Your thoughts: 'Future plans, news articles & frontpage view.'

Hello everyone,

I'm a little bit curious as to the future plans for TESOF, what roles the fansite aims to fill, so on and so forth. The 'F' in TESOF definitely points towards the fansite being a forum first and foremost.

However, what is your thought on replacing the current frontpage (tesof.com) with a news- & articles-related frontpage. In other words, sort of combining the world of TESO-related news & articles together with the warmth of a fully fledged community & forum. Or do you prefer that TESOF is focusing more on preserving the community-feel.

Think, MMORPG.com, MMO-champion.com, GuildWars2guru.com, etc. (for examples of what I'm trying to convey here.)

I'm not saying one way is better than the other, just sort of thinking out loud here. :)

What are your thoughts?

Quick edit: Funny thing, I just noticed the "Recent article:" area above all of the forum sections. It's a good idea, but the fact that I just noticed it right now and not earlier speaks in volumes regarding the very design of it. I'd personally prefer if it was a little bit more noticeable. What if you had a custom designed banner for each news article or something of that sort?

We actually had a Scroll as the latest article banner up at the top, but I asked for a size too small, so it gets redundant when featuring longer article titles. I'm trying to think of a solution that will make it more noticeable, but also more dynamic than it was before.

We're focusing on the forum as the main part of the site, which is why every section is actually built directly from the forum software itself. The articles section should definitely have a little more prominence once the news is steadily rolling out, however.

As for what the TESOF community truly is and is trying to become: a fully community-driven fan site that focuses on collaboration. This is why each section also accepts anyone to submit content to them (though the Articles section will be reserved solely for Writers in the future), and why the forum is our "base of operations", essentially. While I try to do as much as I can, I'm only one person and I highly doubt that I would be able to keep this site running without you guys. All of the staff are voluntary, of course, and each of them have been recruited from within the community itself.

Allright, I'll make sure make a suggestion if I happen to come up with an idea. (If that's ok.)

Fair enough, it seems like you've given this some thought. Thanks for taking the time to reply. 8)
