In Honor of the Adventurers of Tamriel,

You have been cordially invited to celebrate in a most spectacular event, The Moon's Carnival. You have been specifically chosen among many of which will not be granted this letter.A small gem that is placed in this letter is to be dropped into a bowl of water. This will create a doorway of sorts, that will take you directly to the front gate of the carnival by following the trail and small lanterns. You will be expected to stay for several hours the first night until you will be given another stone to return you back the following evening to another location; the same will go with the third night. You should arrive a fortnight from receiving this letter with the small purple stone that is accompanied with it.
On the evening of the first night you will be asked to attend a Masquerade that will be held under the a full moon. We ask that you wear appropriate formal attire and that you use your imagination to hide your true identity. The second evening will be a festival of drinks, art, and music. In this night we ask that you remained masked and that your attire is that of which you choose in celebration of the creature of Nirn. The last night will be a test of sorts and will be disclosed after the second night and you will be all unmasked; by then I am sure some of you will know one another. The last night will be a test and with that a prize will be given to three of the people attending that are deemed worthy.

WE Look forward to seeing you in this time of peace,

Sincerely,
S & S

The words seemed cryptic of sorts as I read them. This was alluring, but just as much questionable due to myself only used to fighting for my life. I read the lines over again twirling the gem in my hand."S & S," I said to myself as I tried to think of anyone with the names S & S.

"Do you know of any Lord or Lady that goes by S&S?" I looked at my handmaiden who was tiding up my bed while I sat before my reflection glass looking the letter over. She shook her head and walked over by my side.
"I haven't heard of two lords or ladies that have gone by S & S in my lifetime." She spoke between her sharp teeth. It was nice to be home again with the woman who was practically my mother. She may be a handmaiden but her opinion was law in my eyes for she raised me more than my own mother.

It was morning and this letter was delivered to me right from the start; I was still in a night robe that kept me warm at night and in the cold mornings. I was gathering myself and just going over this letter until I let it fall upon my vanity and placed the stone on the weathered scroll. My hair hung at my sides, down my back; and I had sometime before I decided if I wanted to attend this event. It had been some time since I had let myself but what sort of magic was involved in this. I would come back to it but for now I wanted a bath and to hopefully wake up before I met with an old friend later that day.

"Interesting..." Azzanadra said as he stared at the letter delivered to him on the first rays of the sun. It had been the first time ever that someone had sent him a letter, especially one such fellow as mysterious as it was. Not to mention as to how that man or woman had ever acquired his whereabouts when he was moving about all the time. He was on route to the Summerset Isles to meet with Danaris just like he promised since to celebrate that he had no longer amnesia and remembered everything, thanks to Alator, Danaris, and many of his old friends.

"Hmm... I will keep this a secret... I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone." Azzanadra said with a chuckle. He placed the letter inside his pocket, along with the stone that was on it. He was more lively and cheerful than his brooding self. It was also at that time that he had resigned from the assassin world and decided to become a merchant and being a mercenary at the same time to protect his wares. He was sitting on his carriage, and his lazy horse was lying down on the streets, sleeping. He looked behind to see that his goods were still there. He was selling trinkets he came across in his adventures. He found a golden, delicate, and intricate necklace for Danaris today so he would give it to her when he arrived at her house.

He whipped his rope binds on the horse as he said, "Masyaf, we must get going." The horse, swatting its ears, slowly got up like it was a snail. He named the horse his dead dog's name because he still wanted to remember the good times he had with his companion. He whipped the horse into action and it started on a trot slowly down on the road of the Summerset Isles. He was still wearing his Assassin garb since it's for protection but his hood was open this time, revealing his face. The curse of sunlight he had before was long gone so he didn't need to hide from the sun anymore.

"I wonder if Danaris would like it." Azzanadra said as he looked at the necklace on his hand. Maybe it didn't have enough love on it? Because he just happen to find it on some troll cave which he slew a beast inside. He shook his head as he relieved himself, "What am I worrying about? Let's just do it." He held the ropes that held the horse, as they slowly made their way to Danaris' humble abode.

Do'Shanji stared at the letter in disbelief. 'You must have the wrong Khajiit' he had tried to tell the courier, but the man had insisted that it was for him. Certainly a festival of peace did not sound like the thing to suit such a warrior. The image of himself in formal attire, especially was enough to send him bursting into laughter.

Still he remained curious. Just who was this S&S? Do'Shanji did not remember any such person. It was also of interest that this was a Moon festival. Do'Shanji, like most Khajiit, reveres the Moons and a festival in their honor definitely interested him.

As it was, Do'Shanji was currently staying at his home in Orcrest. A rare occurrence indeed, and soon it would seem the dwelling would be vacant once again. For Do'Shani had made up his mind, he would go to this Moon festival. Partly for the festivities, but he had other motives on his mind as well...

Zar'Karri studied the odd paper and thought who might this S&S person must be. He knew of no one with those initials but none came to mind. Zar looked up to ask the courier what the person looked like but by then they where already gone. Zar needed a break and this would be a great relief.

The khajiit began pondering what just might he wether to go and if he did how could he hide his identity even though he had been doing it most of his life. Finally Zar'Karri decided to go and wear some robes he found in his travels. But for today he shall wait and prepare. Zar entered his small cottage beside the beach and set the note on a small table and kept the gem in his pocket for safe keeping.

Alator studied the letter and a smile broke out on his face. He didnt know who S&S were but its seemed like a nice party. He walked up to his bedroom and looked in his closet, he now saw what he should wear. Alator started packing what he needed.

Zirik, after re-reading the letter, couldn't help but feel curious. Who this S&S was, he did not know, but he started packing his bags anyway. Who else was to assist this party?

What if this isn't what it seems to be? He questioned himself, but disregarded the idea, remembering what the letter said:

On the evening of the first night you will be asked to attend a Masquerade that will be held under the a full moon. We ask that you wear appropriate formal attire and that you use your imagination to hide your true identity.

If they were out for him, they wouldn't know who to attack. He was glad, he had enough on his mind without more hassle. A party would do him good.

He decided to study the gem for a while, he had some free time on his hands, after all...

"Unhand my letter, fool!"

The Bosmer finally managed to tear the letter from Andarcya´s hand. Dodging her hands he jumped back and climbed on the closest tree, starting to read the letter, while the Altmera stared anrily up to the bone and leather clad man.

"Moon's Carnival? Gah! What kind of hoon would invite YOU to a hooley, sheila? Why not me? If I´m not a party animal, who else is?"

Licking his sharpened teeth, he looked down to Andarcya.

"You don´t mind, I take your place? Must be a mistake anyway. They surely want me on their flaming party and not you, haha!"

"This one has to say, Bosmer nibbles his hosts. And always brings stinky remains of fallen enemies."

Andarcya looked at the lazy Khajiit, sprawling in the sun and licking on hallucinogenic frogs. Hell, how could she ever end up with such a disgusting bunch of incompetent individuals?

She drew her sword...

"Uh, now I´m real scared. Can´t ya see I´m on a..."

... and pointed it at the vines around the tree.

"Bloody hell! Are you mad?"

Andarcya sneered, but she quickly unflinged her face again.

"I will cut your beloved forest down, Nuunroth. And if your Y'ffree asks, I'll say I did it because of you."

Nuunroth growled, revealing his sharp, wolfish teeth. But finally he would just drop the leather and disappear into the higher branches.

Sheatheing her sword Andarcya stepped over roots and moss and picked her letter from the ground. After rereading she held the little gem into the sun and watched the light of Magnus breaking in it.

"S'Girr wonders... is Altmer planning to go to this festivity?"

Andarcya shook her head.

"I´m not sure about it. Parties are just decadent ostentations of influence and wealth. I find it a shame that good Altmer nobles put so much effort into stupid and irrelevant competitions of showing of. But I´m invited... I once was on a party. It was pointless. Just like civil wars. Every single moment of life should be spent to fight off the Lorkhanic threat and end this whole mess. I won´t support this and won´t visit these Altmers´ party."

The Khajiit released the frog an sighed.

"The first hundred times it was funny, but S'Girr is afraid he developed resistance against little frog´s poison...

Why is Altmer so certain that other Altmer run this party? Moon's carnival rather sounds like a festivity of S'Girr´s kind."

Andarcya sat on a root.

"It´s obvious. Alteration charged crystals containing teleportation... no offend, but noone on the continent could have crafted an item like this. Surely this is another way of showing of... with magic..."

"Mhh. But why should they invite Andarcya? You say parties are competitions between nobles. You are no noble and you don´t want and could not compete with a noble. And if S'Girr wanted to show of, he wouldn´t hide his name and just say he´s S'."

Andarcya looked at the crystal. There was some truth in S'Girr´s words. But if it was no Altmers who invited her, who else had the means to create such an object of sophisticated enchantment?

"Well, maybe I will visit this festival. If I find a costume..."

A voice from the tree top.

"Why don´t ya go as Golden Saint, sheila!"

Andarcya drew her sword and cut the root she was sitting on in two. Smilingly she listened to the sound of sharp pain that came from Nuunroth as she violated his beloved Valenwood.

"Yes... I will definitely visit this party. If only to have an off time from this stupid mortal..."

Azzandra was supposed to be here soon and it was nice he had his memories back for we kept int touch but it had been many months since we last saw one another. It would be good to see and old friend.

It had been a few days until this Carnival would start and I needed an outfit. Something different that wasn't normally my style.
I walked outside into the small garden that my handmaiden had attended to for many years. It was our fathers get a way home and Aliericka rarely didn't ever come here. It was a safe place and she wouldn't think I would be here so close to her. The house was in a small village near the coast and I could smell the ocean. If I were to walk any farther I would eventually be able to see the ocean that reached towards the mainland.

I wasn't sure if I should bring up the letter to Azzandra but I would chose my words. I had learned a lesson after his presumed death and his relationship with Molag Bal. I kept my distance when I needed; I had things I had to do and I couldn't have distractions. I came to this house in search of finding myself.

Iogairn read the letter with increasing interest. While the masquerade sounded like a pompous idea for people who rhyme 'house' with 'mice', getting free drinks and music sounded like a decent reward for the ideal.
He wondered vaguely about the test. Since it was for 'adventurers', he assumed it must be some kind of trial which would suit them. Or, if the hosts were bastards, something completely different, like a poetry competition. Iogairn shrugged. He could manage a rude limerick well enough.
Thinking of the hosts put him on edge a little. The only thing he knew about them was their initials, and people only put their initials when they don't want to reveal their identity. And as someone who kept their identity secret a lot, Iogairn was wary of someone who did the same and their aims. Still, the drinks sounded nice...
As he thought about the class that was expected he realised he didn't have any fancy clothes with him at the inn- or indeed his life; he couldn't stand the things. Thankfully there were shops in town...

Which were naturally closed due to some stupid holiday. Iogairn sighed. It was always the way with these Bretons. Thankfully, another trait of Bretons was that they had far too many fancy clothes in their possession.
Iogairn, fortunately, had a few decent lockpicks with him, and everyone was out drinking merrily at their fancy dinner parties. It was a classy area of town so he knew the clothes would be of a decent standard.
Having reached the wardrobe and having looked inside, he was not disappointed. There were a ridiculous amount of ridiculous clothes. Iogairn picked the one least likely to grow in the dark. It was a dull green one and it was matched by the same coloured shoes. He put some coins on the table next to the wardrobe in payment- after taking some away for poor customer service; they weren't even here for crying out loud!
He went back to the inn and tried them on. It was a shame he had to hide his face; after all, it was the best feature. Still, he wondered what would occur at this party as he laid on his back and fell to sleep.

As Hiraethus finished the reading the letter, the courier went on a tantrum about,"How hard it is to find someone in these dangerous times!" and "Why don't I just quit this damn job?" Hiraethus gave him a few extra coins, partially to make the disgruntled courier be quiet, partially because his mind was too focused on the letter to count how many he handed the man.

Fine clothes? Cyfiawnder practically lived in his armor, what was he supposed to do with it, hide it somewhere, and hope nobody found it for the three days he was gone? It would certainly hide his identity, he was not the type to dress all fancifully.

But perhaps he would know some people there. Chances were he would not know most of them. And who was S&S? This was a moon festival, perhaps they were Khajiits?

But the stone was what really caught his attention. Who or what made it? Teleportation was not a magic any novice of the arcane arts could perform, let alone do it twenty times for however many guests would be at the party. Cyfiawnder concluded that this meant whoever S&S were, they were either very powerful mages, or had connections to one.

But he had a fortnight to prepare, twenty nights of anticipation of what was going to happen.

And with that, Cyfiawnder went to his room in the tavern, and slept through the night.

Azzanadra looked around the small houses for Danaris and he occasionally stopped his horse to ask for directions. He hadn't been in this part of the Isle before and it looked very beautiful, especially the ocean view in front of the houses. He had some things in his mind though. Who was this mysterious S & S? He or she sounded like a noble, a normal Mer or Man. But he/she could be a demon, a Daedra from another world. Now that he thought about it, could this person be Sheogorath? No, at that time, Jyggalag, the Daedric Prince of Order, would still be reigning his realm. So that's out of the way. He spotted Danaris' house as he made Masyaf stop the cart. He led the horse to some nearby stables and afterwards, went towards the building and knocked on the door. He waited patiently for someone to open it.

Do'Shanji had not payed much attention to the letter for the remainder of the day. He spent the rest of his day honing his mastery of Rawlith Khaj, as is usual for how he spends his free time. He trained with the masters who resided a few hours away from Orcrest by the way the crow flies. Training with another expert was always something he enjoyed. Do'Shanji always took advantage when he was around, which was not often.

After the day of training, Do'Shanji found himself walking the distance back to Orcrest by himself. He began to think about the invitation he had received that morning. He was concerned that the note left no detail as to where the party was, only that a stone would be used to take him there. "Damn thing probably is used to open a gate to Oblivion" He said to himself, though he knew how ridiculous that sounded.

Do'Shanji also realized he owned no formal attire to wear, as the letter had requested. "They will just have to accept the dress colors." He referred to the formal uniform that was given to guards of the Mane. It was very exotic looking and would definitely fit the call for formal wear. It was a military uniform though, and while the letter did not specifically mention they weren't allowed, it wasn't always so clear. Still he had nothing else and when he got home he pulled it out. The armor was a pattern of different shades of green that matched the jungles of Elsweyr. There were purple accents that signified that they were the Mane's royal guards. The set was complete and included a helmet that covered almost his entire face when worn. The armor was not used for action, it was more of a show piece. It was very elegant in that regard. However it was indeed real armor and would protect him well if the need rose.

Risvar looked to the letter he never really understood all the rules and regulations for court affairs, but he couldn't find any reason to pass up a party that sounded so magnificent. He rummaged through old things trying to find something that would fit the occasion and all he could come up with is some nice dunmer clothes Kaaos had gifted him. They attended a few ceremonies after the wars with the invaders and since had little to wear then that would be appropriate Kaaos gave him what he needed.

He laughed as he put it on and thought to himself everyone will think me a giant dunmer. The clothing was two different shades of red with black accents through out. The whole suit covered everything, but his feet. Still he had shoes that were given to go with it as well as a scabbard for his sword that would blend with the clothing strap and all. He hid armor underneath the clothing and though it was a little uncomfortable at first he walked around stretching it out trying to settle in the best he could.

He would not question who the nobles were or the gem the truth was he knew little of most of them or their tools so who was he to judge this as odd or out of place. As he was no officially he ready he smiled and put on a mask that covered his face fully fitting into the hood of the clothing it was divided diagonally in half one side black and one side red each half housing one eye. With that he dropped the gem in the bowl of water and prepared to go take part in the festivities

The knocking on the door sent my handmaiden towards the door quickly. I looked around to see Azzandra standing in the door. I couldn't help but smile. I walked quickly and embraced him in a hug.
"It is good to see you. Come in and make your self comfortable, I will get some wine." I went over to a small table that was near the door that over looked the ocean.
"Tell me about your travel here?" I was pouring wine.

Azzanadra took a seat next to the small table as he said, "Well it was the same day I guess. Trading with some passerby's, normally had to make convince them to buy. Also I happen to see a cave and I found this," Azzanadra pulled out the golden necklace that he was going to give to her, "for you." He put his hand outwards to her, showing her the clear beauty and shine of the gold on it, along with the exotic jewels on the moulds of the necklace.
