Faction & Race:
Ebonheart Pact (Dunmer)
Firstname - Maleus

Sex - Male

Birthdate - Sun's Dusk 5th 2E 531

Age - 51 (or 52 depending on when TESO comes out)

Occupation - Witchhunter, though he simply calls himself an adventurer to avoid suspicion from his prey.

Faction - Ebonheart Pact

Appearance - Maleus has red hair which he wears at a medium length brushed behind his dunmer ears. He has no scars or warpaint to speak of, instead wearing a almost permanent frown on his gaunt face. His body is lean and lightly muscular and his arms are well toned, most likely from manual labor.

Personality - Maleus usually come off as a grim character like most of his race though he has been known to be more relaxed on occasion. He doesn't like to be confrontational and will usually apologize if he feels he has angered someone to the point of violence and will avoid instigating in most all cases which has often led to people thinking him a coward. However he is not apposed to defending himself if he must.

Social Background/Backstory - Andreb and Nekenth were both of House Indoril and were both born and raised in a small village near Necrom. They lived piously, Andreb working as a tribunal priestess preparing the nearly endless incoming dead for burial in necrom and Nekenth was employed as a caravan driver who delivered goods to back and forth to the city of Almalexia, Necrom and everywhere in between. Their son, a young dunmer named Maleus would ride with his father on deliveries as well as help load and unload the silt striders. When not delivering supplies with his father Maleus would reside in their village, where there isn’t much for a child to do except be respectful of your elders and the surrounding catacombs.

One day Maleus, now a young mer of fifteen years, was riding along with his father on their silt strider caravan when they were ambushed by a group of mages. Drawing a bow and some arrows he and his father proceeded to protect the caravan. They killed two of the raiders from the group of about five when the silt strider, still moving forward, tripped over a fallen tree in the road, taking Maleus, his father and the rest of the caravan down with it. Stuck under a large crate of greef, Maleus looked into the sunken faces of the assailants. “By my ancestors If you lay a finger on me I.. I’ll cut you limb from limb and feed you to the guars!” Maleus said, unsuccessfully trying to cover up the fear in his voice. They laughed in unison at Maleus’ empty threat. So it was quite a surprise when a few expertly placed arrows came from the tree line and struck the three remaining mages through the back, killing them almost instantly.

After a few moments a dunmer was visible approaching. Without talking he moved the crate from atop Maleus and began looking around. Maleus, still in a state of shock, thanked his rescuer and began looking around the wreckage. The first thing he noticed was the mages who had attacked the caravan. They wore black robes and trinkets made of bone. Upon searching one of them he found a black soul gem, it was like nothing he had seen before and very mysterious. Before he could get a good look at it, it was quickly snatched away by the dunmer who rescued him, who took one look at the gem and spat the word “necromancers” before taking Maleus by the arm and leading him to the fallen tree in the road. Before Maleus, impaled on a protruding branch was the corpse of his father. Malues rushed over and checked his fathers pulse, confirming his fears. No tears were shed, instead Maleus yelled with rage looking back at the necromancers with disgust and anger.

Maleus’ rescuer revealed himself to be a witchhunter by the name of Anaro Felothi and that he had been tracking rumors of this coven of necromancers for a few days. He offered to escorted Maleus back to his village, which Malues refused at first, saying he wanted to hunt down the necromancers that he now blamed for his father’s death. Though after a being calmed down and scolded for his stupidity by Anaro he reluctantly accepted. It was a long trip about half a day’s walk from the wreckage back to his village. On the way Anaro told Maleus about his previous hunts for vampires, necromancers and cultists. He made special note of the difficulty in discerning proof of the nature of wicked sorcerers, vampires, etc. and close calls he experienced at the receiving end of their profane spells. Upon reaching Maleus’ home Anaro left him to his mother’s care and went along his way, leaving only mystery and admiration in his place. A party was sent out to recover Nekenth’s body and a funeral was held in their village the next night. His father’s will had left the bones of his right hand to be left at their Waiting Door on the mantle above the fireplace.

Not even a week had passed since the funeral when two ordinators arrived in the village looking for a Dunmer favoring a bow for a string of murders. Reports lead them to Maleus, who refused to give up a name until they threatened to lock up his mother in the Ministry of truth for reformation, after which Maleus told them all he knew of Anaro Felothi and they went on their way. About a month later Maleus heard that they had held a public execution in Almalexia city and that Anaro’s defence was that he should be released, citing that he only hunted necromancers and other dark minded outlaws, but the lack of evidence proved his downfall.

Now a fifty-one year old dunmer Maleus was leaving home he grew up in. His mother had months ago died of the Knahaten Flu, Maleus had exhausted all but five hundred drakes taking care of her and Maleus could not find a buyer for the house because it had been quarantined by the temple for fear of spreading the flu. Maleus only took a few his possessions with him. A small box containing the bones his father’s right hand, a bonemold bow with a netch leather quiver of chitin arrows and a couple sets of hiking clothes. With all but a hundred drakes he purchased supplies for his travels, such as salted scrib jerky, bottled water, a bed roll, torches, a hunting knife, flint and tinder. There was no one that cared to ask him where he would go, but he would have responded “I hear there are many necromancers to the in cyrodiil as of late. Perhaps I’ll head west and show them just what I think of them.” Not a very good line, perhaps its best no one cared to ask.

TLDR: Grew up near Necrom in Morrowind and worked as a caravan trader with his father until he was killed during a necromancer raid. Saved by a fugitive witchhunter and returned to his home, he seeks to emulate the stranger and take revenge on the necromancers he blames for the death of his father.

Best Memory - Any memory of his father or mother.

Worst Memory - The death of his father.

Skills - Archery and subtlety are his main strengths he relies on, but he also knows some restoration and alchemy.

Challenges for the Character - Maleus hold a deep grudge and little to no mercy for vampires, cultists, were-creatures, deadra worshipers and especially necromancers who he holds responsible for his fathers death and he believes they all need purged from Tamriel, Though this zealotry often get him into combat with powerful foes and will surely be his downfall.

Birthsign -The Atronach

Religious Views -The Tribunal as his gods and those who worship deadra are his enemies.

Politics Views - Maleus believes the Great House's warfare is foolish when there are other, more evil forces at work.
