Faction & Race:
Daggerfall Covenant
Orc
I dont know what race I want to be and it would be great if I can get advice on which race is best for my playstyle. So I want to be an assassin that uses a bow and magic. And advice would be great and I would like to stay away from dunmer and nord considering they are overplayed.

I would recommend a Bosmer, although any race can be any class or good at anything.

Race won't affect your class that much so it is really up to. I'd suggest a Breton, but any race can do any class equally as good.

Yea race will not matter all that much It appears. It's more about the look and feel while playing the class you want.

Be guided by the Hand of Justice or be Crushed by the Fist of the Tribunal.

I would suggest a Wood Elf, for their natural archery skill and being of the Elven blood. That or a Breton.
But it really doesn't matter.

Pick a race you identify with, or one whose lore you like. I really like how Redguards are naturally athletic (being an athlete this appeals to me) and excellent swordsmen (swords are my preferred weapons). And I like how strong of warriors they are. So I decided before my first play through in Oblivion that I would play as them. I'd suggest going through the same process. Find a race that matches you or how you want to play. You'll find every alliance has races that fit most roles: The DC has talented brutes in the orcs, excellent fighters and rogues in the bretons and Redguards, with the bretons also being renowned for their mages. The EP has excellent warriors in the Nords, incredible mages in the Dunmer, and the argonians are famous for their stealth and guerrilla tactics. The AD has arguably some of the best races for mages with the Altmer, the Khajiit are great warriors and thieves and the bosmer make excellent archers

Fight for something to die for, because living for nothing really isn't worth it.

Racial skill lines aren't that unimportant so it does kinda make a difference. Obviously you can have a the same build on any race but you might like the passives of one race over another, like for example nord lvls up two handed swords faster and has a small percentage of health regen while in combat.

first question is wich faction you want to play, and as you stated before, nords and dunmers are out, so you left with DC and AD, every race by lore will fill up a place, but it doesnt realy matter. you should choose a race you think you are more going to, search about his lore and such and his origins and cities, think of the province you will visit while in his faction, and maybe try to play him in one of the TES games.

and after all, you should ask you'rself, what is MY favourite race.

I had nothing to add, just wanted to say I'm digging the old school orc pic from early development.

it always makes me sad to see all those people in race threads talking about racial bonuses. Its a minor niche bonus and shouldnt really be a factor when you create your character. There are hundreds of skills out there and more to come in content updates.

Most important factor in deciding which race to choose should be how attractive it is to the player. Mind the progression in ESO is beyond level cap and you would probably use that character for years. Game will change alot over the years and you could be stuck with ugly race just because you wanted that little extra 3% armor but you already play healer for years

I as Elder Scrolls fan since Arena am going solely for whats attractive to me and dont really care about 2 minor passives and 1 ultimate that comes with race

Debating with someone on the Internet is like mudwrestling with a pig. You get filthy and the pig loves it

True.
But it would make it a little more lore friendly.

It really doesn't matter, as long as you have fun with it :D

Race doesn't matter, if anything it's more fun to be the few Orc Thieves or Mage Redguards
