The Khajiit are a beastfolk living in the south-eastern desert province of Tamriel, Elsweyr. Their origins are debated among scholars. Some hold that they are originally of elven stock, mainly because a sub-species of Khajiit, the Ohmes-Raht, strongly resembles an elf.

However the epic poem Father of the Niben, about the voyages of the early Aldmeri explorer Topal the Pilot, mentions 'cat-demons' when describing Elsweyr ...

The Altmer, or High Elves, are an elven race inhabiting the Summerset (also called Sumurset) islands in the south-west of Tamriel. 'Altmer' means cultured people and they see themselves as the most civilised culture of Tamriel.

This belief is not unjustified as much of Tamriel's arts of civilisation come from the Altmer. They taught other races writing, law, science and craftsmanship and to this day Altmer influence can be seen in cultures throughout the continent ...

The Aedra and Daedra. Each name conjures distinctive images to the average citizen of the Empire; the Aedra are worshiped as benevolent gods in the form of the Eight Divines and the Daedra are spurned in these modern years by the average Imperial, their veneration continued mostly in secret or in far-flung hideaways away from civilization. Some had been formed by the blood of Anu, whose name varies by culture. Others were born of the blood of Padomay, or as he is occasionally called, Sithis.

I hope this article proof to be helpful for those new to the series and its lore.
