Noric awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of a loud crash, as he sat up in his bed he listened for another and heard a loud scream. He jumped out of bed grabbing a sword from his belt that was draped over his chair and rushed for his bedroom door. As he swung open the door sword in hand he peered cautiously into the hallway. As he scanned the hall he heard a low faint growl come from Theodyne's room only two doors down. As he stepped into the hallway he gripped the sword with both hands raising the hilt of the sword level with his shoulders ready to strike. He took two steps and then froze as a large beast stepped into the hallway from Theodyne's room. Even on all fours, this was the largest wolf Noric had ever seen, rising to chest level with the large warrior. As Noric stood still, the wolf turned it's head to match Noric's stare. Noric stared right into the beast's deep yellow eyes and the it let loose a bone chilling snarl curling it's upper lip to reveal it's teeth. Noric slowly moved one foot behind him to take a defensive stance fearing the creature might strike and the beast turned and fled down the hallway on all fours. Noric fled after the wolf sword in hand and chased it downstairs and through the main chamber of the council's home and to the front doors. The beast turned to Noric and began to pace back and forth having been backed into a corner, keeping his gaze locked with Noric. Noric gripped his sword even tighter, so much so his knuckles turned white. The wolf rose from the ground standing on his hind legs towering over Noric and let loose a ear piercing howl. Fearing that the beast would soon strike, Noric drew back his sword preparing to strike when Alator placed on hand on Noric's shoulder.

"Do not strike this creature, it is Theodyne. Do you not notice the scar?" Alator pointed out as he motioned towards the large black scar over the wolf's heart on his pale underbelly. With a wave of his hand Alator unlocked the doors and pushed them open and the wolf dropped back to it's four legs and ran into the night.

"I almost killed him." Noric stammered as he lowered his sword.

"No, he almost killed you." Alator replied. "Quickly now, we must follow him to ensure he does not harm anyone." And Alator and Noric quickly gave chase.

Dular gro-Bar was camped out not far from the council's castle when he heard the the wolf's cry. Although he was a member of the council he did not like sleeping inside with the rest. The stone walls felt to much like a cave to him and he preferred to see the stars. He had dealt with wolves before and the howl did not scare him in the least but he kept his sword close by all the same. He pondered over the thought of a wolf wandering into his camp and let out a snort. Would make a good addition to his meal he thought has he tended to the fish he was cooking that he had caught earlier in the day. As he was tending his fire he heard the snapping of twigs just beyond the edges of his camp. He grabbed his sword and screamed into the darkness.

"Well come on then! Fish won't be enough to satisfy me!" He picked up a burning log from his fire with his free hand and stepped into the shadows of the forest searching for his meal. During the day the forest was a beautiful place teeming with life, but at night it took on a more sinister feeling. But being an Orc you were not prone to fear. Then he stopped as he heard a low growl come from a bush to his left. He turned and saw the gazing yellow eyes of a wolf and smiled.

"There you are." he said with a grin. He could taste the wolf's cooked flesh as he moved in for the kill.

As he raised his sword high the wolf burst from the bushes but did not attack with his jaws, instead Dular felt a large hand wrap around his neck and as he hit the ground his sword flew from his hand. The large beast lay atop Dular and he could feel the hot breath of the creature on his face. The wolf rose to his hind feet lifting Dular high into the air with only one hand. He lowered Dular only enough so that their faces could meet and let out a roar. Dular reared back and punched the giant wolf in the mouth and and let out a roar of his own. The wolf dropped Dular to his feet and he quickly picked up his sword. If he was going to die on this night, he would make sure that no one would think him a coward. But as he turned back to the creature to strike he noticed it laid on it's side and was writhing with agony. But what was peculiar was the creature was changing it's form. Dular had never seen such a thing before and was puzzled to say the least. So much so that he did not even hear the footsteps approaching him from behind.

"I see you have found our friend Theodyne." Noric said startling the Orc.

"Theodyne?" he questioned. "I almost killed him!" the Orc exclaimed.

"Yes that is how I saw it too." Noric laughed.

"Shutup." Dular grumbled.

While Noric poked fun at what was sure the wrong "bear", Alator moved in closer to Theodyne to see if he was alright.

As Theodyne opened his eyes he was oblivious to what had transpired. He did not even know where he was.

"Are you hurt?" Alator asked.

"I don't think so." Theodyne stammered. "But how....Where am I?" he asked.

"In the forest just outside of Daggerfall." Alator said. As he explained what had happened Theodyne could not believe it. He had almost killed two of his brothers and had no recollection of the events at all.

As Theodyne accepted some clothes that Noric offered Dular turned his head in disgust. "Naked humans are such a terrible sight, disgusting." he said with a snort."

"Always better than a dead Orc aye Dular?" Noric laughed.

Dular did not respond, instead he turned and walked back to his fire to check on his fish that were cooking.

As Theodyne dressed, Alator turned to him, "Maybe it is time to begin that special training you and I spoke of Thedoyne."

"It would seem so." he replied.

Against Dular's wishes, Noric sat down by the fire and ate some fish all the while mocking his Orcish friend while Alator and Theodyne walked back to the castle. Alator spoke of ways to suppress and call upon his inner beats when needed while Theodyne listened. They were undoubtedly techniques he would need if he were to prevent this from happening again and he did not wish to harm anyone. And it would be almost a year before he would need to call upon his beastly form again.....

I agree with Sarin. The more I read these stories, the more attatched I grow to Theodyne and even the other characters that you put into the story, such as Alator. There's almost always something new popping up in each story and it makes me want to keep reading so I can see what happens next. Excellent writing!

Love how the character changes, from a warrior to a necromancer to a werewolf, very good story I eagerly await the next tale of Theodyne.
