So as Tamriel Foundry has been covering the many different skill lines these past few weeks, it seems they have finally unveiled the Ranged Weapons lines.

These would be the Bow, Destruction Staff and Restoration Staff. Personally I prefer a good blade in my hands, but I'm excited to learn about these skills all the same. Here's a link to the article:

And.......DISCUSS

This is really exciting. That Poison Arrow seems really nice. I'm loving how the Elemental Wall sounds. I'm definitely going to have to dabble. :D

In my opinion ranged seem a lot mire interesting than melee. Bow is really powerful, destructions stuff looks like loads of fun and restroration stuff is also quite powerful and very useful.

Ranged is usually more interesting than melee in that sense. Think about it: I'm swinging a sword v i'm throwing a fireball. Which looks more awesome?

I always find CQC more fun. The immediate danger gets me juiced. I like ranged too though, it gives an opportunity to see more of the battlefield and I find it a little more relaxing

That is generally the trade off. In order to balance melee and ranged, as well as make both appealing to players so as to avoid one play style trumping all, melee tends to get buffs and stuff towards survival and such. While ranged can have some BA DPS abilities they only have a couple GTFO moves while there's a good deal more gap closing abilities for melee players comparatively. Toe to toe, melee players should stomp ranged.

It's like comparing two cars, one that looks sexy and fast acceleration and the other with great top speed and handling, but maybe not the fastest acceleration. The faster car may trump with straight aways and quick courses (here this is compared to keeping someone at range in an MMO) but get it on a track that twists and makes you play the distance game (here compared to a melee player's survivability and gap closing) and it'll win every time.

Course with the open ended skill system and the ability to wear any armour of weapon we can get awesome hybrids with battle mages ticked into tin cans of armour, dolling out hell while taking the punishment, and then we have light armoured assassins that can disappear and put a knife between your ribs like nobodies business (yet will fold like a leaf if u okay your cc right) so that's what really makes this game both incredibly fun and incredibly challenging

Ohhh yeah baby! Picture this friends, heavily armored Khajit with a Fire Staff on, first I cast Weakness to Elements first followed by Impulse then by then the enemy may be close so ill cast myself a big ol' Wall of Elements for them to stand in before switching into my Shield and Battle Axe (which is fire enchanted) maybe throwing in a couple of my Dragonknights' flame abilities! I will burn it ALL. TO. THE. GROUND!!!! >:D

My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more variety in ranged weapons such as throwing weapons or crossbows, but it just does not seem likely and crossbows were already confirmed only to be used in certain abilities granted through the fighters guild.

I was planning on just going sword and board, but now I may need to throw a bit of ranged in the mix. Who doesn't love an open class system?

I'm a little worried about the PvP balance with the bow. Most of their stuff is about stuns and snares, and they get a speed boost too. 1v1 against someone that doesn't also have some serious ranged damage or snares is looking a little off-balance because of potential kiting issues.

In class skill lines there are quite a few gap closing abilities, so it should be fairly balanced. Like teleport strike or focused charge.

As well if all they focus on is stuns and snares then they may lack straight up DPS mo0vesk, which gives other lines and skills an advantage (when they do get some hits in, those hits hit hard, as opposed to hitting meh but also stunning).

In PvP ranged would probably get whacked by melee fast, since the game isnt balanced around 1v1 but focused on group gameplay

Quite a few PvP beta tests already happened, so it should be fairly well balanced by now

Good analogy
