We know that TESO will indeed have classes, but we don't know anything much more specific than that yet. But talking about classes as seen in most MMOs/RPGs, which do you normally play?

A rogue, or maybe a mage?

Interresting Question because i just asked myself the same one.

So we know there will be 5 classes. And its pretty safe to assume its going to be along the lines of: Warrior, Thief, Mage, Ranger and Cleric (Dispite cleric never beeing a role that TES has ever had alot of. Neither do they fall into the classic DnD cleric or MMO priest category. And most priests are in fact not mages. Restoration is regulary meant as part of the mages class, but for the sake of MMO gameplay i expect there to be some of that)

And i cannot tell. Its either a Warrior, a thief or a Ranger. Now dont get me wrong i know exactly what character i want to play. I want to play a Claymore wielding light Armoured Warrior. I just dont know wich class is best suited for that. Since every class can wield any weapon, i supose it is the class specific skills then (and wether or not they work with the weapon) i highly suspect the ranger to have, at least a dual wielding melee option.
And i suspect that the Warrior will not be good with anything but heavy Armor, wich may limit my mobility (even tho i highly doubt it in an MMORPG. But i like dodging around alot)
While i like myself to be a controll roll im defintily not a fan of the classic "tank" and iwont strive to achieve it. I just hope i can play a controll oriented greatsword wielding bastard that cripples his foes and bashes them into the dirt. While dodging around like a whirlwind of steel.

Spellsword here, so I guess a warrior/mage combination. If I have to go with one only, I'll choose warrior.

Full on warrior, as always. None of that fancy magic.

Ok maybe some restoration on the side ;P

And enchanting come to think of it...

There is traditionally a Healer class that focuses on restoration, alchemy and the like; it wasn't all that useful for the single-player games (it appeared in all four that had classes), but now that we've got a multiplayer game it can actually be a proper option.

Count only the happy hours.

im not talking about a healer class, more prominentley im talking about the idea of a healer class beeing, traditionally in western fantasy settings beeing tied to faith among other things.
Stuff like "White mages" tend to appear more in eastern works, like the early final fantasy games.

Do you have a source where it is said, that there will be 5 classes?
Would be interesting to know.

Warrior/Knight Tank.

As far as I'm aware ZOS hasn't talked about classes at all, besides the fact that they are in.

We can assume the basic class archetypes that are always in TES will likely make a return warrior/ranger/mage/thief/assassin. We'll just have to wait and see though as I wouldn't be surprised if ZOS took an interesting twist to classes and how they function.

Warrior Tank without a doubt.
No fun in it if you aren't right in the middle of all the fighting. :P

Yeah where is this five classes coming from? Is five a bit scant or is it just me? I would not be surprised if there was a twist on the classes that chose from common roles in TES that mix/break up the trinity, ie mer battlemages, human priests with daedric and divine skill trees, bosmer/beast race tribesmen who utilize steath and range, etc

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if ZOS took a new, innovative approach to classes that have appeared in TES. It certainly would compliment their system and what exactly they want to do. Hopefully ZOS will actually announce the classes in the game at some point.

I would really be surprised if they didn't take a new approach to the classes, see as they are doing the same to every thing else.
