If you haven't already seen this video you really should! Not just because it points out all the things that make TESO better and WoW worse, but also because this guy shares a bunch of things that a lot of us probably never knew about the upcoming game. Seriously watch it! A lot of cool features in TESO that I definitely never knew.

Check it out! Thumbs_up

DISCLAIMER: This is not my video, I just happened to stumble upon it Monday night, and thought it was interesting. I am NOT fishing people to my youtube channel as there is nothing to fish you in for. Thanks.

As a former WoW player I have this to say about his points.

1. ESO is a beautiful game but so is WoW in it's own cartoony way, especially when the graphics settings aren't set on low, some zones look a little old but the newer ones look like this on the highest setting.

2. WoW doesn't have good first-player perspective because it's designed to be played in third person.

3. WoW makes it so you can only interact with objects when they have a good use to besides just giving the player a wheel of cheese.

4. WoW does have the occasional book here and there that provide the player with lore, you can't pick them up and read them whenever you want though. Also in Mists of Pandaria there are dozens of various things in the world you can read and get a copy of in one convenient place after you find them in the world.

5. Some quests are better than others, I would go into more detail but it's been several months since I last played WoW, but I can say that there are still fun quests in WoW, some that even involve killing X amount of NPCs.

6. WoW uses voice acting when needed for scenes, and the quest dialogue can be worth the read if you want to make the effort.

7. I don't know much about ESO traps but if they're like the Skyrim ones, then yea it's neat thing for exploring dungeons, but while WoW doesn't have it you still have to pay attention to your surroundings in fights in case a group of additional mobs appear during the boss fight and you have to kill them or the boss can use an aoe attack that will kill you if you don't move out of the aoe radius before it's done casting it.

8. Exploring for the sake of it is the only reason needed, also the achievements are nice.

9. WoW is more convenient because it's not hard to look up what you need then either buy it from the auction house or farm it yourself which takes a while then do all the crafting in bulk. For ESO I'm going to guess that the multiple results will still use similar resources to craft so you can still look up a guide to get an educated guess at how much you will need to get your crafting leveled to max asap.(Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about the crafting, I don't know much about ESO's crafting.)

10. Sounds a lot like WoW's auction house but more spread out and a bigger hassle to find the cheapest price and what items you exactly want.

11. ESO mounts sound neat, and the only using horses suits a more serious series like the Elder Scrolls series, but in WoW your mounts never need food, they're always there for you at a moments notice, they won't tire out and will use their maximum speed at all times, and there's just so much fun variety for a sillier game like the World of Warcraft.

12. Rofl l2p noob. *Ahem* What I meant to say is that while yes there are plenty of skills on the bottom you need to pay attention to, the more the play the less you need to pay attention to it because you know what you need to press without looking down from practice, as for the interface, that can be changes with some of the many addons that help you customize the UI to your liking. And before you say it, yes I know there are going to be addons that will do the same thing in ESO.

13. That's because stealth is the rogue's thing in WoW and is a layer of protection that rogues can use to single out opponents and take them down one by one while other classes will have other strategies, in ESO class doesn't matter as much since everyone has the potential to be a jack of all trades.

14. In WoW there is some flexibility as to what you can do with each class with the different specializations which you can have two of. ESO will have some nice flexibility like in all of their games, but it makes class choice only a minor thing.

15. In WoW the mouse is also useful for selecting targets, and changing the camera angle is still very useful. Also two different gameplay styles for two different games are good, it will also keep ESO from being a "WoW clone" but at the same time won't attract the players who prefer WoW's combat system.

16. In WoW if one of your spells or abilities is on cooldown, you use a different ability that isn't on cooldown, if you get your ability pattern right you won't have to worry about small cooldowns, and with the large cooldowns you have to think and make sure you don't waste them because if you do, you're going to have to wait a while and perhaps miss the perfect opportunity to use it.

17. In WoW you get rewarded for playing the game right by successfully killing the bosses and getting their loot. Also I have no idea what he said in the last part of that segment.

18. Armour restrictions in WoW, is actually a good thing at times because if you're a mage in a dungeon group with no other cloth-wearing classes, you can be sure that you can get any piece of cloth gear that drops, of course it has it's downsides where cloth gear drops when the group has no cloth-wearing classes in it. I can't say something about the ESO on this subject because I don't know how looting it works but I think it will either be like Guild Wars 2 where everyone get's some loot for themselves or like WoW where a couple pieces of loot drop with each boss and the players have to roll against eachother to get the piece of gear.

19. I don't know much about WoW PvP so I can't say much, but since one bad person can be painful to the team, doesn't that make you feel more special when you PvP in a small group rather than in just a massive zerg rush where you are only one of many?

20. This would be a valid point but when there is a zone that doesn't have many players in many servers, it puts all the players together on a cross-realm server and they can make it so you can make cross-realm groups so you can get a friend on a different server to come onto your realm and fight side-by-side with him/her, or you could make alts together on one of the servers and have fun leveling up together.

21. The Elder Scrolls series is amazing and very successful, but World of Warcraft is a huge and successful game with millions of players, it has 10 years of content and some great lore, sure they screw the story up occasionally(I'm looking at you Uldum, you could've been so much more), but it's still a fun game and cannot be killed by Elder Scrolls Online because the two games are too different to attract all of the players who like WoW's style of gameplay and story more than Elder Scrolls Onlines, there is enough space on the interwebs for both.

tl;dr: Elder Scrolls Online is too different from WoW to be able to replace it.

I have never played WoW. When it came to MMO's I played L2 and LOTRO for many years.

When it came to RPG's there was only ever one choice, Elder Scrolls.

I don't think you can compare ESO to anything else out there. This is an Elder Scrolls game made into an MMO.

Will ESO crush WoW? No.

Will ESO fail? No.

It is a game in it's own league. Nothing came close to beating Elder Scrolls, it just kept getting better and better and ESO is a natural progression of the game. Now we can enjoy Elder Scrolls together as an MMO. This is something everyone has wanted for a long time.

There was a thread just like this a week back:

It has sunk to page 3, and for a GOOD REASON.

Now people please, stop trying to fish subscribers to your youtube channels by using this topic as a bait.

Haha, thats not my youtube channel, i just happened to find it on youtube last night and found it interesting. And you guys are right, Wow, is a great game and you're right it is beautiful in it's own way. The problem is I think people are comparing TESO to WoW way too much and expect it to either completely out-do WoW, but truth is even if TESO doesn't, it will still be an excellent game worth playing and will definitely do really well either way.

And maybe if you had read my profile you would have known I'm not a thirty year old guy with a middle eastern accent as in the video.

Just might have been a dead giveaway I wasn't "fishing" for people.

Looks like another video that says how much better ESO is than WoW while completely discounting the fact that WoW is over a decade old and try tries to discredit WoW (Wow is a great MMO, get over it). He lists reasons that while most of them very opinionated and arguable aren't convincing that ESO will be the "WoW killer". Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing ESO, I havent been this excited for a game in a very long time, but I doubt a single game will be able to "destroy" WoW. Why? The playerbase. Yes the player base can be at times the worst kind of people on earth, but you have to give them credit in their loyalty. They are effing dedicated, and I really doubt ESO is going to change that.

Will ESO crush WoW? Don't hold your breath. That doesn't mean ESO will fail either by any means, unless your bar of success is making more money than WoW, which if it is, you are retarded

I dont care if it beat WoW because it will do me no good. I just want the game to be healthy, that I care more then beating WoW.

Seconded.

And addendum, please don't mention WoW and "good game" or "great game" in the same sentence, it's just not true. It's a Frankenstein of a lot of games and will never be anything else than a stolen concept, imo.

Isn't Elder scrolls like really much older?

WoW is WoW, and WoW players aren't gonna move over in waves. I played enough to get a leveled toon and get kicked out of several groups cuz I wasn't leet enough. If I wanna go back to high school I'll go back to high school.

I liked LOTRO because it seemed like it was more adult and more lore. If ESO is following in the same direction, they will get the grown-ups (literally and figuratively) and WoW will keep the mean girls

Why does it matter how the two games compare? Preference is the only legitimate answer to that question. TESO will be my first mmo as I am stricly a console gamer and I can tell you from experience in many walks of life that comparison is fruitless when attempted in this manner. The simple fact of the matter is that video games are very much a form of art, and art is arbitrary in that it will only ever reflect the opinion of those that perceive it. I never played WoW (or any mmo for that matter) but there are many that have and loved it. So who cares how it compares to TESO or TESO to it. We should only hope that the developers of TESO look to its predecessors as building blocks and focus inwards to develop the best possible product they can offer their fans. So far it looks like it will be an amazing and long-lasting experience.

PS. Anyone have a link to info about the finesse system, I would like to know more about if I could

It is not that I lack loyalty, in fact it is one of my stronger traits. It just seems that I have a much deeper, more poignant sense of betrayal.

Ok, i only posted this because i thought what they had to say about ESO was cool, and yeah I didn't want to start an argument, not compare the two games.
