So tell me, are you going to be playing in 3rd person or 1st person? Because here I see two predicaments being that 1. you can play it in 1st and enjoy it as you did in Oblivion or Skyrim with depth and detail or 2. in 3rd person like in most MMORPGs such as WoW where you have more situational awareness. And if it's not too much to ask for and its not breaking NDA, beta testers what did/do you prefer?

both.

i use 3rd person 3/4 of the time, for combat, talking with NPCs and general exploration.

i would use first person if im feeling like gettign a closer look to detail. but in all actuality, this isnt the first mmo to have a first person option, just the first to incorporate all combat mechanics in it such as the dodge and seeing weapons on screen. with that being said, even the games with first person options, i didnt tend to use them

I use both depending on what, if im using a bow, im for sure in first person, but as a melee, I need to be able to see 360 degree's.
I also enjoy seeing my character.

Third as you get a better perspective.

I voted both.
No wait... I didn't for some reason.

Anyway, firing a bow from 3rd was certainly not an issue so it's perfectly viable in any situation. I will still be mostly in 1st because it adds a sense of action to combat and greater immersion in general.

first person for sure..think it gives better immersion, you dont have eyes in the back of your head,to know if someones behind you you have to turn round to look.plus that what surround sound helps with..

Gotta agree, first person immersion is intense, especially on the battlefield. I cant help myself.
I would love to see this game with surrounding monitors so you get a full view to your left and right.

I don't id ever leave my seat, id order food from and in-game mod id have to develop.

Both, which for some reason isn't an option...

I understand this sentiment however:

i've played first person games in which i was getting attacked from behind and it took me entirely too long to realize this was happening. so i get the immersion argument however, this only implies with the full use of your senses. you dont have eyes in the back of your head but you can FEEL getting hit from behind. In video games you cant feel.

so because of this i must prefer 3rd person over 1st.

I guess there is an edge consoles will have on PC's vibration in the controller = You can feel that you are getting hit.. in the palm!

this is true to an extent. but i imagine the same issue would occur. the vibration would signal that you are being hit, but not where, much like the screen reddening around the edges to inform you of the damage you are taking but not in which direction

The only low budget solution is to have somebody watching on another screen and they club you behind the ear when somebody does in-game.

I started playing Skyrim in 3rd, but eventually switched to 1st and never went back. It just wouldn't feel as much like a TES game in 3rd person. It usually take me long to find attackers thanks to the arrows they gave me, so it wasn't really a gameplay problem for me. The only time it became an issue was when I was running away from an enemy and wasn't sure if they were still behind me, but didn't dare risk stopping and turning to check.
