I replayed Bloodmoon in anticipation for Skyrim, but not since then. Strangely enough, I still haven't done every questline in Morrowind - I think I'm missing the Imperial Legion and the Cult - whereas I saw everything in Skyrim at least 2-3 times already. Shame they don't make such rich games anymore ...

I'm also following the development of OpenMW (http://openmw.org/en/). It's a really interesting project.

Its hard to make every quest in MW... and even if you do so, the second time you will feel them totally different. and the third, and the fourth, and so on hehe!
Its cool to see there are still projects revolving around Morrowind!

welp the Quests in Morrowind feel so long because alot of it is walking around, there is no real fast travel (good luck finding a stilt strider to the northern island)
Also alot of talking, alot of fetching books and a lot getting sidetracked.

Skyrim is very stragiht forward in its quest design. Wich is hit n miss. It gives you a very short but very distilled expirience. They did this best in Dawnguard where every ques tis realy realy long and introduces new stuff to the game, with the second last quest beeing my favorite of all TES games.

Im still waiting for Dawnguard on the PC, and your info gives me high hopes.
I play Skyrim "a-la-Morrowind". No fast travel (I use Frostfall mod for that) and I always turn map markers off (unless not even a little direction is given to me) .
That makes my game much more longer, and more enjoyable from the RP aspect.

well dawnguard has its share of annoyances. But the second last quest in itself introduces 6 new enemy types two to three new envirement types two new armor types and revelas something quite unexpected, also has a cool boss fight. Definitly worth the wait, but im not gonna spoil anything here.

Thank you to avoid the spoil! I know pretty nothing of the DLC, just the basics, and I want to keep it that way! I hope it comes fast to the pc.
Meanwhile... I keep playing Morrowind and a little bit of Skyrim.

I'm a very horrible person and I feel horrible, but I find it hard to get used to Morrowind. Oblivion was my first game, so I have a bit of trouble adapting to Morrowind's combat system. To be brutally honest, it can get kind of clumsy, at least to me. And the running animations look... well, I don't know if I'm the only one, but I don't run like that. :P

Speaking of, are there any mods that replace that animation?

It's completely understandable. While Morrowind is my favorite TES game, being that it was my first, it's definitely out of date and from a generation long past.

As far as answering your question in regards to updating Morrowind to be a bit more current, here is an interesting project:

http://morroblivion.com/

Their goal is to convert and to enhance Morrowind to the capabilities and graphics of Oblivion. I believe they are even looking at further pushing the conversion to Skyrim graphics and capabilities.

Mm, I've seen that project, and while I'd be more excited to see Oblivion and Morrowind running on Skyrim's engine, I'm definitely keeping my eye on it.

My query was mostly about that one running animation, though. It's kind of weird-looking and I'd rather have it replaced. Not that I spend much time out of 1st person in Morrowind, that is. :P

I dont understand how anyone would prefer Oblivion to Morrowind. I can totaly see it with Skyrim. Skyrims combat system is superior. Oblivions however is not. All the Backpeddling, what a disgrace.
Morrowind btw is meant to be played first person, the only TES game you can realy play in third person is Skyrim.

On another note, im sorry to inform you but it will never be as great as it was to us. Why? Cause i was like 11-12 years old and i had no idea of the fantasy genre. My previous games were Descent 2 and Heroes of Might and Magic.

It just had the magic, from where the hell should i know the limitations of a game? When i first saw a cliffrunner in the mist over Pelgiad i thought it was a chained dragon. Then i was like ITS NOT CHAINED and ran the fuck away. It was glorious.

Morrowind fandom is alot about nostalgia. I would go as far as to say its 70% nostalgia and 30% awsome lore.
