Will ESO fail?

This is something that I am seriously worried about. Pretty much every new mmo has so much hype for it before release and if it isn't WoW, it either gets less subscriptions than intended or many people quit the game a few months after launch. Now I really want ESO to sustain for at least as long as WoW has and for that the game needs to be fun, different and have longevity. You could say that the game looks like it has all those things, but so did other mmos that have failed. I would like to hear what you all think of the possibility of this game failing.

i dont think we need this topic.
its pointless.
Its like saying "were all going to die anyway, lets just not bother to live"

speculating on the failure of a game is exactly the job of one person nameley the one sitting at the publishers desk wondering if they should finance it.

we as a community should help and give the developers feedback so it wont fail.

I believe that when the developers speak of what WOW and other MMOs had done they intended to try and appeal those people as well, though I think I'd like it more if the people in the game weren't only interested in PVP & Raids, but maybe that is simply my ignorance showing when it comes to a perception of mmos from someone who only plays single player. [/run on sentence]

Either way, I know I'll be subscribing as I am a serious fan of games/books/lore Elder Scrolls

It's kind of the point of the topic; discussing what the devs can do so it doesn't fail.

It depends on the players. I've seen F2P games last just as long as WoW. Sure, it may not be as popular, but it won't become extinct. There's a lot of people excited for ESO, and there's a lot of ES veterans who are excited as well. I doubt Zenimax or Bethesda will cancel it just because it isn't anything like World of Warcraft.

I understand Gondi concerns, and agree with Sordak. Its a bit early to be speaking of what some call a 'Fail"

To me and this is just my point of view - A game success is determined by 2 factors
1# the Community
2# the game support.

This is why WOW is claimed to be a huge hit, I don't play WOW, but from listening to others that do, the community is helpful to each other, this generates new members and keep old ones. The game support is responsive- this keeps the community happy and players feel like they are getting what they pay for and the game thrives.

I think we will see this here.
As to being a WOW competitor or "killer" I don't care. As long as the basic #2 are met the game will be a success and we will have fun.

See it is dining out. Every one goes to Macdonalds but you would not eat there all the time if you have a refined palette and want to avoid obesity. Variety is the spice of life and plenty will dine at "TESO".
TESO will draw fans of rpg, console players, and any one who has played any Elder Scrolls games. Also the number of global mmorpg players is steadily expanding and maturing plus having more leisure time/better taste while a five year production in which Zenimax are amalgamating all the best elements of mmorpg gaming with superior aspects of console technology will not "fail".
I cannot comment on WOW as I don't eat at "Macdonalds" but I do know a good restaurant when I see one from over 30 years of experience.

Nailed it.

This includes everything from racial seperation, less than 100% map exploration and no world pvp.

i blame lazy people like you for killing PvP in wow.

I blame your stupid ganking for the terrible PvP scene in any other MMO.
I blame your weakness on the fact that you cannot find a proper oponent anymore.

get out of my way milk-drinker if you want to have an effortless win, youll have a bad day, because once you set foot on cyrodiil, ill be after you. and ill raise your head on a stake.
For i am a proper PvP player. and i know how to fight an enemy that has no disadvantage.

and i will fight you, and i tell you one thing. i will win. because im better than you, and youll be there in the dust. Time and time again.
Probably youll change your mind about unfair fights once ive crushed you a few times.

Thing is Sordak how can you hunt someone in cyradil when they run with their faction ZERG group lol you cant. stop acting like one player will have influence in the instanced pvp zone of cyradil when we all know it will just be a blatent ZERG fest 24/7.

i know i did that in other games.
if you run with the zerg thats you beeing bad.

what im ususally doing is setting up sieges with my guild and break down the walls so once the zerg arives they can take it over while were already on our way to the next objective.t aking keeps away from enemies and taking a zerg from behind and slaughter their squishies hit and run style. we did all of these things and it works suprisingly well if you got a coordinated team.

and thats what Pvp is all about.

Not to mention you still couldnt name anything positive about open world PvP that isnt blatant theorycrafting or even worse, nonsense.
