Have ZOS said anything about how they will work account security?
I look at what Blizzard have done and nothing they do works.

The only thing I can think of would be allow me to log-in using my Finger Print scanner on my laptop, or the option to only change my account details if a Finger Print is provided.

Thoughts?

One simple thing that I thought worked well in SWTOR was if you're logging in from a different computer you answer a unique question to give that computer access to your game account.

Of course this works best if only a stolen password is the issue done by keylogging or phishing (which I think is the most common.) If the security/game code is cracked or whatever, then this wouldn't help so much.

Character Profiles:
Endaros Ilmori - Buoyant Armiger
Sunrio - Aldmeri Justiciar

Taren Jucanis - Imperial Deserter (Used for The Black Shroud RP)

Yeah that finger print scan will not be possible, haha. Maybe in 20 years.

All I do is change my password about once a week when I am actively playing any MMO, this seems to work as I have never had any account of mine hijacked in any MMO I have ever played.

Security is, as it has always been, a shared burden. The company will try their best to keep your information safe (offer helpful hints and trinkets that help make your security relatively unique). However, complete security can be maintained in part by rotating passwords, and taking advantage of everything you possibly can to help keep your information safe (such as virtual keyboards, or random strings of characters).

By the way, many laptops now have fingerprint scanners, however, I doubt that they will have an interface in games for some time. Google's facial recognition has a better chance of being practical in the NEAR future.

My laptop has a fingerprint scanner built in, and It's from like 2002.

Somebody develop a program to do retinal scan through Webcams.

Retinal scan is impossible, because webcams can't emit the infrared light the scanner needs to identify your retina.

That being said, iris recognition is a possibility with a high resolution webcam. An example of iris recognition software can be found here.

I'll be happy with a 2 step authenticator system off sort. And if you got a proper firewall, anti virus, peerblocker, anti malware and anti spyware program. Then with the authenticator and some common internet sense. You should be safe enough. If you're feeling paranoid get yourself a long password (10-15 is probably enough) with random lower and upper case letters, and throw in some random numbers for good meassure. Virtual keyboards is another alternative.

Although how much your login is in danger will be dictated by the games popularity and by how much a "demand" there is for quick in game currency.

Another note: Don't use the same password as on other sites. If one gets compromised, they all will.

Me personally use different passwords depending authenticator or not. And how much off a security threat having my account on the site cracked poses. So for example my email, have the best password and authenticator. While some random website that I barely use that has none off my actual real info gets what I call a throw away password. Which is easy to remember but not that hard.

I already know what my password rotation will be.

I had to figure it out due to past experiences of having to make some random thing up every time. you lose track of it.
