Hello everyone,

Okay, my fiance is buying me a gaming rig and no, this isn't about parts or how the pc can handle it. ^_^ The thing is that I am giving him my laptop to play ESO on and I am playing ESO on the new rig. My digital copy is downloaded on the laptop and I really don't want to uninstall it because his internet connection couldn't handle the 20g+ download.

My question is that if I get him an account and get him a copy of the game, can I download it onto the rig at my place with the better connection and have him keep my copy so he doesn't have to download it? Would it just be an IP code verification to get things in line or will this work?

Thank you in advance!

There is no need to uninstall, the "install" is not account-specific. However the server does record your computer credentials (when you enter the game using your account credentials), so when you log in (attempt) on another computer you will need to enter a code that they send to the e-mail associated with the account. This code is instance-specific, if you close and try later a new e-mail is generated with a different number code. Once you do that, you can log on to that account from either computer without a "code" - just one computer at a time though. We have done this ourselves. Also, the download can be done without creating the new account, just go to the account on elderscrollsonline.com/account and click on the download link from any computer. But most ppl prefer to only install the launcher, and when the launcher starts downloading a big download (multi-GB) close it and manually transfer the files from one computer to the other. Restarting the launcher afterward verifies them and checks for more updates automatically. FYI.

Skyrim conquerer. Morrowind and Oblivion vet. Long-time single-player computer gamer W/custom-made hi-perf OCd PC. Mostly RTS and a few action games.
Noob to MMOs.
Crappy satellite Internet very laggy pings 700-1000 not god for gaming, can't play most online games but ESO works good enough.

There's no need to uninstall, thankfully. The download isn't account-specific so he can play on your old laptop with the client already installed. When he logs into his account for the first time on the laptop, they will send him an email to make sure he isn't someone who hacked his account and playing on a different computer. You will also have to do this the first time you try to log on using your new gaming rig. After that first time though I don't think either of you will need to type in any more codes since I think ZOS stores all of the verified computers/IPs in their database.
