I can't speak for everyone but, personally, I just don't see it as an appealing class.

Sure, it provides an alternative way of healing without a staff or potion and that's great for group play but the Templar's Skills just don't appeal to me all that much, which is odd considering that I like to play the support character and the Templar is great for that.

A lot of people are going to play as a templar, just remember the class means barely anything, I know for a fact I probably wont end up using class specific abilities no matter which class I end up using.

I honestly wouldn't play as a templar simply because I don't do well as a healer in MMO's. I'd be leaning more towards Nightblade or Dragonknight, but that's just my play style.

Class does not have any impact on your play style in this game, Its merely a platform to build your own unique build off.

Nightblades and Dragonknights can also be healers.

I'm just saying that I would use Nightblade or DragonKnight simply because of the skill boosts. I know they're a platform, because I'm more of an elder scrolls player than an MMO player. Ever played Oblivion? They had classes, and you'd use the one that best fit your play style.

Both Oblivion and Morrowind had pre-made classes in which you did not have to pick one, you had the option of creating your own.
This system was ditched and replaced in Skyrim with a system that evolved based of how you actually played, but however was unfortunately limited.

The classes in TESO create familiarity for MMO players without elderscrolls background, instead of throwing them in the end. It also creates distinct differences in low levels, however the higher level you become the less it matters.

I'm not trying to tell you how to pick what you want to be or how to play it, I am only trying to make sure that you know you are not bound by regular restrictions, as it is a common misconception.
