Molag Bal?

How are we defeating Molag Bal? Are killing him or just stopping him from joining Coldharbour to Nirn?

I was thinking, if we killed him in his plain of Oblivion he would be lost into the void, meaning that he can't interact with mortals because well... he's dead so that would be kind of lore breaking because you can do a quest for him in Skyrim etc.
But if we killed him on Nirn, he would go back to Coldharbour and he could still interact with players in the future (The other TES games).

So do we kill him or...?

there isn't any info on how, we kill him if we kill that is, but personally I hope that how he is defeated is lore-friendly

It's pretty much impossible to permanantly kill a normal Daedra, let alone a Daedric Prince. Molag Bal can invade for the same reason Mehrunes Dagon did -- the Dragonfires are not lit. I'd even go as far as to guess that we won't really defeat him. We'll just keep destroying Dark Anchors until Tiber Septim is Emperor.

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

Actually you can permanently kill a Daedric prince if you kill him in his plane of Oblivion.

I think we're going to hit him until he stops trying to drag Nirn into Coldharbour.

I highly doubt we kill him. mainly because he is in later TES games...

‎I must not fear. Fear is the mid-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total annihilation. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I don't really feel like our personal stories will end with us defeating him, just getting our soul back. Because if we beat him it would make no sense when we run into anchors after we finish our stories.

You'll probably defeat an Aspect of him for the main quest.

Afterwards, the souls he took are returned to everyone (in that player's instance) and his plans fail.

One cannot simply kill the King of Rape and Harvester of Souls. I would imagine that you would defeat Molag Bal rather than kill him. To kill him in the literal sense would mean possessing Daedric power yourself, and not just possessing a Daedric Artifact, but by also becoming the avatar of a Daedric Prince stronger than Molag Bal. Defeating Jyggalag required the strength of all of the Daedric Princes, and even then, they just changed him into Sheogorath. Defeating a Daedra is a mission in itself, but to kill one? HA! I'll seek you out in Aetherius.

^^. A daedric lord cannot be killed, merely defeated. But he will return as we all know.

Yeah, as others have said. You can't kill a Daedric prince. That and he appears in later titles. I bet he'll be the main focus until the first expac or a later patch.
