Faction & Race:
Aldmeri Dominion (Altmer)
Hey guys, since there was some interest in the idea, and I've got my life somewhat back under control, I think its time to start looking at seriously starting this RP off.

I would like to make this a closed RP because I think that it would make it easier to establish who is doing what and controls which part of the "state".

So, I'm going to repost the general outline and if you wish to participate please reply and we'll start the planning.

(At about 4:30 EST I'm going to be leaving to drive back home, so I will be unable to reply for about 5-5 1/2 hours.)

The original thread read:

Races:
Elves are the social elite of this society. They have extended this courtesy to their half-elf children, but their human parent receives no special treatment from having given birth to a half-elf child. Mages hold all political power, and elves have a long history of magic use, but not all elves are mages.

Caste System:
There is a caste system implemented in this society. From most power to least power they are: Elven Mages, non-mage Elves, Temple Clerics, Human Mages, The Guard, non-slave humans, elf slaves, human slaves.

Powerful elves can hire mercenaries and assassins. Some of the more powerful have quite large personal armies in their estates.

Slavery:
Slaves are created in two ways. They can be born into slavery, and will be free once their parents have re-payed their debt, or a free person can be forced into slavery if they cannot pay a debt to the court or a debtor. This slavery system has created some social tensions.

Government:
There exists a ruling council known as the Magocracy. This Magocracy elects a Mage-King from their ranks and he rules until he dies, or becomes mentally incompetent. The Mage-King is elected due to their magical prowess. However, there is a lot of competition to be elected, so it is not uncommon for blackmail and bribery to be implemented. It has also been rumored that certain factions employ assassins to eliminate key figures of the other factions.

Geography:
The Island consists of one major capitol city, and two other major cities. The capitol is located in the center of the island while the first major city is located on the Northern shore of the island near the large silver mine, and the second city is on the southern shore and is the largest port on the island. The rest of the island is covered by dense groves of trees. Farming communities have sprout up along the major roads to and from the three major cities.

Religion:
Everyone on the island worships a Holy Trinity: The Matron(creator and nurturer) The Warrior(protector and keeper of justice) and The Maiden (symbolizes purity and innocence), three aspects of one Goddess. However, it is rumored by the common folk that the temple is corrupt.
The Temple is strictly against Necromancy and approves of the caste system. It holds the court and is the official justice system.
While it takes humans, they never rise high within the ranks, only ever preaching to other humans. Half-Elves have tended to gravitate towards the temple as they can rise to the upper ranks of power, where they couldn't in the Elf dominated Magocracy.
The Temple has its own army called the Templars.

Law and Order:
Maintained by a city guard, made up of the lower castes. It is loyal to the law and the city it inhabits, as oppose to any one lord. However it is rumored to often corrupt at the top, leading to brutality and other injustices. A convict is brought before the temple magistrate (of the higher orders) to answer for their crimes. Punishments consist of prison, slavery and the execution.

Enemies of civilization:
There are a group of islands to the South, settled by Atmorans long ago, who have persisted the test of time and continue to raid the coast. Another, problem is the goblin horde that attacks the mining town. And of course, there is the constant threat of revolt from the humans against the Elves and the Magocracy.

Ebonheart Pact

...this was popular a few moments ago...

Name: Cernad Deacon
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Race: Human
Class: Non-Slave
Faction: Revolutionary

Backstory: His father was a slave who worked in the mines until he was freed for his hard work. He married and had three children, of which Cerdan was the middle.
Senal, the eldest, took to mining like his father although, even though there was payment, there was little difference between his life and his father's, as all the payment he had earned had to be spent on providing money for the family, since their father had died earlier due to a cough from working in the pits. Despite this, he kept his head down and did his job.
Cerdan, on the other hand, received an education, which Senal had rejected, claiming his intelligence was not enough to make the most out of the cost. Therefore, Cerdan went to the city as soon as he came of age and saw the wealth in which the Elven rulers lived. He was disgusted at how they could live as such for merely talking and squandering while his father and brother, who had worked their whole lived in squalor. And it was because of this, that he got involved with the Revolutionaries.
One day, a new law came around, decreasing the miners' pay. Senal, although he wasn't a politically active man, went on protest with the rest of the miners. Every single person in that protest was burned to ashes by magefire. The Revolutionaries, bolstered by the ranks of furious miners, grew so much stronger that day and launched their own attacks. It was then that the Revolutionaries became a power to be reckoned with.
But Cerdan realised that he now had to look after his younger brother: Roin. Now fueled with a vengeance, he didn't want to be tied down by responsibility. The Revolutionaries took care of the last Deacon and Cerdan rose higher in the ranks, until he was one of the leading members of the Revolution. His brother, holding no enmity, came after him and he became Cerdan's right hand man.
The Revolution is now a threat, and Cerdan knows that if there was any time to strike, it is now.

I'll post another Elf character soon. I just wanted to show 'em the an/protagonists

I'm a bit confused, is this TES related at all? (Is it just one elven race or the three/four from TES) I'd like to join either way.

Not specifically... I forgot the reasons why we decided to put it up here... it's just the one race, but we can assume that they're related to the Aldmeri
