”Marcus …” He heard his wife calling his name. “ … Marcus, please put me down.” He closed his eyes, as he put down his wife down on the ground. “… You’ll be fine, Marcus.” He could hear his wife whisper his name once more. “You’ll be fine and be doing the right thing.” His tears were now running down his cheeks, her voice were becoming weaker and weaker for each passing moment.

He opened his eyes, gazing down upon the burnt remains of his wife. Not able to speak as he watched her once beaming cheeks that were burnt and ashen. He tried to look upon the empty sockets and trying in vain to see the once lively sea of blue, they were gone.

“I love you.” He whispered back, his voice broken and worn like a lifetime of agony and suffering. He looked down upon his beloved wife, always having meant the world for him and now he would be enduring each passing day without his wife hands upon his shoulders.

And I take it this has nothing to do with the Roman Emperor and Philosopher Marcus Aurelius?
