What Hybrid Are YOU Rolling?

What will be YOUR Dream Hybrid of ESO?

(Hey all, Lokil here. Just to spur up some intellectual conversation here... what is your Dream Hybrid Class?

i.e. - Are you looking to take on the role of the decimating Battle-Mage, fitted with the armor of a Warrior while wielding Powers of the Arcane? Maybe your that Templar that likes to remain practically invisible to the enemy, sneaking whilst keeping the entire battle group alive. No matter what your tastes are, there are NO right or wrong entries here! Leave your thoughts in the comments and showcase your ideas to other 'Elder Scrolls' fans.

<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Typically, a hybrid class usually consists of...
  • Any established class that can be built upon or against --- in 'The Elder Scrolls Online', anything is possible! This would theoretically include classes like Mages, Archers, Warriors, Assassins, etc etc.
    >
  • ANY COMBINATION of collective 'skill sets', such as mastering the Arcane, achieving perfection in Thievery, succeeding in Assassinations, etc etc. For example, you could be a heavily armored behemoth that spurts out fireballs just 'cuz you feel like it.
    >
  • Weapon(s) of choice. For example, you could be a mage, but if bashing skulls with a hammer the size of a mammoth seems to be your fetish, then by all means bash away!
    >
  • Armor of choice. Again, anyone in the game can have armor that weighs more than a giant if they so wish it; however, if walking slower than a snail isn't your forte, then feel free to utilize a lighter form of protection --- maybe some Leather? Cloth for the mages? The possibilities are endless... take your pick.
    >
  • Primary Attribute, Secondary Attribute, Tertiary Attribute. I'm talking about those three regenerating bars that can turn the tides of a battle with the blink of an eye. The real question here is, What are you planning to excel in the most, and vice versa?
    >
  • For all of my fellow Roleplayers out there, feel free to include a piece of your backstory, IC appearance, etc etc.
    >
  • Feel anything is missing? Add your own little piece to the puzzle! Don't hesitate to write more, or even less for that matter, than what I've listed so far. These are mere guidelines, not shackles nor chains.
<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

V V V In any case, let me state MY hybrid below V V V

Keep in mind, I'm an Avid Roleplayer... thus, a LOT of what you'll see below also contributes to my character's backstory, RP, appearance, etc etc.

EDIT! - Please, if you are pressed for time or really don't care much for reading (Rather unusual for the typical 'Elder Scrolls' junkie, but reading nonetheless isn't for everyone!), I HIGHLY suggest that you either skim or skip past my basic idea of my dream hybrid, and instead encourage you to just list your own hybrid, if you feel obliged to do so.

For General Purposes, whether I am exploring the glacial peaks of Skyrim or the war-torn fortresses of Cyrodiil, AND whether I'm by my lonesome or alongside my Shield-Brethren, I plan to use...
  • Epic Two-Hander, ICly will be called 'Duskbringer' (Leaning towards a double-edged sword.)
    >
  • 'Medium Armor', maybe some sort of leathery/iron garb, and definitely with a horned helm... Just gotta love 'em horned helms!
    >
  • Shield/One-Hander (Definitely a sword) for those epic battles in Cyrodiil, of course in the name of the Ebonheart Pact. A shield just seems realistic since blocking is said to be a major factor in the PvP AND PvE systems, which are said to be intertwined in some unorthodox fashion, as it will theoretically be able to migitate the damage you take and the amount of arrows that pierce your metaphorical hide, among other things. DON'T even get me started on how that will help warrior PvPers like myself a thousand times over against classes with ranged, and often destructive casting capabilities that mages seem to acquire in nearly EVERY MMORPG. (In another and rather hopeful future thread, I'd like to address how abilities such as being able to simply raise your shield or throw out a Spell Ward, which in turn contribute to the real-time combat system, are innovative and completely revolutionary for MMORPGs, and why you'll be able to count me among the thousands upon thousands that plan to purchase this game.... am I ranting? My apologies! :p)
    >
  • Anyways, Restoration Magic will be a huge thing for me. (I'm sure I will implement that into my charactar's backstory somehow... maybe ancestral Nordic healing remedies? It's a work in progress, as you can see.)
    >
  • High Stamina, Moderate Health, Minimal Magic. 'Tis the way of the Nords, you see.
    >
  • ICly, my character isn't going to be a big hero. That ruins the fun for me in MMOs, but by all means, if meta-gaming is your thing, then don't let my opinions stop you. Lokil the Dragonheart (Though the 'Dragonheart' part of the name will probably be 'earned' by Lokil sometime later in the game, as I basically level him and perfect my class; therefore, he'll be known primarily as Lokil. :p) will be your typical Nord, brandishing a passion for battle and a love of mead, a fire for women and a hatred of those who attempt to steal his mead (I'M LOOKING AT YOU THIEVES! >:|).... though the similarities stop there. I'll leave it at that for now, I do realize that I'm nearly completely off-topic. Bare with me, people!
    >
  • I'll definitely be looking for some bear pelt-style armor for Lokil, because Nords + Bear-Suit = Badassocity; however, unless this fits my criteria of 'Medium Armor', then it's a no-go for large-scale battles in Cyrodiil. Probably best to just implement its use as a Roleplaying Set, really.
    >
  • Overall, I'm not really looking to have an 'over-weight tank' that can barely lift his gauntlet (Figuratively speaking, of course. I'm basically trying to say that I don't like being slow. :p), nor do I want a 'thief/assassin-type stealthie' that uses the lightest armor in order to 'maximize sneakiness', etc etc. I'm attempting to build a character in that 'perfect median', being able to dish out some considerable amount of damage to the said heavy tanks while essentially 'kiting' them from a distance (Trust me, this combat-style may seem cowardly, but it's been used innumerous times throughout history... AND it works. :p), whereas I'm not recieving the same edge of the swordpoint if the said 'thieves/assassins' attempt to pull off similar tactics on myself...
    >
  • However, since I have no real insight whether a class of 'Medium Armor' even exists in the 'Elder Scrolls' saga, I'll settle for heavier forms of protection... or I'll find a loophole, trust me. ^_^
    >
  • On a side note, and rather a very important side note indeed, I'm aiming to mold Lokil into a barbaic Viking-style warrior, at least appearance-wise. He'll sport the generic scar across one half of his face, along with the trademark warpaint EVERY self-respecting warrior should have; and to top it all off, RED HAIR! A warrior's hairstyle, braided with ceremonial beads and whatnot, along with a beard! Ladies love the beards, am I right guys? No? Okay.
<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

ANYWAYS, those were just some thoughts. Feel free to 'borrow' some of these ideas, I certainly don't lay any claim to them as I've pretty much 'borrowed' from other class builds as well. Please, allow me to enthrall myself in your own ideas by listing them in the comments below. I am truly eager to see the creative genius of others!)

<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Sincerely Yours,

Lokil

EDIT! - I do acknowledge that a lot of the information that has been concieved in this thread is and has probably been known to the vast majority of you who planned to roll hybrids. I'm just superbly bored... waiting it out for ESO to throw out its Beta. ALTERNATIVELY, this particular thread could also serve as a guide to those who are doing research on ESO for whatever reason. Enjoy! :p

Probably something as close as I can get to my Morrowind Dunmer

Marksman, two handed sword, medium armor, restoration, alteration, illusion, mystecism and conjuration (depending on what they include with the game). Probably dabble in alchemy and enchant as well.

Sword in one hand, destruction spell in the other. And then some medium and light armor.

I'm thinking about making an assassin based character with Light armor, Daggers for sneaky attacks, Sword for all the other fights and some Illusion spells (calm or the one that muffles your movement).

Well, I'm hoping to RP a priest and also want a healer for pve.
So, lots of restoration and maybe some mysticism spells, probably a one hand sword/mace and shield.
Not sure on the armour yet, will wait and see what it loooks like but would like to wear the heavy :)

I've already picked the Templar as the class I'm going to play. It falls in line with my preferred playstyle of tank/support. I suppose you could label that as a hybrid.

I totally want my Jack-of-all-trades rogue, that means no marksman who is total crap at melee nor a rogue who's only ranged ability is a shitty throwing knife. That means a hunter with a bow as well as swords and daggers. Gimme dat.

I love healing/supporting in multiplayer games. Heck, when I started playing Dragon Age Origins (finally got it during the steam winter sale ^_^) I made my character a healer/supporter with minimal offence till later levels. The entire game is making sure everyone else can kill things without dieing and with buffs. You could call me a cross between a bard and a healer. Typically bards are support classes and don't do the world's greatest dps. My hybrid of choice therefore would be a restoration mage with some bard attributes. Like maybe I could wear light armor like leather and wield a one handed mace while casting healing spells. That'd be a lot of fun.

i'm playing an argonian tank/conjurer hybrid. my character lives in skyrim so the heavy armor helps him retain what little heat he has, still trying to think of an RP reason for the summoning though.

Dunmer Stealth Mage? You would be surprised how effective it was in Skyrim.

In games where it's a possibility I always tend to go for the melee DPS/support kind of role, like the Bear Shaman in AoC and Guardian in Guild Wars 2. Really excited to see what I can go for in TESO. Probably going to mix it up with some bow & arrow as well. Oh, and light/medium armor!

Clothes for me, fancy ones at that. All I need is a spell for my armor (mage armor, not summoning the heavy shit as that could mess up my threads), a spell for my shield, and a spell for my sword.

And I'm good to go. By go, I of course mean rape EVERYTHING in a dps frenzy.

I guess Spellsword would be the best name to describe my class, although it takes the combination of spell and sword a bit more literally than what you might usually expect.

A strong arm to slay the weak.

An iron heart that knows no fear.

And a foul mouth to boast about it!

Such are the virtues of the pact!

All hail Vehk and his Buoyant Armigers!

I really want to stray towards a tank n' spank heavy armour build. I want to keep it close to a templar/paladin build that was very viable in Skyrim. So that means focusing on Healing and alteration spells. A Nord is perfect for this setup, so heavy armour becomes very viable!

A sort of paladin class. Very unfitting Paladin=Good knight and being a dark elf. Heavy armor, sword and shield and restoration.
