skyshard cheat maps to get them all - I cannot stress the importance of getting ALL the skyshards enough! I recommend:
Dulfy

EDIT 4/4: Dulfy is offline this morn.
