Ok, I've compiled a list of questions that arose during dicussions on this board or that sprung into my mind while I was writing. If you have any additional questions, please reply to this thread and I'll update the OP accordingly.

Please do not discuss any questions in this thread, create a seperate one if you feel there's a need to. It will only clutter the thread otherwise as there are too many topics in the list.

I'd love to have some feedback of course, especially, since English is my second language, I'd like to ask you to keep an eye out for spelling, grammar and wording, please. We want this to look good, be easy to read and to understand.

And I was wondering if I should post this list on the official (and temporary) forums or if it's better to wait or not to do this at all.


Things TESOF would like to know, but was too afraid to ask (yet)


PvE
  • "How flat or steep will the leveling curve be?"
  • "Will we see "realistic" loot tables and will we be able to loot what we see on an enemy NPC? Or will mobs share a general loot table and could drop almost anything?"
  • "Will there be "boss" or "elite" mobs?"
  • "Will there be level restrictions to enter certain parts of the world or instances?"
  • "Can you quest in opposing factions' territories? Or will there be quests that lead you through all of Tamriel?"
  • "Will you have static npc mobs distributed throughout the world, or will npcs be spawned dynamically depending on who is in the area?"

PvP and RvR
  • "Can you earn xp and progress your character solely by pvping?"
  • "How long will an average struggle to power take? Days, weeks, months or even longer?"
  • "Can guilds hold or build keeps in Cyrodiil?"
  • "How big will the difference be between a boosted level 1 character and one at level cap that is fully geared?"
  • "Will there be PvE objectives that can be fulfilled to count towards one's faction's war efforts?"
  • "If there is a bounty/karma system, could players be bounty hunters and have player targets?"

Crafting, Economy and Items
  • "What crafting professions will be available?"
  • "Will there be gathering professions?"
  • "How many professions can you learn? Can you learn gathering and crafting profession on the same character?"
  • "Will weapons and armor decay (Morrowind and Oblivion) or will they be indestructible and not need repairs (Skyrim)?"
  • "Will there be bind on pick up / equip / to account items? Or is everything, even used items, freely tradable?"
  • "Will there be an in-game mail system? If yes, will it be faction restricted and can you send items with it?"
  • "How flat or steep will item stat progression be?"
  • "How will the in-game trade system work? Will there be player vendors/stores or auction houses(AH)?"
  • "If there will be AH, will they be restricted to faction/region and where can they be accessed?"
  • "Will native armors(Chitin, Bonemold, Dreugh etc) see a come back in TESO?"
  • "Will there be second currencies (e.g. tokens) to buy items from reward vendors? If yes, will they be tradable?"
  • "How strong or weak will interdependencies be between different crafting professions and adventurers?"
  • "Will a pure crafter be a viabel solution? Do you have to participate in PvE to progress in crafting?"

The World and Exploration
  • "Can you explore the opposing factions' territories?"
  • "To what extent can we interact with out-of-faction provinces?"
  • "Will Tamriel be a seamless world? Or will it be instanced? (e.g. instanced provinces or zones)"
  • "Are Alinor houses made out of crystalized light and insect wings?"
  • "Which main cities will be in the game?"
  • "Are cities fully explorable? Can you enter every building?"
  • "How big are main cities?"
  • "How many smaller settlements, like villages, will be in the game?"
  • "Will there be shops, guild houses, trainers in every settlement?"
  • "What will be the incentives to return to main cities?"
  • "Will NPCs have a daily routine they are following? Will they work and sleep?"
  • "Will there be dynamic weather in ESO? Or will environments be static, besides the day/night cycles shown?"

Lore and Art
  • "Will the game keep the rather unusual fantasy approach of a sometimes weird and alien design or will it aim for being more "high fantasy" than previous Elder Scrolls games?"
  • "Will Jeremy Soule (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim) be composing the music for ESO?"

Guilds and Social Features
  • "Will there be a player/character limit, if so, what will it be?"
  • "Will guilds be supported in-game?"
  • "What are the benefits for a player to join a guild in in-game terms? (e.g. boni)"
  • "Will there be the usual MMO guild features like banking, ranking, designated chats?"
  • "Will you add any new features for guilds? If yes, what are they?"
  • "Can you ally with or declare war on other guilds? And will there be a system in-game to support this?"
  • "Will there be a group finder tool? If yes, for what content will it work? Will it be cross server?"
  • "Are there any fun social features/activities/mini-games to participate in when not doing RvR, raiding, PvE, battlegrounds, etc.?"

Combat
  • "Are you planning on having any sort of incapacitation state for players where a killing blow is necessary?"
  • "How will the stealth mechanic work? Will players simply be invisible until they take any (hostile) action? How can stealthed characters be detected?"

Character / Classes
  • "Will there different types of tanking abilities? And could you concentrate on just one to have a viable build in PvP? (e.g. pure avoidance or parry tanking in light armor)"
  • "What classes will be available?"
  • "Will all classes be available to all factions and races?"
  • "Will there be racial boni? If yes, can we expect something in the line of previous Elder Scrolls games?"
  • "Are you planning on implementing a bounty/karma system similar to the TES games where players could be punished and hunted for committing crimes?"

Servers
  • "Will there be different server types?"
  • "Will you have an in-game presence and moderation? Or will you rely on a ticket system only?"
  • "Will there be live events (like live spawned mobs, and not patched in temporary quest lines)?"
  • "Will there be gamemasters that can interact with the world and the players?"
  • "Will servers be region locked?"
  • "Will servers be faction locked?"
  • "Where will the servers be located?"

Well we DID ask most of these questions.

However since only 1 of us, as far as i know, actually goes to gamescom, we should make a shorter list, probably with a multi answer poll attached to it (so we can see wich questions the TESOF community wants to hear the most) to suggest it to the one guy who actually goes there.
so we might get some usefull answers.

Also we should identify all the questions we will definitly not get an answer about anyway, that beeing mostly anything concenring pickpocketing, kahjiit subraces, lore and the inner mechanics of the game (not meaning we cant ask anything about the combat system, but any questions about how Damage reduction will work and so on will most likeley not get an answer) same goes for anything that is still subject of change.

I was more thinking of printing them and handing them out and let them chose wich to answer, if any. We do not know what they can share and what not. So let them decide. Or maybe trying to get an interview and just asking every question, expecting "no comment" as the most given answer.

But maybe we get an unexpected answer to a question we would have sorted out, because we thought it wasn't important or wouldn't be answered anyway. So the more we got, the better the chances to actually get new information.

And definitely want to post it in the new forums, as soon as they come available, just to make a point there's more information needed. Shouldn't they have been answered by then.

i still think aproaching them with (a few) questions is probably a better idea than handing them a paper.
A more personal aproach might get more out of them. With a sheet they can just say "well we cant say much to anything of that"
Still they are very tight lipped anyway, one of the more important things of asking them personally is asking the question in such a way that its hard for them to answer with one of their stock phrases (just look at the other interviews we had so far, they always repeated the same things, sometimes they didnt answer the question at all and just pulled out an answer for a question that was never asked)

Awesome! Thanks for using my question. Just proof-read it, only one error: "Will a pure crafter be a viabel solution". Oh, and the word "boni" is used a couple of times. Correct plural on that is "bonuses".

Also, regarding NPC schedules, the GI article specifically said that there would be no Radiant AI. And finally, regarding Jeremy Soule, again, according to a GI article, Firor said "Uh… we're still working on that".

I do agree with Sordak though regarding Gamescon and any future events, handing over a printed list won't work. I think we should just choose 2-3 that are the most important.

Thanks for proof reading and good there ain't that many errors. I cannot edit my post anymore, that's only allowed within the first 60 minutes after posting.

And I went with the latin plural for bonus. But I can change it should this be too confusing, because it's not common to use it.

That we won't see Radiant AI was a given to me. That's just too much strain on the servers or too easy to hack/exploit when done by the client. But NPCs could be following scripted paths and behaviours to make them seem a little more alive.

You are probably right about handing out the list of questions. We could just mail them in that case. But I fear that the most interesting and important questions are those they won't answer.

Now if I could find and convince someone to sit down for a short interview to ask a "couple" of questions, I could just follow the list and ask away until they had enough of it.

Ah, it was worth a shot. But the outcome was to be expected. At least they have us now on their radar! And I find it telling, that she did not respond to my assumption of the release date in October referring to the new website rather than the game's release.

So a little over a month now, maybe we get a few answers then.

I was asking about any customization: what can we and what can't we do? All those things you named are part of the question really :)

where did you get that map from? seems rather specific are those towns from arena? (as there are quite a few i havent seen on the official maps yet)

as for a seamless world, well i dont think so honestly. I guess itll be largeley without loadscreens but im fairly sure that, between larger zones, there will be loadscreens.
