To Kill a Minotaur
Jo'Naar's Quest

It was a fair day in the West Weald and Jo'Naar, a Khajiit, walked composedly through the countryside. Though he thought it was unfortunate that the Great Forest did not stretch all the way to Nornalhorst. As a Dagi-raht, Jo'Naar made swift progress through the thick canopy, but in the West Weald the trees were too few for it to be practical. On the ground he was more vulnerable, but had already traveled quite some distance without incident.

Jo'Naar was traveling from the Imperial City, where he gave word of his quest to the inn keepers of the city. Jo'Naar was no fool either, he paid them some coin to make sure the word was spread. He was a medic and alchemist by trade, but this matter extended beyond those duties. Jo'Naar had witnessed sacrificing and summoning of undead outside Nornalhorst, an Ayleid ruin, during the night. This outraged Jo'Naar, as one who is trained in restoration. He would not stand for letting the necromancers go unchecked. From the innkeepers, Jo'Naar hoped enough like-minded adventurers would come to destroy the forces inside Nornalhorst.

It was now several hours since Jo'Naar had left the Great Forest. He pulled out his map and after studying it for a moment nodded his head. It was still a bit further, but it would not be long before he reached the ruins. Jo'Naar quietly whispered his thanks to Alkosh for the unhindered journey thus far and pressed on. However it was not long before a distant roar caught his attention. The noise seemed to come in the direction of Nornalhorst, which worried Jo'Naar. He tried not to let that upset the balance of the previously fair journey, but quickened his pace nonetheless.

Now that Jo'Naar had been walking very briskly; Nornalhorst was very close, though still out of sight. Since he had not heard anything since the first roar, Jo'Naar stopped to take a quick rest. He reach for his canteen, as the journey had left him quite parched. Jo'Naar found a tree to lean on for a few moments, letting his legs rest for a bit. Just as he was about to continue, there was a massive crashing noise that surely came from the ruin. Jo'Naar determinedly sprinted up the hill and saw the scene below. Two Khajiit and a massive Minotaur were battling in front of the ruins, though it looked like the Minotaur had the upper hand. Jo'Naar watched in horror as the beast's massive hammer crashed into the bigger of the two Khajiit, then again into his leg. Then the Minotaur began to turn towards the other Khajiit, who was struggling to stand.

Jo'Naar flew down the hill towards the warrior who was pounding the ground in anger. He threw the spear on the ground next to the warrior, who didn't take notice in his frustration. Now with both hands raised, Jo'Naar cast a powerful restoration spell on the warrior. It taxed his magika and he wouldn't be able to cast another r such spell for a while at least. However the warrior was now just as healthy as he had been when he awoke that morning. He looked up in astonishment at Jo'Naar who pointed at the spear.

“Throw it.”

Do'Shanji could barely believe what was happening as the restoration magic coursed through his body, relieving his pains. There was another Khajiit! Ha! never discount the Khajiit!! The medic pointed to the spear and Do'Shanji grabbed it and sprung up. Though not the best with ranged weaponry, Do'Shanji had thrown spears during his army training. He quickly recalled the proper form and launched the projectile, sending it sailing for the Minotaur. The glass tip of the spear stuck deep into the back of the creature and it howled out in pain, whipping around to charge. However it moved at a snail's pace and could go no faster.

“It won't last for long, hurry and take him down!” He heard the new Khajiit say.

Do'Shanji grabbed his sword and ran at the Minotaur. It tried swinging at him, but moved far too slowly to hit the warrior. Do'Shanji danced around the creature, hacking and slicing with his long sword, ripping and tearing with his free paw. Meanwhile Jo'Naar had rushed over to Fa'dul, helping him up and providing him relief with a lesser spell, which his magika would allow. Now the ranger continued his assault of arrows into the beast. He was a deadly marksman and consistently fired into the thick skull of the beast, allowing the warrior to deal his damage without worry of stray arrows.

The Minotaur would die now, that much was clear. However it still staggered around, lashing out with his hammer at the warrior. The slow effect of Jo'Naar's spear was wearing off as well. The beast clamored away to gain speed for a final charge. Do'Shanji tried to jump onto the back of the creature, but failed. He did manage to make a deep incision though. The Minotaur was losing blood at an unsustainable rate now. It turned around to try and pierce Do'Shanji in a final act of revenge, but found he had backed off. Instead the Minotaur was met with several arrows from Fa'dul and a fireball from Jo'Naar. That proved to be the end for the Minotaur lord, who collapsed in a bloody-scorched heap near the ruin's entrance.

The three Khajiit, all of different breeds, convened near the fallen opponent. All three stared at the smoldering heap of Minotaur lord, then looked at each other. There was silence for a brief moment, but soon the three burst out in laughter and greeted each other in the way that is common for Khajiit. For the rest of their days, the three would consider each other to be as close as brothers. They enjoyed each other's company for some time.

For Jo'Naar though, there was still unfinished business with Nornalhorst. When he shared his quest, Do'Shanji offered his assistance, which was gratefully accepted. Fa'dul had matters to attend in the Imperial City, so he regretfully had to decline. “Do not worry brother, we will meet again someday, Alkosh willing.” Jo'Naar reassured him. He also offered a way for Fa'dul to help them, by spreading word of their quest in the City to suitable adventurers. “Yes, yes of course, this one will gladly do that!” Fa'dul responded. He left them shortly after that, hoping to make it to the Imperial City before dusk.

“Well shall we enter these ruins then?” Do'Shanji inquired. Jo'Naar responded with a hearty laugh for his short size and spoke “No friend, others will be needed. They will come don't worry. Patience is needed for now.” Do'Shanji nodded and remained quiet, finding a place to clean and sharpen his blade. Jo'Naar looked off in the distance, hoping that his prediction would be correct and others would show up. It would take more than just the two of them to clear Nornalhorst.

Yeah that part will be done in an RP so that other people can join in. There is a planning thread for it in the RP discussion section, still room for another if you're interested.

A great finish like Do'Rakk the keyboard snapper said, that is what I shall call him from now on. I really like how you added this story into the RP and how you found an explanation for Fa'dul's absence in it, great stuff!
