I understand they never wanted any part of empire, but didn't the empire take over pretty much everything? Wasn't Morrowind taken by the Imperials? I was just curiose to see if there was ever a group of Dunmer who tried to overthrow this power.

Without spouting too much Dunmer lore...

The Dunmer are, traditionally, a very xenophobic and racist people. Xenophobia and racism may sound too similar to list separately [to some], but the nuances are quite different.

They don't like other people, and they really, really hate it when they see a foreigner in their homeland. They never welcomed the Empire. Some of the Great Houses learned to take advantage of Imperial rule and trade, others just dealt with it, and others still despised it. (bonus points to who can match the house to the position).

So to answer your question, OP. They never liked the Empire to begin with. They certainly didn't shed a tear when they found themselves void of imperial troop presence.

-Hlaalu and Telvanni took advantage of imperial laws and trade.

-Redoran and Dres just reluctantly accepted it for the most part.

-Indoril despised the empire and many high ranking members committed ritual suicide after the signing of the treaty of armistice.
-Dagoth hates the Outlanders and by that virtue the Imperials most of all.

actually not all of that is correct.

The hlaalu took advantage of it. the telvanni actually didnt, they are staunch enemies of all imperial ruled institutions, such as the mages guild or their traders, actually not allowing imperial citizens that are not members of the great house to trade in its district.

Redoran puts up with it, they are defenders but it is not their mission to question them.
Dres has actually changed quite a bit according to the empire, actually shifting its focus from slaves to other ways of generating their income.

I guess we can all agree on Indoril.
About Dagoth its a tricky one, fully understanding their actions is hard but i supose its fair to say that they do dispise the outlanders.

Hmm? Darn, Well my thinking on Telvanni was that they managed to encroach on a bit of land when Vvardenfell opened up and I kinda took that as the Telvanni taking advantage of the opportunity set by the imperial placed King of Morrowind Hlaalu Helseth I think his name was.

With Dres I kinda took them for a catch all House and Decided to place them with Redoran to even the Board out. Kinda a dumb move on my part, probably could have looked that one up.

Items 3 and 4 of Dagoth Ur's plans state:

Quote:3. Extirpate all remaining individuals of inferior and mongrel races from Morrowind.

4. Drive the Empire from Morrowind.

and turn all of the non mongrels into zombies with worms in their faces.

im sorry i see this as propaganda and nothing else. dagoth urs real plans probably go more along the lines of: conquer the world, be a god.
